| Who would of thought. Last year NY had a freak tornado and now we had , or atleast had tremors from one, an earthquake. It was the LAST things I thought was happening when my room started to shake. The hubby and I thought the roof was caving in, i thought a tree was falling on the house or from the storm this weekend the structure was finally giving out. The hubby and I grabbed out laptops. Medicines. And his bag full of paper work and i ran it downstairs. THen he unplugged his play station and gaming tv . My purse has been packed him the cellphones, charger, wallets and ids and health insurance cards.
I blamed my dad at first. I went to his room, and was like"Where you upstairs, what did you do?!" He was like you felt the shaking! The whole chair was shaking. Then we all left the house. And went outside.
IT lasted almost 5 minutes.
Once outside, the neighbors told us an earth quake but we didnt feel better, we were still scared the house was going to collapse, it being such an old house and all.
My cousin came outside( they live on the first floor apartment) and i asked him if he felt the shaking. He said " I was sleeping on the couch, then it started to vibrate but i thought it was the cat, thought it got stuck behind the couch . I was just coming outside to go to the store, I'm hungry". Lol

| Ohh scary. Hope all is well now though. I'd probably flip if I were ever in an earthquake. I remember going on this ride at Universal Studios Orlando where you're on a subway and you experience an earthquake... I think I cried. Hope everyone's safe though what with the earthquake and the hurricane off of the east coast. Anyway. Just got back from buying textbooks... bunch of fun that it was. Ugh. Even used textbooks cost an arm and a leg. | |

| Ash- i may miss college but i do NOT miss buying textbooks. For my last two semesters i didnt even bother buying from the campus bookstore, i ordered online. Its MUCH cheaper online. and I just went to the library and read or photocopied what i needed while i waited for the deliveries . I actually , for one class, used google books preview for the first few chapters of a textbook while i waited for my textbooks in the mail...lol | |

| Google books, my best friend through uni. I got most of my essay info out of the limited/full preview books on google books Tasha: I hate the idea of being in an earthquake. I don't think I've ever experienced one before and if I have it was minor and when I was really young. I hope you're doing ok. Ash: Textbooks are the biggest pests in the world. | |

| UGH, textbook buying is something I am NOT looking forward to when I finally go back to school.
I've never been in an earthquake but I have been in some pretty terrible hurricanes. Those 3 major hurricanes that were back to back in 2004 came through my area and left a ton of damage. Hurricanes I can handle, earthquakes and tornados are a different story.

| Yeah... in the coming semesters I'll have to find other means of buying books. Maybe I'll try renting them or getting from Amazon or something. Had never heard of Google books preview before now. But out of my textbooks I only found a preview for the math text. Anyway, I might actually end up keeping my abnormal psychology book. I like to keep the ones for psych at least. I still have my textbooks for cognitive psychology and child development. With all the psych I've taken you'd think I'd be majoring in it. Pretty much the only things I'm bummed about right now being back at school are that 1) there's less time for me to devote to *fun* reading and 2) I'm in bed by 10 pm. Ugh. I love being up at night. This is so not me. Hurricanes are pretty scary. I've really only been through one (hurricane Ike). Even though it had died down a bit by the time it reached my side of town, we got a good deal of wind and rain. I was afraid one of the trees would come through the house. My siblings and I were all alone too so it was extra freaky. We stayed up all night camped out in my brother's room. Basically any kind of natural disasters freak me out. Luckily I haven't really experienced many, and NEVER a tornado. Omg, that would be a nightmare come true. Literally. I sometimes have nightmares about them. | |

| Hope everyone is safe from natural disasters. I would freak out if I was ever caught up in one. Haven't been involved in anything but minor flooding.
Ash- What are you majoring in? Texts books are so friggin expensive. I sometimes get them online. At least you can sell them again when you finish your courses.
Went by 3 book stores in the CBD and no Bloodlines. Worked out that if it releases on Friday it won't ship unitil Monday and the earliest I'll get it is Tuesday. Thank you Penguin. Kim - Have you got your copy? Wondering if its a Aust-NZ thing?

| Libby: Nope, no copy for me yet. I hear the major bookstores here have it already, but there aren't any bookstores near me anymore, so I'm hoping Kmart or Big W get it in soon. I hate that they promised the book would be everywhere on the 23rd, but apparently not. | |

| Libby - lol You get like a third of what you paid back. It's almost not worth it to sell them back. And I'm majoring in education, but now I'm considering maybe minoring in psychology... I haven't given it too much thought yet though. Sorry you guys haven't gotten Bloodlines yet. That really sucks. The only reason I've got one is because my mom was awesome enough to go out and get it for me and then drive 40+ min to deliver. | |

| I can usually sell mine online at a ebay equivalent at 70-80% if the same text edition is being used at a uni in the country. That was so nice of your mum to bring you Bloodlines. Just printed and stapled my last assingment for this half of semester I want Bloodlines now. | |

| Well I still don't have Bloodlines. I'm so annoyed at my local shopping centre. Next time I'm preordering, I don't care if it takes a few extra days for delivery OR if the cost of delivery is half of the book. I don't want to go through this again.
Edit: But I did get a 1:30am text from a friend last night that said "don't read the last line first." so more warnings to avoid the last page. Unfortunately the text meant waking up in the middle of a dream...not cool. (I stopped remembering what the dream was the moment I woke up, which sucked, but I feel like it was a good dream)

Now I feel compelled to check out this last line. I'll try not to though. I haven't spoiled anything for myself yet, but I think I have a pretty good idea of what's going on.

| It's ridiculous. Apparently whatever that last line is is making everyone crazy for The Golden Lily. I'm dying to read the whole book just to find out that line, but I don't want to know about it before I read the rest. | |

| lol Well I haven't seen the last line... yet. I hope I won't feel tempted to read it when I pick up the book again to read later. Ugh. I'm right about to drop that theater class but I'm having second thoughts. Not that I want to stay in it, but that maybe I shouldn't be dropping it. *scowl* And I'm worried that taking on a science course might be adding more work than I can handle. | |

| Themes and such aren't hard to Bulls*** your way through, so watching a few plays might be ok enough to deal with. While I don't support illegal downloads and I plan to buy a real copy VERY SOON. A friend of mine just sent me a PDF copy of Bloodlines and I don't have the strength to resist reading it. But yay, pdf, I can put it on my ereader. ------- http://vampireacademy.heavenforum.org/viewtopic.forum?t=1433 | |
