| As I am always reading I figured I'd make a post so everyone can talk about what they are currently reading and list the last 3 books you've recently read.
Right now I'm in the middle of Marked the first book of the House of Night series. I just got done reading The Last Olympian (PJO) on Sunday and I read Evermore and Blue Moon of the Immortals Series by Alyson Noel before that.
so what's everyone else reading?

| I just finished reading the first three books to the ranger's apprentice series by John Flanagan. I'm not usually one for sci-fi action adventure but this series was amazing. So well written too. I'm extremely sad i dont have the rest of the series. This series just bumped its way to the top of my favorites list. I heart this series so much.
I just opened the first book to the Percy Jackson and Olympian series - the lightening thief. But, only just started the first few pages. I know its YA series but it seems kinda young young adult by the way it's written if that makes sense which is kind of a turn off for me but i think its moreso from reading the ranger's apprentice series and then trying to jump into something new. So, i'll give it a day or two before i judge. I actually wouldn't normally pick up this series but people on this site are always talking about, Tony especially. So i figured why not. haven't heard bad things about it at all.
I've read the HON series. I actually like the series very much. No spoilers from me dont worry. I jsut feel they tend to write down to YA's not towards. And the first book is by far my least favorite. I feel the writing improves slightly as does the story telling. If you dont like the first book- i suggest keep reading anyway. It took me a while to get halfway through Marked but i started to like the story after that. My favorite book is the last one Tempted.
Alyson Noel is on my very long list of books to read.

| The last three books I've read have all been a part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. BDB is about vampires... very dangerous, very sexy vampires. It's an adult romance/urban fantasy series and it's awesome. The Brotherhood is made up of six Warriors who are the defenders of their race. Since the Brotherhood has gone into hiding, the lessers - vampire slayers - have been hunting vampire civilians to learn information on the Brothers. Each book centers on different characters, and right now I'm on book #4, Lover Revealed. It stars Butch, the human ex-cop who has been my favorite character since book 1.
Prior to BDB I read Deadly Little Lies, book 2 in the Touch series by Laurie Stolarz. The Touch series is YA and is about a high school girl named Camelia who's life has been pretty ordinary. But when Ben Carter, the mysterious new guy, starts his junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes anything but ordinary. Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus, except for Camelia. She is reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She's inexplicably drawn to Ben...and to his touch.

Is that series capable of eating out harlequins alive, and then spitting out the remains, Ashley? Sorry for sounding grotesque.

Alyson Noel is on my very long list of books to read. The way you feel about PJO is the way I feel about the Cirque du Freak series. Which BTW is a recent read. I read YA books I think they're fun. I'm waiting for the 5th book of HON from the Library, in fact. But when you read the Cirque books it has a more 'kiddie' feel to it. It's not that the books are bad. I want to read the 3rd book at least so that I can rent the movie. Yeah, I know Tony and someone else (sorry! I forget who it was!) told me that the movie wasn't that good, but I still sorta want to see it. OK. Back to the question at hand! Currently, I'm reading "Columbine" by Dave Cullen. It's a book about the incident that happened in '99. I'm reading it on recommendation by a friend at another book group. It's supposed to be an analysis of the events of that day (and before it) as well as a psychological study of the two boys who perpetrated the massacre. I'm not quite half way through it yet. I read slow. The last 3 books I read were: The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton (Anita Blake), Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian (Midnight Breed series), and The Vampire's Assistant by Darren Shan. To cheat just a little, I had also recently read the first book of The Mortal Instruments series. City of Bones? I think it's called. I recommend the Anita Blake and Midnight Breed books to adults only. (Adults IMO are 16+) Those books have mature themes. PeaceLove - I also like the HON books. And PJO is definitely on my "To Be Read" list. Thanks for the heads up on the writing style.

| Yes PJO is written more along the lines of the really young adults. I think according to barnesandnoble.com the age group is 9-12 but I enjoyed the series The Last Olympian was my fav it's better written then the other 4 but they are all good imo. As far as Marked goes it's taking me a little longer to get through it than I thought. I almost put it down after the first 2 chapters but I'm starting to slowly get into it so I think I'll at least read the first 3 books which are the ones I have from the library now. Artemis Fowl is actually on my list of books to read. It seems like it's for the really young adults too though...
I do have a question, is The Harlequin by Laurel K. Hamilton part of the Anita Blake series? It didn't cross my mind to check it out online before getting it from the library and if it is part of that series then I need to tkae it back until I read the others...

| ...if the Moroi Royalty honestly give a dang on the fates of their Guardians, in general[i meant the general royalty, not the Royals with Rose and Company!] then tell me why in hell's name are they failing to get the Moroi to properly arm their guardians to fight, properly?
They may have more maturity than all the cast of the twilight series, but it doesn't mean a thing if they ain't got that swing, in this case, the swing would be to actually arm them with more weapons than just a stake, and grow backbone and be real leaders and start fighting on the front-lines.
If even the various immortal pantheons of Gods and other immortals done that, right, then why did the Moroi stopped taking the right notes, other than breeding half-mortals, and instead choose to be cannon-fodder about to condemn their race to extinction?

| I think the Guardians are properly armed it's the Moroi who need to well theres no other way I can put this they need to get some balls and start fighting with the guardians. I mean the dhampir race is slowly dieing so wtf are the Moroi going to do when they have no guardians to protect them? Might as well start training both physical and magical and helping them out otherwise once the dhampirs die out they will eventually too cause it'll be easier for the strigoi to get to them...
are the sookie stackhouse books as sexual as TruBlood is? I haven't seen the show but I hear it's definitely not for the eyes of those under 16.

| I think the books are sexual. I'm not sure if its more sexual then the show. I'll say both have their fair amount. Both , imo, shouldn't be viewed by young teens. But, i think the books at least is more tasteful - but that could be the product of good writing...whereas in a show once clothes are off they are off and nothing really can divert from that but in the book its much more emotions and story tied to it. I just love the books more then the show because it has some really awesome character developments and connections. | |

It took me a while to really get into Storm Born. But if you stick with it, it really does get a lot better!! And the ending is really quite awesome. Then you can read Thorn Queen, which is actually much better than Storm Born and is one of my faves of RM's books!! I loved it so much. Just keep reading!! The next three books I plan to read are... well, more Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I'll be starting #5 tonight.

I am now reading Lord Loss[Book 01 of The Demonata series!] and it amazes me on how some Werewolves could actually use magic! Now i wonder if Mead is going to write about Werewolves, if they might be the exact opposite of the wolves of the Demonata, in terms of actually being the ones to rely on more external capabilities than what mere Werewolves in general would have, at the start?
What do you think, Ashley?

What do you think, Ashley? I think I have no idea what you're talking about. I've never even heard of that series until you brought it up. I dunno about RM writing about werewolves. I don't have any idea of what she's planning for her future novels. Maybe if you ever make it to one of her signings you could ask her. You do still live in WA right?

You do still live in WA right? As a matter of fact, i do, and RandD4ever confirmed to me, recently, that Mead is actually quite healthy, so i was wrong to mistake her for someone sickly, although i still think she might be abusing medication, though. But that's beside the point. The point, is that now i wonder if Mead is going to do Werewolves that have more than just the basic strengths of Werewolves in either human or wolf forms?

She looked very sickly, somehow, as if there was something about how pale she was, that sort of tricked me, lately. I happen to have reasons why she was abusing meds, but i would only reveal two of them, here, lest i feel like an idiot. One, i couldn't be convinced if she was thinking clearly when she writes[although Jill would know that she was thinking at all, that much i agree with, but whether or not it was really clear thoughts, i'm not sure!] and two, if it turns out she was thinking clearly, there are times from which she shoots herself in the foot or leg, that i dare not recall, in here.
