Sweep/Wicca - Cate Tiernan (READ ALONG/DISCUSSION THREAD)

I adore Morgan already. She is so ... real... u know what i mean? Not the over exaggerated or embellished lead characters books tend to have. But a girl that can be anyone. I really like that. I picked up alot of foreshadowing that i noticed since i already know ( the big parts at least) what happens. Cal seems so alluring. I felt awkward for him. When he was announcing Wicca and waiting for people's reception. I would of freaked out. I'm sucked into the story already. I love how descriptive of nature the story is. I feel like I'm right in the story. I have really vivid, colorful pictures in my mind when reading.

I did feel a bit awkward for Cal as well when he was explaining about Wicca. I'm glad some people stayed to join his circle though, and I'm also glad that Morgan's friend Bree has an active role and isn't just the sidekick best friend.

I like Morgan but is it me or is it a little cliche to have female main characters in YA books be all self-deprecating all the time and consider her best friend/boyfriend to be beautiful and out of their league? I hope this is leading up to her maturing and accepting herself...

I didn't feel awkward for him. He's so confident and open, he doesn't mind if people don't want to join the circle and it doesn't seem like he expects them to keep going with it, he wanted company on Mabon.

I got irritated with those who were making fun of the banishing. I mean if you aren't going to take it seriously or at least be completely open minded then you shouldn't have stayed. It was really disrespectful to Cal considering he told them Wicca is his religion. You should never disrespect someone else's religion even if you don't believe it.

That being said, I'm really into BOS so far. I had trouble stopping after 6 chapters last night so I doubt I will be able to stick to 11 chapters a week : /

I hate that part Wilda, because they're being idiots and it sucks. Although, I giggled at Ethan banishing his stepmother, but to be fair he was being serious and he's always stonned at the beginning of BoS, so he probably would have said something more thoughtful.

I thought it was awesome when Cal told those 3 they pretty much weren't welcome anymore haha But I'm proud of them for taking it in stride and not showing their asses about it. Speaking of showing asses, I can NOT stand Bree. The way she acted when she told Morgan that she was going to go after him and then showed her ass over him picking her up and putting her in the pool and accusing her of going after him and then claiming she's in love with him. She really pissed me off. If she'd stop thinking about herself, she would have noticed Morgan likes Cal before she even "claimed" him. UGH! I HATE that. And right now I REALLY dislike Bree.

I know! Bree's such a Bitch! I always have to tell myself not to judge her by her name too. When I was a kid there was a Bree across the road from me, and she was worse than book Bree. Off topic moment I felt so bad for Morgan, because she's there dying to get closer to Cal but knows it'll ruin her friendship with Bree, so she backs off. Bree's a bad friend here not doing the same thing. She's so used to guy falling over themselves to be with her that she forgets they don't HAVE to be with her. Ugh.

lol its hard not to judge others with the same name after you have a bad experience with someone. I'm that way with Ambers.

Anyways, yeah Bree is so full of herself. like I said if she would just stop thinking about herself just once she would notice that morgan is falling for Cal and see how hard she is trying to keep her distance. I broke down and read Chapter 14 and felt soooo bad for Morgan when she told Cal she couldn't go to the circle then cried herself to sleep I reallly hated Bree in that moment.

Whats the big dig with her Mom? Does she know that Morgan is a blood witch? Unless she's adopted, I'm guessing she got it from her mom's side with the way she's freaking out. I know it goes deeper than the normal "wicca is evil" bull other religions pull. Otherwise she wouldn't still be acting like she is after Morgan "got rid" of the books.

I'm dying to read the rest! But I'm really going to try not to. Maybe Last breath will pull me back into Morganville long enough to pull away from Sweep until next week.

I haven't read any more this time time around, but I know how sad that part is too. Morgan's parents are pretty hard on her...that's all I'm going to say because I'm not going to ruin it for you.

Last Breath is pretty awesome Wilda, I'm sure it'll be a good distraction. And if not, keep reading BoS...it's not like we'll shoot you or something for reading ahead

Bree is an even bigger selfish little bitch than I had originaly thought. I can not believe she had the nerve to tell Morgan she no longer wanted her to go to the circles. and then told her that she had bedded Cal and that soon she could start going back. Like everything was all perfectly fine and nothing happed. Pissed me the f*%! off! I was SO proud of Morgan for standing up for herself though. "Since when did you become such a bitch" ..... "Maybe I hung out with you too long." haha that made me cheer out loud.

And at the circle when Cal had Mrogan lay down and then he got behind her and put her head in his lap and then kissed her after telling her that she's a blood witch! Ahh! I wanted to see both Bree's and Raven's faces! Can't believe it ended like that though. I'm seriously dying to read on but I have too many other books to get read. Specifically library books : /

I really hate Bree in the early books. She's a cow. She's never had to compete with Morgan for a guy so instead of dropping the guy you drop your best friend? That's just crap.

I totally forgot about the skinny dipping party. It's weird how everyone except Morgan is cool with it. Its like Cal has some compulsion power. Bree is a total bitch. I can't remember how long it takes for her to some sense.

I know! I would definitely be like Morgan, totally uncomfortable skinny dipping, especially in front of the guy you're sort of crushing on. That's even worse. I get that the wiccan world is a little more open to the idea of going around naked, but these guys have only had 2 circles, so they shouldn't be jumping into pools naked! It's just strange that no-one (other than Morgan) questioned it.
