| I'm not sure why I keep buying these books...I'll have to borrow from the library from now on and not waste money. The dialog is so pedestrian and hackneyed, nothing advances the ball, the adults are written like buffoons and the teens barely any better. - Spoiler:
It's a week after Heath's death, Zoey's shattered soul, her trip to the Otherworld and back. Does Heath's body make it to his parents? Dunno. How do the Lucks take their only child's death? Dunno. Does Zoey continue to mourn? Yes...right into Stark's bed, with "I love you's", and "it was Heath's time" and "I would've had to say good bye at some point" thoughts. Is all hunky-dory? No...Kalona's spirit can now enter Stark's body and share it but Stark and Zoey haven't figured it out yet. Does Neferet hoodwink the High Council. Yup. Does Kalona get out from under Neferet. Yes. Does Neferet get more evil. Yes. Does anyone but the scooby gang see it. Barely. Does Stevie Rae's mom discover her daughter is alive? Yes. Does she ask questions? Of course not. Does Linda Heffer make an appearance? Yes...just in time for a deux ex machina adulterous discovery and her death/sacrifice to create an almost perfect Vessel of Darkness for Neferet. Oh...and could the White Bull had telegraphed Grandma Redbird any better w/o saying "the sacrifice has to like lavender and have an animal and color in her name"?!! What else? Jack is sacrificed to Darkness since Kalona failed too. What of Heath? He's playing football in the Otherworld but is given a chance to enter the imperfect Vessel as an essence of Light/love which he takes. And Rephaim? Well he's set free of Kalona and chooses Light so now he's a real boy like Pinocchio...except for when he's a raven. And Dragon has decided that even though he knows Neferet is evil, he's going to side with her b/c he can't forgive Rephaim Anastasia's death. What? I know... And the "other" Reds...they're still eating people and led by Dallas.

[spoiler
And Rephaim? Well he's set free of Kalona and chooses Light so now he's a real boy like Pinocchio....[/spoiler] I agree with you! I always buy the new book and ask myself why am I buying these. But the truth is I LOVE the story just not how it's being told. If that makes sense. If this story was taken into the hands with someone with skills and talent, it would be incredible. In my opinion. I do enjoy the story, just not the rudimentary writing. The characters are dense. And with the latest books, it's becoming annoying the underlining issues are never resolved. Like your point about the Reds. - Spoiler:
While i love Stark, I hate the petty relationships drama. The back and forth between men. It's frustrating.
- Spoiler:
And with Rephaim....i couldnt stop laughing at your pinocchio comments. I've been saying the whole human/bird things is way too "Shrek" for my taste

You can always grab some copies of the Camp Half-Blood novels, by the likes of Rick Riordan, in case you want to save some money and brain-cells. Trust me, they go a long way to trying to de-cannon-fodderize humanity in general.

| Riordan who writes for 12 year old boys has a much better talent at spinning tales and writing characters than Kristin Cast...who I have to believe is the real author of the last 4 books. Her mother had to have written the first set of books b/c they were significantly better. But yes, I need to know how the story ends...so I'll keep reading but not lining Kristin Cast's pockets. | |

So will you ever pay a visit to the two threads i made for Camp Half-Blood's two respective series, at some point this week? That said, exactly why are the Casts out to continue the red-shirtification of humanity that essentially twilight may have started(or may have worsened and amplified, at least?) again?

Riordan is SO MUCH better than the Casts. His story is much richer, and everything has a reason at the end of the book, and I like that. However, his new spin-off series is frankly predictable. I'm still in the middle of reading it, and I've figured the story out. Tell me if this is right: - Spoiler:
Gods sometimes have children in their Roman form, creating Roman offspring, and a whole other camp where they wear purple t-shirts instead of orange. And that's where PJ is.

Not to mention that Humans are not always being redshirts(like too many Vamp-induced series to name out, and as much as i hate to say this, like the Potter-world, for that matter!) and actually get recalled on the fact that they are warriors, or at the very least the fact they are soldiers. Although, i kind of wish that Aphrodite's concerns for her half-mortal children didn't feel so down-played, for the most part.(still recalls how she was, in The Aeneid, quite well, and suspects how she was in medieval times was quite...defensive, to say the least!) and besides, even the adults get some modicum of respect as much as Old-Man Riordan recalls that even the gods have their moments of badassery outside the wars they fight(although it may be circumstance-based, but still...) Can we add more? - Spoiler:
You mean the guys from Camp Radical(my code-name for Jason's original home camp!) which displays the children of the gods' yang sides?Who are trained by Chiron's counterpart for the Latins and Rome, Lupa?

I have a thread for the Heroes of Olympus, if you like to check it out. - Spoiler:
While i would have preferred Merlin where he still around(too bad as of late, he's not!), i already know Lupa's awesome, actually! Also, Until the true name of Jason's camp is uncovered, let's just agree to address it as Camp Radical, alright? Not so much as a negative, but because its in an effort to convey that the military traditions are quite different from that of Camp Half-Blood, alright?

How about we do a fic that's basically a fairly reasonable re-cap fic on what happened in the first Camp Half-Blood fable arc, all leading up to discussing what is going on in Heroes of Olympus, right now? If it helps, we could include a cast mainly consisting of O.Cs and do nods to The Blood Element, along the way. Will that be a fairly reasonable compromise?

Will that be a fairly reasonable compromise? I think that could work Besides, it could help buy time for us to introduce O.Cs who are helping to narrate the past to the best of what they can recall, in honest detail, right? - Spoiler:
If it ever comes down to a scene of Silena Beauregard's funeral in particular, i am hoping that there would be a cameo appearance by Aphrodite during the funeral, even if she has to disguise herself as a mere human in the process, complete with a meaningful cover identity, as well!
Plus, we can introduce human mercenaries who helped the forces of Olympus behind enemy lines, as well.

I know. I am scared that i might forget about that fact, though. In order to remind myself that she has one, i have to remind myself a lot that she, along with Demeter and her alternate form, Ceres, happens to be quite nasty when it comes to defending her children(in fact, as of late i can't tell which one i wouldn't want to tick off, more, i can only tell which one did it longer!)
