| I was quite skeptical about VA because it's a book about vampires and I thought: Another? God, just because Meyer was lucky doesn't mean you all have to write about vampires.I heard about it a while ago but I wasn't interested. And here's the weird way that got me to read it. I watched the movie Dorian Gray and I kind of liked Ben Barnes and then on youtube someone commented that he'd be perfect for the role of Dimitri Belikov. I was curious. Who's Dimitri? So I found out that he's a character from VA series and I decided to give it a shot. I downloaded the ebook and I just couldn't stop reading! Few days later, I read it all and here I am. I can't stop thinking about it and I'm quite certain this is one those obsessions of mine that never fade, just like it was with Harry Potter. | |

| Subject: The best series I personally think Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:37 am | |
| Twilight started my interest (could never get through Anne Rice in the past so I wrote of vampire books).
After Twilight I read 1. Vampire Acedemy 2. Vampire Diaries....didn't finish it got too much after book 4 I think (the evil evergreen just went huh?) 3. Morganville....I still have one to finish but then the new Vampire Academy came out.
I had it forever. Afraid to reading knowing that I had till December...read all but last 4 chapters (sped throug the first)...but when I finished I was like WOW...JUST WOW.
I have this desire to re-read the whole series and take notes to see if I can figure or have some good guesses before the last book.
I just found this board today. Hello all.

| I've read, Twilight, Morganville's, Blue Bloods and V.A.
Well, I first saw the twilight movie and I thought "All that publicity for THIS movie???.. I don't get why everybody is sooooo into this books" so I said.. lets read the books .. And I have to said the movie really ruined the book... I really like the Twilight's books and get me into the YA fantasy-paranormal romance books .... So since twilight I have read (as a recomendation of amazon.com listmania!) Blue Bloods and I was happy to discover a well writen series with a lot of backstory and references to real history (although there is a lot of fashion and places references that people like me that live in Europe, don't really understand)... Then I buy Mead's Succubus series ..and I looooove the series so I buyed the V.A. to give them a try!!!.... and now I think they're the best series since HP...
Morganville's Vampire are OK, but..there is always a but in this series because is too much bad luck for the 4 protagonists and they are always in a live or death situations.. is not believable...
Vampire's Diaries .... the first book was OHHH I LOVE IT!!! the second one I LIKE IT the third one ITS OK!!!, the fourth one THAT'S IT???? Is the first series that get worse with each book... the 5th book was free on.line this year by the publisher but I pass... ______________
About THE HOST, I read it and like SM says is a sci-fic books for people who don't lke sci-fic!!!! I like the romance and the love/hate realtionships ... I give it a 3,5 in the 0-5 rating

| Like you I too read House of Nights. But the difference between the both is, Rosemarie is more "grown up." But yet that's what makes her special, she needs to act like an adult in order to protect Vasilisa. Shes like you said, Buffy, Fath, etc.... Zoey Redbird, is just a teenage girl who is stuck doing many things because of her ability to control Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, And Spirit. VA out-beats HoN big time when it comes to maturity between both characters. | |

| THis series is definatly not a HON or a twilight book. yes i liked twilight, not a much as i used to. too many screaming girls at the theaters ruined it. Plus vamps dont sparkel and as hard like a dimond. come one people bram stoker made the rules everyone closely follows for vampires. for HON i could only get as far as partway through the 4th book and i lost interest and zoey pissed me off to much. she didnt really seem to grow. thats why i love VA. they follow the general rules with her own twist. i love how Rose can be fierce but at the same time can be sweet. she faces numerous challanges and she arises to the occasion and overcomes them. | |

| I have read too many I started reading Twilight before it got so big and loved it. Still like it, but VA is by far the best according to me. HoN is okey, easy to read and a nice story but I buy and read them when there isn't any other book that I can read. I really got stuck in this "supernatural" world when I found the best bookshop in the world!! (Or okey, maybe in Sweden because I have seen such wonderful bookstores in other countries) But it has a whole section with just this kind of books. I always find something new. | |

| If Victor has a relative who is a spirit user why did he go after Lissa to get her to heal him? Does it say in the books? I can't remember. | |

| Victor's brother Robert is a spirit user. I'm assuming Victor went after Lissa to heal him because she was living at the Academy which made it easy for him to get to her. Robert was off in hiding which didn't make him as accessible to Victor. | |

| Regarding comparisons.... I've read HoN, twilight and VA... Va is by far the best, HoN is actually better than I ecpected, but I don't like twilight.... I mean.... Everybody likes it, but there are not even real vampires in there.... And that pattern with forbidden love and stuff.... Ugh, no more.... | |

Does it say in the books? I can't remember. Victor's brother is too unstable to do something like that. Spirit has already harmed him too much.

He wanted to use Lissa to turn his daughter back as well. He didn't think she'll end up being killed. Not that I'm trying to justify what he did.

In any rate, its still a royal shot to the foot, because if Lissa were able to find out how to help Victor's daughter, it would have saved Dimitri too much unnecessary trouble, to begin with.
