| I thought the same thing about Liam Hemsworth originally. That he was too old, and WAY too tall to play peeta...but I saw a few photos where he looked pretty gentle and cool. So he's growing on me.
But yeah, Haliee looks pretty good. I had doubts at first because the only photos I saw of her made her look so clean and innocent. She's a bit young (14), but I guess that will make it better for future movies because she'll grow into the character a bit.

| March 2012 thats a quick turn around. The hype around a mortal instruments movie has been around for a lot longer but I don't think it has a release date.
Just checked IMDB they say 2013.
I don't have set pictures of anyone in HG. Liam could play either peeta or Gale. Haliee doesn't have the rugged look going for her which is essential for Kat.

This isn't rugged enough for you? She even has the braided hair!! lol THIS is what she normally looks like.I think Hailee would make an amazing Katniss. She could easily pull off that backwoods country girl who hunts with a bow and arrow look, and then just as easily turn around and get all prettied up for the Games. I'm honestly more worried about the director they choose for the movie. I've seen some of his stuff before... it wasn't anything really special. But at least he shows a lot of dedication to the project.

So who did they get for Haymitch?

So who did they get for Haymitch? Katniss is't Bulky. She's skinny. Everyone in district 12 is super skinny. I think Hailee has the look although i don't like that grunge pic of her but I think she's a beautiful little girl. but that's how I see her. A little girl. She's too young imo but as long as she can pull katniss off then I'm all for it. She looks closer to the part than most of the others suggested. And I agree Gary would make a great Haymitch! And kristin for effie! What about Gale? Oh and I dislike the idea of Liam as Peeta!

What about Gale? Oh and I dislike the idea of Liam as Peeta! I don't see why her age would be a problem if she looks like she could do it. Also, for someone who has never had a decent meal in her life, you think Katniss would have developed the way girls these days do? I'm in my 20s and many of these young girls look MUCH older than me. I'm frequently mistaken for a 15 year old. I love Gary Oldman. He's so EVIL in The Professional, which is why I'm convinced he could make a scary President Snow. But then he's also a good guy in Harry Potter which makes me think he'd be great as Haymitch. lol He's just awesome. Liam... still not sold. I honestly think he shouldn't have anything to do with this series. As for Gale... I've suggested Skandar Keynes (Edmund from the Narnia movies) in the past but people have said he looks too young, and tbh I'd have to agree. If only he'd grow up more!! lol Then he'd be perfect.

| Thinking Bill Nighy for president Snow. He was a good minister of magic. Gary Oldman would be good for Haymitch and Kristen would be good for Effie. | |

That said, I think Gary Oldman should be President Snow. Or even Haymitch. Hell he could do both!! Because that's how awesome Gary Oldman is.
Also, here's a video of Hailee discussing Hunger Games I just posted a thought that i felt was missing in the comments list, actually.

| Just read that they've cast a Katniss for the movie!! The actor who has signed on to play Katniss is Jennifer Lawrence, the actor from Winter's Bone. Considering Suzanne Collins is playing a major role regarding the film adaptation, I'm feeling very confident about the actor they've chosen. That's gotta be some major kudos to Jennifer if Suzanne Collins believes she can portray Katniss convincingly. I haven't yet seen any of her stuff, but she *was* nominated for an Oscar recently, so she must have given some kind of awesome performance. http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/03/17/jennifer-lawrence-katniss-hunger-games/http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2225369/ | |

| I saw that last night, some random website was the first to announce it, and I went to bed hoping for some official statement to be released by morning. I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. I don't know much about Jennifer except that the oscar nomination thing, so I'm not judging her at all. But at the same time, I thought I was going to be instantly excited about whoever was picked for Katniss, but so far I'm not feeling that excitement. Hopefully as more news/preparation comes up I'll get a chance to go all fan crazy.
I'm definitely keeping an open mind.

| When I first saw who they chose, I was like really? Nuh uh I don't see it. but I read that Suzanne thinks she's perfect and I trust her. I'm still skeptical, but hopefully she'll be great. | |

That's exactly how I felt Wilda...except, the more I think about it, the more I'm ok with Jennifer. I'm liking her more and more evertime I read a new article or something. I think she'll be alright.

Me too!! *high fives* At first I didn't think she would be that great because she looked a little voluptuous to me in some of her photos. Like, I'm sure Katniss isn't quite as thick as Jen, but I honestly don't really care about that anymore because I think her face is very nice and once she has the hair/eye color, I'm sure she'll start to look more like Katniss (though tbh I've made some mock-ups using Photoshop and I think she'll be perfect). Now I'm just trying to see things the way Suzanne Collins saw them in Jennifer's audition. I'm sure she could pull it off easily and I can't wait to see it for myself.

| I have been very skeptical and honestly not so accepting of Jennifer as Katniss...until i read that article and read what Suzanne thinks and feels about her. Now I am on board. If Suzanne who knows Katniss better than anyone thinks she can portray everything mentioned then she must be amazing. I can't wait for them to film and for us to see her as Katniss. it'll be a while before any clips and trailers come out, but you know the fan photos will be out the moment they start filming I've only seen one manip of Jennifer and it was good. I could actually see Katniss when I saw it. Idr the link, but I came across the pic on twitter. Can I see those pics you made too Ash? | |
