| I'm curious. Has anyone read Rachel Vincent's 'Shifter' series? I was looking for a new series the other day and stumbled across it. It only really stuck with my because I was looking at the international book covers and the Italian cover has the exact same picture as Jessica Shirvington's 'Embrace' (ok, not *exact*, they changed the colour and one eye)...and then after tweeting a friend about it, Rachel Vincent tweeted me back. (I wasn't following her at the time, so it made me sort of happy to know authors are on the look out for their own name and that they take the time to reply to people anyway, so I felt the need to follow her/reply back a few times and now I'm intent on reading her series.) I know she also writes the soul screamers series, which I've heard it pretty good, but I liked the look of the shifter series better and wanted some first hand opinions.
So if anyone can help me I'll love you forever.

| *SQUEE* Shifters is one of my all time FAV series!!!! I absolutely LOVE it! Can't praise this series enough! Faythe is also one of my fav female characters. She reminds me of Rose in a lot of ways. She's a really strong character. Some people don't like her cause they think she's selfish for wanting a life of her own outside of the Pride where she can make her own decisions, but I just think she's like any other girl would be in that situation. But Faythe grows through out the series and by the end she puts her own wants aside for the need of her Pride. It's an amazing series and I highliy reccommend it Oh and I wouldnt read the descriptions of the other books before reading the book before it cause they are a bit spoilery. I had one major part of one of the books spoiled for me by reading the next book's sypnosis before reading the book. I also like the Soul Screamer series but I love Shifters more. Rachel Vincent is a great author and like you said, she does reply back to her fans | |

| I've been dying to read the shifter series. I've been waitin for their prices to go down some before i buy it. I have the soul screamers series on paperback, my daddy bought em for me around christmas time. Still haven't read em. But like Kim, it was the covers that attracted me to it. Now that ya'll have praise for it, it gets bumped up my list of things to buy and not be cheap...lol | |

| Thanks Wilda. I love your enthusiasm! I'm definitely going to try looking for the series now. I found books 4 & 5 at a local store, but they didn't have book 1. I'm trying to decide if I should order them in now (and have to wait a few weeks before they arrive) or wait until next week when I'm in the city and will have a few more stores to chekc out. But, anyway, it's on the top of my list of books to buy. I read the first chapter of book 1 online yesterday and really enjoyed it, so I can't wait to read the rest.
I've also got the free prequel ebook for the soul screamers series, I might try reading that too...although I've heard it's sort of confusing if you haven't read the rest of the series first.
Tasha: lol, how annoying is it when you really want books but can't get them because of the price? I think I'm going to have to start buying all my books from book depository, because everything is WAY cheaper there than in the stores over here. it means there's a 14-21 day shipping wait though, but whatever, shipping is free and the books are still the same.

| Idk if the prequel is confusing to those who haven't read the series yet. I read My Soul To Take First. Actually I haven't technically finished My Soul To Lose yet. I started it a while back but got bored pretty quickly cause I had already read the first book.
As for whether to go ahead and order or wait, Idk what to tell you. There's always a chance you won't find the first book when you go to the city and end up having to order therefore waiting even longer to get the books.

| I might try reading the prequel first then, if I get bored I can always give up, it's not like it'll be essential to the story.
Yeah, I know, I had the same though, but I've already got like 7 books in the mail, so it's not like I'll be without something to read while I wait.

| Bought 2 new books today: 'The Truth About Forever' - Sarah Dessen, and 'Divergent' - Veronica Roth. I'm going away tomorrow, so these should make the car trip go by faster | |

I'm going away tomorrow, so these should make the car trip go by faster Let me know about Divergent. I stumbled on Veronics's website\blog the other day. She's so young. Anyway the book sounds interesting. I think we've left the vampire era and entered the dystopian. So many of series are coming out in the genre.

| I'll definitely let you know. I've heard a lot of great things about it, and I really enjoy the recent influx of dystopian books, so I hope it'll be really good. | |

| I think the only dystopian books I've liked have been Hunger Games and Inside Out, but this could be because I haven't read too many. Although I did also read 1984, Lord of the Flies and Fahrenheit 451 in school and hated them. I think I'm more into paranormal/fantasy to be honest. It's just what I like. | |

| I hated 1984 as well, but I think that's because it was a school book...hardly any school books are ever fun. | |

| According to goodreads, there will be a companion to The Verspertine
The Springsweet (Vespertine #2) THE SPRINGSWEET, a companion to THE VESPERTINE, sees a woman mourning the passing of her fiancé heading to Oklahoma to start a new life in the Victorian-era wild west.
Just finished Once In A Full Moon. While not my fav story, I did enjoy it and I definitely plan on reading the Sequel Magic Of The Moonlight out December 27th, 2011

Yes, but that's not exactly a sequel. I wanted to see more Amelia and Nathaniel. I'm pretty sure they won't be in the companion since it's about another character. But I did look on Mitchell's blog last night through interviews she did recently where she said she hoped to do a third book in this world, so I'm holding out hope for now.

| Usually when the Authors do books like that the characters from the first 2 books are all in the 3rd-well at least some from each book are, so hopefulyl you'll get to read more about them Think I am finally going to read Firelight. Been trying to read it for a few weeks now but every time I go to start it something comes up and then I end up reading something else. Crossing Fingers that I get to read it this time. | |

Think I am finally going to read Firelight. Been trying to read it for a few weeks now but every time I go to start it something comes up and then I end up reading something else. Crossing Fingers that I get to read it this time. Well, she did mention something about all of the elements coming together in the 3rd book (it makes more sense if you've read the 1st one). lol So from that context I'm assuming she plans to write a 3rd with characters from bk 1 and bk 2. If you do end up reading Firelight, let me know how you like it. It's been on my list for a while, but I recently saw the cover for the second book, Vanish, and it looks really cool. http://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/9436632-vanish

| Read 'The Truth About Forever' over the weekend. Really good book. I was going to start Divergent and/or Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse #11) ... but Morganville #10 comes out tomorrow, and I have to read it before Wednesday when I'm meeting Rachel Caine, so I'm going to keep rereading books for now. I'm in the middle of rereading both Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh and Embrace by Jessica Shirvington. It'll be a tought choice deciding which to read before bed. | |

| Read 'A Precious Jewel' (it's content is something more adult than I should be reading, but it's pretty interesting) and it's phenominal. I really like it so far. | |

| Ladies, if you want to try and get Jessica Shirvington's books early (ie. before they're released in the US) There's a competition going on that's open internationally. You can win BOTH Embrace and Enticed. There are 10 sets to be won, unfortunately only 2 of those are for international entries. But you've got to be in it to win it. While I could enter (more chances for aussies ) I don't think I need a 3rd copy of Entice or a second copy of Enticed. But you guys should definitely try, they're amazing books, I just love them. Can;t wait for October when book 3 is released. Competition: http://badassbookie.blogspot.com/2011/05/interview-with-jessica-shirvington.htmlCurrently reading Bite Club (Morganville #10) | |
