SB First chapter

they said that in SB the ending has something to do................ with Dimitri

I love and hate the chapter.
A friend of mine said she didn't like Rose in this chapter, saying she'd changed slightly, was less of the Rose we know. But I actually liked Rose. She had the right amount of nerves for something this important in her training. Sort of like with Shadow Kiss when she's anticipating the field experiment.
I LOVED that's Dimitri's letter was the first thing we read about. I mean, I still sort of hate that he's strigoi, but I was worried we'd hear nothing from in until she left the academy for good and he suddenly pops out from the shadows. But knowing that he's...taunting her in a way, makes me strangely happy. He's still, obviously, trying to connect with her. Though since he's still holding onto the thoughts of killing Rose I'm not too happy about that one.
I'm not all that worried about Adrian and Rose being together. Even though I don't think it'll last long, they're happy together and I loved that we got a few examples of Adrian's proposal. Adrian's just so cool..haha.
I LOVE that Abe turned up to watch her trial. And couldn't help laughing heaps when Rose got all panicky that Abe would corrupt Adrian. It was even better that Janine didn't get what she was talking about at first. To think Adrian would ever stand a chance corrupting Abe is just insane.
I hate that Dimitri's not there to watch her go through it. And I also hate how short the chapter was. Though my main dislike of the chapter was a lack of Christian. We hear about Dimitri, Lissa, Janine, Abe, Adrian even Eddie gets a mention at least...but no Christian. We still have no idea whether, in the last couple of months, Lissa and Christian worked out their differences. I know Rose might be more concerned with her trial at the moment than with saying "Oh yeah, My other closest friend in the Academy is still alive too." But it would have been nice to just know he was still around.
I like that Lissa was trying to make the spirit charms, but in just a couple of months I'm glad she's failed slightly too. She seems to throw herself into things much too quickly and I like that she can't master her new advances instantly.

I wasn't too thrilled about Adrian and Rose going out tbh. It makes my heart ache even more for Dimitri. And Dimitri... god with the taunting. I wonder how Rose can even stand it. It's so sad that he won't be there to watch her go through her final trials, but it's still nice that she thinks about him and imagines what he would say and how he would comfort her if he was actually there.

Which brings me to Rose's parents. It's so awesome that they're both there for her, and it's nice that Janine has taken on that role. So even though Dimitri is not there, she still has someone around to give her that stability. I really hope Rose gets a chance to connect with both of her parents, since neither of them have been constants in her life. She deserves at least that much from them I think.

I really hope that Christian shows up at some point. I really think Lissa sucks as a girlfriend, but I hope Christian can get past it and still be friends with Rose, at least until he and Lissa get back together (because you know they will).

And yee!!! More Eddie!! I'm so looking forward to the exciting stuff he and the superfriends are going to be doing in SB.

With the whole Adrian/Rose thing. I feel bad for Adrian really. Does he know Dimitri's not actually dead, has Rose told him? I know Lissa seems to know, and I'm glad Rose is telling her things now. But Adrian thinks she's given herself over to him completely, while she's sitting around planning Dimitri's future (which happens to involve her). I guess she's doing what she can to stay happy while Dimitri's taunting her, but if she hasn't been open with Adrian I can just see that ending badly, and it will end, I definitely can't see them staying together for too long.

I honestly think it's odd that both parents are there. I can understand Janine being there, because at least she did have a little contact with Rose over the years, but Abe's brand new and Janine must have told him that Rose worked out he was her father. By the way Rose is surprised at seeing Abe, she must not have had any contact with him after the "message" from Abe via Adrian. So while I love that he's there, it's a bit of a shock really.

Poor Christian. He's been through so much and he gets stuck with Lissa. But I'm the same with you Ash, I want them to be together.
