Hey everyone. It's been pretty quiet around here. What's everyone up too? Sorry I'm not posting more. Been going to see my daddy everyday and its a terrible commute, i dont bother lugging my laptop with me for the commute.

Hey Tasha, You don't have to apologise. We all know you're going through a tough time *hugs* And I totally get what you mean by lugging around unnecessary items. It's a pest carrying extra weight.

Things are pretty good my way. Had the house to myself again last night. Kinda freaked out more than normal though, because the current book series I'm reading involved dangerous shadow monsters, I think I've developed a fear of the dark...at least a temporary one. Lol.

Going to be writing a cover letter and touching up my resume today to apply for my first editing job. There's an assistant-entry level position opening up at a local publishing house, so my enter class will be applying for it, lol. But I'll try my chances anyway, can't hurt. (and it's mainly a children's/YA publishing company, so it'd be super fun if I got it) I have no idea when they'll say who got the job, but since applications don't close until friday, I'm guessing it'll be a couple of weeks.

Glad to hear things are going well Kim! And ohhh that job sounds SO awesome, i would love it if you got that job! Best of luck too you! I don't know your class, but I'll secretly hope they have typos on their resume. lol.
and awe about your temporary fear. I thought i was over my fear of heights, but when i was in Texas and we went to this submarine museum... i couldn't walk to the nose of the ship... i was so scared it was so high up! hehee

Ugh! I know! Submarines are a lot bigger than you think they are. There's a few random towns in Australia that have submarines in their centres and you can just wander up to them and climb all over. I mean, they're not huge, but they're big enough to make you think...and yeah, scary climbing all over them.
My fear, however, is lessening. The current book hasn't featured as much of the dark as the last one, so I think I'm safe

After a nervous/anxious couple of hours I finally finished my cover letter and resume touch-ups and sent off the application. Now we play the waiting game *sigh* I hate playing the waiting game.

Awe Kim. I hope you dont have to wait long . My professors always told me its good to call and inquire about your application status instead of just waiting for a response cause sometimes they dont even give you a rejection response. Well atleast that's typical for jobs where I'm from. But i've always felt it's pushy to call. Just thought i'll throw the idea out there to see if it's something you may want to consider to ease the nerves while waiting. My professors always said it shows initiative. Shrug. I DO call doctors and programs and medicine places and bills all the time to inquire about this and that cause they literally would never tell you stuff. So i guess in a way its the same.

Thanks Tasha, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Since the applications don't close until Friday I wouldn't want to call until next week anyway. There'd be no news this week...or at least I don't think there will.

Thought this was going to be a quiet week.... er no. Apparently last night (while we were all up btw) our cars and our neighbors cars got broken into. There wasn't any damage, but we think some money and stuff was taken. Everyone was pissed. It's just sort of scary because these guys came all the way up our driveways. This could easily have been our houses they broke into. Luckily our security cameras caught them and we just had a cop over to file a report and lift prints. lmao These kids are gonna have a bad day since we're pretty sure the only prints on/in our car were theirs as my brother washed it over the weekend, and he's extremely thorough about washing cars.

I think they're probably just neighborhood kids messing around since it's summer, but it's still really disconcerting. Now my brother's putting up a new security camera so that if they decide to come back we'll get their faces on tape. It'd be pretty stupid if they did because um... this is TEXAS. Though if they do come back I honestly wouldn't be surprised because even an idiot would know to wear gloves. lol

Ash: I'm sorry your car got broken into. That happened to us a couple of years ago on Halloween. We were all inside when it happened, but they're sneaky buggers. I hope the cops catch them. Your brother must be pretty pleased with himself for doing a thorough job of car cleaning.

Yeah and you remember how I was going on about how our neighborhood is safe the other day? I tell ya, I should just not praise anything because things always seem to go to sh!t when I do.

But yeah, it was just really infuriating that they did this. My parents were pissed when they found out. And we actually think this might not be the first time it's happened.

I don't why people bother breaking into things. These days, even if it's a small crime, there's a thousand ways to track it back to you...I'd be terrified of being discovered if I was robbing people. Of course, that probably just proves that I'm not the sort of person to go around breaking into people's cars...but totally not the point , haha

lmao I actually think up scenarios sometimes and wonder if I would get caught in real life. I watch enough crime shows... so it's possible. But it's really hard to leave zero trace that it was you unless you're freaking Dexter Morgan. There's pretty much ALWAYS a trace.

Well anyway, I would at least have enough sense to wear some damn gloves!!

Seriously, what the hell were these kids thinking? You know, my brother saw a couple kids hanging around our driveway about a week or so ago. I don't know if they were the same ones though, but it more than likely was. These guys were just so bold to think they could come to our houses and lift things from our cars. They looked pretty damn comfortable sitting in them anyway. I'm happy they were caught on tape, and I'm hoping the cop got some prints. The car hasn't been used much since it was washed, so I'm feeling pretty confident.

I'm actually surprised and awed that you guys have a security camera outside your house. Lol. that's got to be pretty cool, and handy right now

Ash- sorry to hear about the car being broken in too. So glad no one was hurt and the car is in good driving condition. I laughed so hard at the "Dexter Morgan" comment. My fiancee watches a show on tv, the dumbest criminals , or something of that sort, and it really shows the stupidity of people. My favorite one was the guy who accidentally went into the wrong store to stick up, he walked straight into a gun store and said "this is a robbery". IN the episode, needless to say, he got shot multiple times. I dont know if thats true to the real story or they played it up for tv. BUt i found it hilarious. But, real life, personal to home crimes are always nerve wrecking and infuriating. It sets you on edge. I hope the tapes help catch them. I'm a bit peeved at children now a days...it's happening in NY too.. breaking in and do petty crimes. Its like they think its cool and exciting. I mean if their bored , go to the park. Play some ball. Pick up a book. Read it. And how can you be bored with internet? I just dont get it. It's just future proof that children aren't being raised properly (totally my own personal opinion from the children i encounter in my neighborhood, dont mean to generalize cause there is still great parents out there). I just know if i was a kid and i broke into someones car, i would be LUCKY if the police caught me cause my parents would literally kick my butt.

Sorry for the absence. I've been off in my own little world reading for the past 2 weeks. About the only interacting I'm doing atm is on twitter. Idk why but I just haven't been in the mood to be online

U know ya'll..i really only use one social networking site at a time. Back in high school days it was xanga or live journal and i was pestered into getting those. Then it was myspace and my friends actually created the account for me, against my will lol. So I was on myspace then Everyone would nag me to get a facebok. I wouldnt. People would literally sign on myspace just for me...lol. Then one day not too long ago i caved and made a facebook. I dont even look at myspace anymore. I go on facebook everyday. N now people are asking me whats my twitter. U should see the steam coming out of my ears when they ask me that...lol. I'm still slightly old school and dont believe in multiple page accounts. I got a facebook. A blog. and SB. that's more than enough for me. People make fun of my ideology alll the time but i fear facebook is phasing out and twitter is taking over and i just cant stand the switch in trends. I feel soooo old saying that, its something my dad would say lol.

Lol. I felt the same way originally Tasha. When I had myspace I refused to get facebook. But then no-one was ever on myspace so facebook seemed like the best option. Then I refused to get twitter when it first popped up, but I caved to follow authors. I still have facebook now, but I don't use it as often. The people I talk to most are on twitter, and what's better is that people like my sisters aren't on twitter, so I can speak freely there

Had twitter for a while but didn't use it so I gor rid of my acct.
Have facebook but I don't use it much.
On it now because i'm procrastinating studying for my exam thats on Monday. Had one today too. It was alright - didn't fry my brain

I was the same way Kim. I stick to Facebook, Twitter, and SB. Thats about it. I forgot to mention that I got rid of my long hair. Those on fb know but still. It was a huge deal to me. I let my hair grow out for 4 years and now I chopped it all off for a above the shoulders cut. Its kinda like a pixie style cut when it decides to flip out which atm is annoying the hell out of me. Even after using my straightening iron it's flipping out Idk if I like it yet or not. My mom loves it and my hubby says its fine It feels better b/c its so damn hot outside but now its too short for me to pull up -__-

OK, enough complaining about my hair...

Wilda! Miss you! My dad is more or less okay right now. He's been real scared and nervous, yesterday I had to hold his hand all day while he went for a procedure. His surgery is set for Monday. I didn't go see him today cause i have a pile of errands I need to do and I want to make sure everything is done for MOnday and the days after when he needs to recoup. BUt i'm so excited for surgery. At this point, we arent worried or stressed about surgery.. we are anxious for it. It's just in our minds the quicker he has surgery the quicker he is at risk of his heart failing an the quicker he can recoup and be back to normal. Just been real busy with my dad and my fiancee started his chemo again so I'm so anxious to get through the next couple of days. But otherwise I'm in good spirits :-)

Oh Tasha, thats great! Thats he's finally getting to have the surgery that is. And I agree with you, the quicker he gets it, the quicker he can start recovering. The waiting during the surgery will drive you crazy. A best friend of mine came with me to the hospital when my mom had hers back when I was 15 and that helped me a lot. I'm sure reading would be tons of help so make sure you have stuff to do to help keep you occupied. And remember, we're all here for you. You can message me on FB and it'll go straight to my phone if you need someone to talk to. HUGS!

Forgot to mention that I am going to a sleepover with my daughter tonight. It's my best friend's daughter's Luau Sleepover and I'm staying to help out. She said they'll be 10+ girls there Hopefully I'll survive the night lol
