House of Night by PC Cast and Kristin Cast

i HAVE TO AGREE WITH NESSI, THEY ARE MORE OF A FILLER SERIES SOMETHING TO JUST READ IN BETWEEN MY FAVORITE SERIES. tHEY ARE KINDA LIKE TWILIGHT TO ME NOW. STILL HAVEN'T READ BURNED THOUGH IM WAITING TO BORROW IT.

If you don't like a series why read it? It's not my all time fav but it's one of my favs. Sure they don't need to have so many books to drag everything on but imo the series and characters are growing and maturing. I really think everything that Zoey has just went through will change her for the better. I loved Stark before but this change he's just encountered has made me love him even more. he's definitely my fav character followed by Aphrodite. yeah I never thought that was possible but she has srsly grown on me lol As for Stevie Rae I like her but all this lieing and all idk its not doing her any favors thats for sure. Dallas is an exampe of that.

What I'd like to know is how HON reminds you of Twilight cause it definitely doesn't have a twilight feel to me.

It’s just a feeling, It’s hard to explain, especially because I only read the first twilight book in Swedish and the language is a bit different there.(Read the others in English). It feels like these things with vampires, humans and love starts to get boring. Some stories manage to create something new. I didn’t thought I would like VA either, but I did. Let’s say I don’t think Twilight and HON live up to my expectations of vampire stories.

okay so ive had this book for like two weeks now and i just barely started chapter two. I'll read a page and just not be into it and put it down I keep doing that hoping that something will catch my interest to keep me reading but ive got to say it feels like such a chore at the moment, I think i might be done with this series. No offense to anyone else who liked it, I'm really going to try and read it especially since I already spent the money on it but its just not cutting it for me anymore. I'm the kind of person who finishes a book in 1-2 days. Never has a book taken me this much effort or long, I even breezed my way through twilight 2-3 days a book. I haven't had much time to myself to read lately but I don't think that matters because I know I will make the time when spirit bound comes out. This kind of sucks because I like to have closure to a series, and i don't think im going to get that with these. Im still crossing my fingers that it'll pick up. Here's to hoping!

So how are you fairing with your series?

Couldn't they just go so far as to unleash girl-on-girl lemons, if they are trying to make Zoey out to be a hoe?

The Fledging Handbook will be released Oct. 26th and Awakened will be released Jan. 4th

I expected Awakened to be released October-ish. I'm not thrilled about waiting that long but I'm very interested in The Fledging Handbook.

Oh and does anyone know who the models for the series are? I know the girl who portrays Zoey her name is Tara and the guy who portrays Jack his name is Zach. But that is all I know. It'd be nice if they could put the models info up on the website.

So when will most of everyone from HoN get the axe, or redeem themselves, Jill?

I don't know I started ch2 a few weeks ago but decided I'm not really up for reading it right now, or possibly ever in the future. I'll just keep an eye on the forum to see how it ends.

If Zoey Redbird can somehow redeem herself in various means[personally i hope she starts with going bi!] then would you feel that its safe to re-pick up the novels, Jill?

So Jill, did Zoey and Aphrodite redeem themselves yet?

I agree with both of you It sucks that zoey is the main character because she is so annoying with her sluttiness. I am caught up in the stevie rae story line too I want her to have a good ending. I just need to know what happens with her. The book is not consistant in the means of it's characters and their development. Stevie rae started out as the wholesome girl and Aphrodite started out as the slutty character. We first met her when she was giving a blow job/ drinking blood. eeew! Now in the most recent book Zoey is ten time's the slut they were trying to make Aphrodite out to be. And Aphrodite is the wholesome one in a healthy relationship with darius. The only character they've stayed true to is stevie rae. Which is prob. why she's my fav.

Let me guess...just because you're named after a powerful person[even an Olympian Love + Lust Goddess as Horny as the Original Aphrodite, Silena's and Aeneas's mum!]shouldn't have to mean you always need to live up to everything your name's reputation, right?

It took forever for me to pick this up given the ending of the last book. I just didn't want to see how they'd further destroy Heath...or Erik for that matter. While the books before now were firmly embedded in the mytharc, this book added mythical Darkness and Light personified by a white and black bull respectively, there are vampyre Queens, Warriors who Guardians and Shamans, and a whole bunch of other "out of left field" plot points. The most random discourse was Grandma Redbird discussing Blue Eyed Devil and how she thought Hardy Cates was such a yummy character. If anyone has read Lisa Kleypas' Travis boys series, they'll attest to the fact that Hardy Cates was a much more complex character in the prequel Sugar Daddy. But I digress.

Stevie Rae has her Rephaim secret which she tries to keep secret through lies b/c she never learned a thing from Zoey's mistakes. Zoey is shattered and keeping Heath company. Him going to the other realm killed me all over again. I hope he comes back by the end of the series. Stark is bananas with pain and sadness and I frankly don't get what a Guardian is and what's Honor all about. Aphrodite and the rest of the gang are the same. And Dallas goes completely off the deep end. Sigh.

im giving the series a quick re-read so i can read the new book . skipping the first one though, i can't stand to re-read that one lol.

Well if anyone can explain the Queen v. High Priestess distinction or the Warrior v. Guardian v. Shaman distinction, I'd be much obliged.

Lol i did the same thing when i re-read the series for the last book that came out. i cant stand the first book either

So how do we go ahead and pit House of Night vs. Blue Bloods, then?

i have read the series.. i don't think they are the best thing ever.. but it was enough to kept me awake on my vacations......(note... there was nothing more on English to read than this books)

The more I read these books, the more I like them. I didn't like marked at all, but I'm in hunted now, and it rocks! Of course, it's not THE best series, but it's actually enjoyable! (I hope such word exists... )

I couldn't stand the first book... But my favs are untamed, betrayed and hunted!

I'm glad you gave the series a chance after not liking Marked. I didn't liek it either it took me halfway to even get into it but betrayed got me hooked.

I loved HoN the first time I read it through; I truly, truly loved it. I remember waiting for Tempted and getting it the day it came out; I had my reservations after they destroyed Erik's character, but still. I thought, "No biggie, that'll be cleared up in this book that's bound to be awesome!"

Tempted completely destroyed my expectations.

Burned made me want to bleach my brain.

The Stevie Rae story line... okay, so I think the romance between Rephaim and Stevie Rae is pretty cute, but it was just so obviously filler because Zoey was off moping in the Otherworld because Heath was dead, and I get that, fine, but she's always going on about how being a High Priestess is so damn hard, but then when the the world needs her most, she vanishes.

That really destroyed my opinion of Zoey. No, the whole Loren thing did. You have two perfectly NICE guys (because I will always maintain my opinion that Erik IS truly a good guy and that Zoey just overreacted, and the Cast duo just didn't want to make her seem slutty by liking Stark, Heath, Erik, and Kalona) chasing after you and you just decide to throw them away for some "hot" teacher because he made sexy eyes at you? Really? Is that how teenage girls are portrayed now?

And Stark... Stark, when I first met you, I completely and utterly adored you. But then Zoey went around calling you her soulmate after ONE conversation, and you went with it, and you became her warrior after like, two days. That turned me off. Would you really give someone your heart and soul after a couple of talks that weren't all that deep? No. Just. No.

Kalona, you asshole. You ruined a perfectly good series. You know when the series "fell" dear fallen angel? When you showed your damn face. I'm just waiting for you to die, so maybe the series can heal a bit of damage.
Some people might think I'm overreacting about this, but I don't care. This is how I feel about the series *shrugs*

wow that was deep.. lol.. i didn't though the where the best series ever..perhaps i read them at the wrong place as well.... i like the first books but when all this 3 way love thing pop out, i can't of lost it.... even tho am planning to give it a shot to the last book.. i kind of wonder how the series end..

I read it yesterday. I took a break from Last Sacrifice while eating lunch and read it as soon as it was sent to my email. I wasn't anything special but I'm glad to see that Stark has healed completely. Is there something special about that wishing tree thing that was mention in Bruned? Cause I don't remember it at all...
