I'm spoiler-proofing my post...not actually going to mention any parts of the book, just my reactions might give a bit away...I'll post another spoiler thing later when I've had time to come up with a response
Spoiler:
Yep, definitely had the tears going a few times. Not as strongly as I thought I would, I think I was too shocked to cry, which is a first I might add, except that the deaths I cried at weren't built up...they were so sudden and unexpected that there wasn't that normal emotional build-up that send me over the edge....that's not to say they weren't emotional, because I did still cry, but they happened so quickly it was hard to react.
Like you Ash, not my favourite. VERY good book and ending, but the others were a bit more powerful.

Finished reading Mockingjay yesterday. It killed me! The whole book is torture imo. It's really dark and heartbreaking. I cried throughout the book. I get a little too emotionally involved in the books i read esp THG series.
Spoiler:
Prim's death sent me over the edge. It was so sudden and the biggest heartbreaking part of the book. I wasn't at all surprised to find out that it was Coin's actions though. I didn't trust her the moment she was introduced. I hated how she kept trying to control Katniss and didn't care if the other victors survived or not. If it werent for them protecting Katniss and Peeta, I don't think they would have made it. I felt so bad for Johanna and what Katniss did for her was the sweetest thing she coudl ahve done for her. I broke down pretty bad when Prim died and started right back up when I saw that Annie gave birth to Finnick's son. He didn't even know he was going to be a father. His and Prim's death affected me the most. And bogg's too. idk how I feel about Gale. afterall it was his little thinking like the enmey that got Prim killed. I know he didn't do it and he never thought they would use it against their own people but i definitely understand how him and Katniss couldn't be together after that. I was never on Team Gale nor Team Peeta but i am happy that Peeta finally found his way home to her. The way he acted after he was recued really shocked me and pissed me off. The epilogue was expected. It had a real ending. not the Happily Ever After type ending. It would ahve made me happier if Prim wouldn't have died but I guess someone close ot her had to die. Thats what always happens right?
That spoiler sounds a bit out of order and all but my thoughts are still jumbled from reading the book.

Spoiler:
Wilda, you're right...there always seems to be someone close who dies. And usually I take it as a sign of a good author, they're not hiding behind a fancy screen, but are willing to kill people off for the story. But at the same time it's always heart breaking, and I guess that's another sign of a good author, that they're drawing in the audience so much that it hurts. I was actually a little disappointed in the ending. Everything went so quickly throughout the series and then the end was sort of cut short...there weren't that many pages to go when Katniss was still imprisoned in her old Catpiol room...I felt like there could have been more wrapping up done, especially since it was the end. But I don't really have many real complaints. I was crushed with Prim, Finnick and Boggs's deaths too...they definitely hurt the most, and I can't blame Katniss for not wanting to hang around Gale any longer. I know he would have done everything he could to protect Prim, and I blame Coin 100% (who was pretty much just another Snow only seemed a little more devious at times), but to hang around the person who was semi-involved with her sister's death. that would have been terrible. I think the worst part of the ending for me was that fact that Katniss's mother wasn't going to see her. I realise going back to 12 would have crushed her mother, but Katniss was still alive. Even if she'd gone through a heap thinking she'd lost Katniss a million times over and then losing Prim, I would think you'd still want to be with your daughter. Maybe I just don't understand the heartache she was going through, but I felt really sad for Katniss, who at some point in her life might want her mum. I was glad Greasy Sae was looking after her though, that made me smile.

Spoiler:
Greasy Sae stepping up and taking care of Katniss when her own mother wouldn't made me smile. One of the few moments in the book that did. and I agree I think Coin was worse than Snow. She went behind people's back and sure Snow did too but he was honest with katniss. Coin wasn't. If Katniss wouldn't have killed her, the Hunger Games would have continued. and yeah the ending was cut short. I would have liked more but the overall story was good enough to make up for it. I'm kind of sad that the sotry is over. That just hit me all at once lol.

I'd never thought of that, but you're right. Coin definitely would have kept the hunger games going. You can't wish for a better life but replace it with the exact same thing only different rulers...nothing can be solved that way.

I thought that part was rather cool actually. All those sorts of moments where Peeta shocks the audience. It definitely stirs them up a bit

You know the more I think about MJ the more I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was good but imo it could have been soooooo much better.

I hate when Finnick was killed! I didn't like Gale , he was sooo....blood thisrty...and the fact that his plan might killed Prim was even worst! I liked this new Peeta , very agressive and kinda mad (crazy) very different from the other books . I didn't like that there was A LOT of deaths...way too many...and yes , I agree with you Wilda

What else can i say, aside from the following?
Spoiler:
I now have a pretty good idea what can happen to the general Moroi society if they continue to act like the Capitol and not shape up. The Strigoi could have been an indication that they were like mutts out of the capitol's control, from what i recall.
In any case, i did not expect Finnick to die decapitated, and not even at PeaceKeeper hands, either.

The Hunger Games books were really good. I really liked them all. My favorite book is Mockingjay. That's really crazy... seeing how it's so sad and I'm team Gale (... and we all know how Gale ended up ) But because of all the emotion and action... its my favorite! The begining was slow, I have to say... but once it picked up, boy, it really did pick up. Finnick. Finnick finnick finnick! That part made me tear up I was so upset over it, probably more than Prim's, and Prim's was sad too.

Feel sorry for Annie. Reminded me of Lupin and Tonks in HP.

I know! It's just so sad, they'd been through so much and were finally happy and then Finnick has to die

I cried so hard when I read about Annie.
Spoiler:
I could have dealt with Finnick's death a lot easier if it wasn't for that part. I can't imagine how hard it was for her to find out she was pregnant with his baby after losing him. But at the same time, she'll always have a piece of Finnick with her.

Prim's death was really sad. I can't believe Coin killed all those kids. I didn't like the epilogue. HP was much better. Talked about so many of the characters who you would wonder about. I want to know about Gale. Does Panem function properly?

This is what i'd like to know, and did Gale recover a modicum of his sanity, at least?

Has anyone seen the short film some director did called The Hunger Games:Katniss and Rue? It's the scene where Rue dies and Katniss sings to her. It made me tear up but imo the actor who plays Katniss is NO Katniss.

Yes. I just saw it about an hour ago.
It honestly brings tears to my eyes. I was just watching it and before I knew it, I had tears streaming down my cheeks. Poor Rue. Gah, it has to be the saddest part.

Yeah, I sort of thought the same thing. I kept thinking of Katniss and then feeling bad for comparing real life to a fictional book. It's so sad.

I saw that yesterday too Wilda. I got all excited. they'll have to start casting people soon then, otherwise there'd be no point. I've heard rumours of people being considered...or at least showing interest.
For Katniss: Hailee Steinfeld I wasn't too sure about her at first, but I watched the True Grit trailer and then a couple of youtube interviews and she seems pretty cool actually.
For Peeta: Liam Hemsworth. Again, wasn't too sure about him at first, but he's hot so who's really complaining.
there was another one for peeta but I've forgotten the guy's name...whoops. whoever it was I wasn't all that impressed.

Not sure that I like the idea of Liam Hemsworth as Peeta. I saw him in that Miley movie and well... he didn't exactly impress me. Also, he's already in his 20s and might not fit the look age-wise for Peeta.
Hailee Steinfeld on the other hand... I think she'd be pretty amazing. I haven't seen True Grit, but I've only heard good things about it and Hailee's performance. Also she loves the books!!
