It was pretty stupid, but it seriously had potential. I generally like alien invasion type movies but this one felt really weak. They could have done so much. I hated that there was no follow up on some of the characters. Like I said, there was zero character development. There was just nothing to get attached to. Basically the only thing this movie had going for it were the action sequences which weren't all that special. *shrug*

| See, that just makes my wonder how movies get so much publicity if they're crap? How the hell did they get through production without developing something to interest the viewers? | |

Same way badly written books get published? Who knows? One really good alien movie I've seen recently is District 9. They did everything right (i.e. good story, acting, graphics, action, etc.). I'm still waiting for the sequel. Maybe the downfall of Battle L.A. was that it was a PG-13 movie? District 9 was very R-rated. lol Though that doesn't excuse the nonexistent character development.

| lol, true...bad books get published too. I guess it's not an exact science, not everything is going to be perfect, but you'd like the think that there's something decent in a text/movie to let it be written/produced.
I haven't seen many alien films, they don't really stand out for me.

| Ohhh i loved District 9... the funny thing about that movie I didn't actually want to see it. I was forced. And i ended up enjoying it more the hubby. - Spoiler:
Probably cause of the ending, the hole friendship thing -promise to coming back from the guy....and the love story part...he's leaving her makeshift flowers. Awe
I've been emotional and exhausted. Going through this cancer stuff with the hubby is taking its tool on me. We were in the hospital ALL day , various appointments and administrative stuff to handle.I'm terrified I'm messing things up. I'm terrifed I'm doign things wrong. I'm terrifed , I'm not doing everything I'm supposed to be doing. I'm so scared he's not going to have all his medicaitions and stuff. I mean the chemo pill is 12- 14 grand per prescription. But the docs office is really working with me and helping me out - but even with their help there is still a small chance of not being qualified or turned down. And yesterday they put the hubby in the radiation machine and made the mask for him that's to assist the laser beam for the radiation treatment. He didn't actually get the treatment, they just made the mask and calibrated the machine and made him an ID card and stuff. But just being strapped in to the machine and having it scan him- he was messed up. I had to go to the pharmacy and buy him a cane. Since we ended up being in the hospital all day, my brother picked us up after work and when my mom and brother saw him hobbling using a cane. they were sooo scared. They've never been nicer in their whole lives. My brother offered to drive us to treatments everyday ( which start the 28th). WHich surprised me but made me feel tons better. But i couldnt help but laugh at my mom and brother- they dont wear panic well. And now they look at me in awe for care-taking for him everyday ( and care-taking for my dad) and its nice to finally have a little consideration. So i was going off only 3 hrs of sleep since I hate to wake up at 530am to get reayd to go to the hospital and then the hubby was sick and couldn't sleep all night. Needless to say, i just slept all day. I woke up at 12 in the afternoon. It felt great and terrible at the same time. I got SO much paperwork to do and stuff. Ugh. Also, we've been talking to a social worker. I've been trying to get the hubby to talk to a professional since the day i met him. I'm sooooooo happy he is finally opening up to a professional. :-D

I love District 9!! I also hadn't really planned on seeing it but went along with my brothers because I was bored. It really turned out to be an awesome movie. - Spoiler:
That part at the end when you see Wikus making his wife flowers out of scraps was so... sweet. lol It was my favorite part in the whole movie. Though he's changed form, he hasn't really changed at all. I also pretty much love any scene with Christopher JR. lol That little prawn kid is so cute. lmao "It's the Sweetie Man".
Tasha, glad to hear that things are going smoothly for you and your hubby. I wouldn't worry so much about whether you're doing it right. Really, is there a right way with these things? Just get done what you can. Bah. There's been a lot of renovating going on around here. We're finally getting hardwood floors but it's been so hectic with moving furniture and ripping up all the tile and carpets... it was dusty as hell in the house yesterday from all the grout from the tiles. Wood's finally going on the floors today, but it'll still take a while. The dogs are going nuts from all these workers around the house!! lol

| Hired my academic dress today for graduation. Had to do it two weeks in advance. Can't believe I'm graduating in 16 days. In 16 days I'm going to have an official degree. Insane.
Hope everyone is well. | |

| My daughter came home yesterday with a rash and itching and my son was running a fever. My hubby and sister (who is a MA) both think its chicken pox. But this morning the rash is gone from that locations and now only has a couple little spots but I've looked up pictures and they look nothing like those. I've never had chicken pox so I have NO clue to this. I kept her home today and I'm keeping an eye on her. I'm Praying it's not chicken pox.
EDIT: took daughter to Doctor and she said it is definitely not chicken pox. Turns out it's an allergic reaction to something she came into contact with yesterday and with it being Spring that could be anything. She has to take beandryl twice a day and I have to put calamine lotion on the hives (which I was already doing). Oh and she has to stay home from school tomorrow too and its spring pic/class picture day and she's extremely upset. I emailed her teacher in hopes I can take her for the class picture only so we'll see.

| Tasha: Bachelor of Art, double major: English and History (handy for the editing publishing course ) Wilda: Doesn't it suck when the doctor tells you to do what you're already doing? You want them to come up with something fancy and quick fixing, but usually it's like bed rest and panadol, which never really seems worth the doctor visit. I'm glad your daughter doesn't have chicken pox though. I don't remember having chicken pox, I was too young, my older sister caught them at preschool and passed them onto my twin and me when we were 10 months old. I hope your daughter can make it to photo day. | |

| oo Double Major is impressive! Best of luck with your degree.
Since the hubby's started talking to his social worker , like counseling sessions, and since we're always together by default she has been counseling me too... she has been getting on my case about school. Lol. So my mind keeps wandering back into my school dilemma. I just dont know what to major in school. The hubby keeps telling me since I cant be a psychologists ( i'm just too attached and can't be objective, no matter what skills they teach you to not be that way, thats just the way I am), that i should be a social worker. He said I'm taking care of him so well and applying to all these programs so well, and talking to him and coaxing him to talk - just like his actual social worker. he said I'm a natural social worker and i should pursue it. But honestly? It's a freaking depressing job. I don't know if i want to be around social worker stuff all day everyday. But it's an option i guess. Cause no matter what i do- i'll have to start all over with school. My AA can't be applied to ANYTHING.

I go to UNSW....or I went there, since I'm not actually studying anymore I wanted an earlier graduation, but because I finished my degree in summer school (even though it was last year) I could only graduate on April 1. Not the worst thing in the world, but still wish it had been earlier. Tasha: I'm the same way. My degree doesn't really get me anywhere, that's why I applied for the Editing diploma. It meant that I was actually doing something towards a job. I get where you're coming from, with the whole depressing thing, but at the same time if you're already doing social worker jobs naturally, (I know all the family stuff sort of forced you into it..not in a bad way, but in a I'm-doing-this-for-the-people-I-love way.) then why not at least look into what you need to do. You might find that you don't focus on the depressing aspects of the job and more on the helping-others side of things. Ultimately it's up to you to decided what you want to do, and only you can work it out. Others might give you suggestions, but it all comes down to what you think you'd enjoy the most, even if it means studying again to get some extra qualifications.

| I agree with kim Tasha.
Not much going on in my world atm. My daughter is back at school today so things are back to normal. I'm going to the Renaissance Festival tomorrow and then a week from today on the 25th, we leave to go to Arkansas for Spring Break. A 12 hour drive with 2 kids ages 2 and 6. I am not looking forward to that o_O

| Thanks Kim and Wilda. I'm hoping one day i wake up and it's crystal clear what I want to do with my life. Lol. here's to hoping. But seriously, I have to sit down and do some soul searching and then research.
And Wilda i couldn't help but laugh when i read about the car ride because it reminded me of my father-in-law-to-be. He drove from NY to Texas and he was so against driving a two day trip with his son ( a 5 year old) and wife he installed the tv behind the head rest in his van. So he put them in the back seat and made them watch movies the entire ride with headphones while he drove in silence...lol.

Yeah, there were five kids in all plus one or two guests. We've done this more than once, although the last time we went to Disney we flew. Also, back in the 90s before cars had TVs, we would hook up this little TV/VCR and watch movies on our drives from Houston to San Antonio. But this was wayyy back when we had attention spans of like five minutes. I'm sure it kept my parents sane while we watched movies and they had near silence in the backseat. With the way my dad drives, it would take nearly three hours to get there. lol Now my brothers are the only ones doing the road-tripping. My older bro can drive from New Hampshire to Texas in little over 24 hours!! I keep telling him flying would be quicker. lol

| haha lmao Tasha and Ash. Got to do inventive things to keep the kids from driving the parents insane. We'll be driving at night so hopefully the kids will sleep the majority of the way. I'm going to buy a book light and read in hopes to keep myself entertained. My son is the one I'm worried about. He can't stand an hour trip and tends to wake up cranky after sleeping in his carseat. So I can imagine how he will be on this trip. | |

| I guess it helps that we did a lot of traveling growing up. My parents learned how to make traveling less of a hassle. We would fly overseas a couple times a year, and flying is a pretty exhausting thing at any age (especially nowadays). But when you're stuck on an international flight for roughly 10 hours and then have to catch another 6-8 hour flight after a long layover (sometimes overnight) at the airport... blehh. My siblings and I were usually pretty good travelers though. lol And if we weren't we'd have to deal with my mom. Wilda, make sure he has a pillow. lol I always forget to bring a pillow with me when we do road trips. Even if it's just a short three hour one. | |

| When my sister and I were really little (like 2 and under), my mum used to give us pages from magazines on long car rides. Apparently we enjoyed ripping them up and it kept us entertained for hours. Other than that we'd always be singing. Mum would teach us songs in the car and by the end of it we'd know a heap of songs. | |

| Omg KIm my niece does that. When we get the Sunday paper it has all the fliers and advertisements. She would sit on the floor next to my dad and my dad would read the paper and give her all the adds. And she would sit there for HOURS and just crumble and rip up the papers. Awe. My mom hated this cause she then had to pick up all the papers, but the way i see it, whatever keeps a child quite and entertained for a prolonged period of time, i dont care what i have to pick up off the floor...lol | |

You know what's cleaner and more fun than ripping up magazines? Bubble wrap!! lmao My mom and I could sit and just pop bubble wrap bubbles for hours. I think some people use it as a stress reliever. lol
