Evernight series by Claudia Gray

I re-read both Evernight and Stargazer 2 weeks ago, so it's pretty much fresh in my memory. Everytime I read them I feel more and more sorry for Balthazar.

i completly agree. hes like jacob in twilight, or mason in froastbite. hes the good guy she should be with. but its not who she wants.

Exactly, but I feel for him more than I felt for Jacob or Mason. It's one of the first times I've been in love with the underdog, the second place man.

why him? what makes him more special then mason or jacob? he takes it better then the others. more graceful. in the beggining anyeway

I don't know, I think it's more because I don't like Lucas as much as I liked Edward or Dimitri/Adrian. Lucas just pisses me off sometimes which is odd because he does the same sort of thing that edward does (instantly falls for the pretty girl, wants to protect her beyond all reasonable means, etc.) But Balthazar has a certain understanding that makes him more loveable, and he's vulnerable and honest at the same time. Unlike Mason and Jacob, he admits that he wants Bianca but back off unless she wants him to give her his attention, he doesn't push her into anything nor try to gain from her the love he wants. (eg. Jacob's forced kisses in Eclipse, doesn't exactly apply for Mason, but it's close enough.)

there is sort of a unlikeable quality about lucas, i agree. like how he tries to warn her against her parents. before even knowing the full story. and he drags her away from her whole world. right into danger. plus balthazaar is sweet, and hes like a gentalmen and stuff

Exactly. I think Lucas expects too much of her, and the worst part is I don't think Bianca realises it. She's risking so much for him, but he doesn't seem to be doing much in return except saving a couple of vampires from being snuffed.

exactly. and he was born and trained to kill her kind, and least with VA and twilight there sorta on the same team

haha. They're on the same team for now at least (in VA, who knows what Rose and Dimitri will be like now)

thats true. the suspense is killing me!!! cant wait the extra month. 2 or 5 days cant remember till tbe exerpt is up

excerpt is up on the 25th, at least that'll give us something to mull over for a bit.

cant wait. although i think it will make the extra month wait worse. bcoz we will have had a taste for it. what is also annoying is that there isnt that many pics for VA but there are so many for twilight. VA is just as good if not better. so unfair

I do recommend it, especially if you're having vampire related withdrawls. Its not fabulously written but the twists and turns are quite enjoyable.

i never considered that. but it is very romeo and juliet like. but modernised.

I think that description was written on the back of one of the books. But the themes are pretty obvious in it. It's funny how often the R&J plot pops up these days, I suppose it makes for a better storyline than "Our families love each other so lets get together then"

Then again, it would be nice for a newer storyline really. There's only so many ways you can play out the R&J thing.
