Riley started going out with Simon. I mean, I get that she thinks he's nice, but the dude's kind of a pansy. Bleh. Definitely not as cool as Beck. I'm on chapter 25 now. Lost some enthusiasm for this little romance subplot since she's not with Beck. Wishful thinking hoping she'd choose Beck over him I guess. lol

I think Simon's alright, but he's not as cool as Beck. Keep reading, Beck's still cool.

Yes, but after reading the part where Harper put his hand on Riley... Simon freaking called her up worried about facing the old bastard without knowing what she did to make him angry!! Freaking pansy ass. lol Beck would totally bloody that asshole up if he knew. I'm kinda hoping he finds out.

I hate Harper. He's such a crotchety old bugger! Ok, just looked up what chapter you were up to. I love the end of chapter 27. It's such a fun little moment for Beck and Riley

I don't really get Riley's obsession with Simon. I doubt they'll have a lot in common once he's out hunting demons. Yes, I'm shamelessly pulling for Beck here. He's one of those wounded good guys and he cares so much about Riley. And I love that he's such a smartass. Like with the snow? lmao

Beck is the most awesomest demon trapper ever. I don't know how Riley ever decided to give up her crush on him! And, while Simon's an ok guy, he could never compete with Beck. Ori on the other hand is probably more of a competition. But I still don't think he can beat Beck. I love the snow scene and I love how jealous Beck got around Simon and Riley and how he got her that card and the brownies. *sigh* I <3 Beck!

I completely forgot about that!! lmao I kept thinking about when they were throwing snowballs at each other and the on the way out of the garage he was like "There's snow up on the fifth level. Thought ya might like to know. Y'all have a nice day now!!" hehe I love that part.

But geez... how many guys is she going to get with? One or two I can understand. I hope she doesn't do anything with Ori. Something seems off about that guy to begin with, but then for her to date him? Bleh. I'm actually harboring this desire to write Riley/Beck fanfic because I don't like her with anyone else. lol

I like the mysteriousness of Ori, he's secretive and cool. I like him better than Simon. But no-one will beat Beck for me.

Beck's all cheeky and protective. It's ironic that he pushed Riley away for so long and ends up developing a crush on her...but I think it's more than a crush. They better end up together

Yeah, they'd better end up together. I think it's cute how he feels about her and she's all oblivious. lmao I hope she figures it out soon though. I wonder if in book 2 she'll be set on Ori though? Because in the synopsis on goodreads it mentions how she starts feeling something for a guy that's bad news... It sounds like the thing between her and Simon isn't going to work out. I'm hoping this other guy is Beck. But not the bad news part. lol Beck isn't bad news. He's just misunderstood.

Well, a lot of twitter hinting from Jana says nothing major is going to happen between Riley and Beck in book 2, but book 3's ending is still a mystery. Her words (and don't quote me on this because I don't have twitter open and can't find her exact reply) were: things have to get worse before they can get better for Riley and Beck.

I'm really hoping that Jana will be able to write another 3 books. She's got ideas in her head, she just hasn't got the contract extended. I think they have to see how the first couple do rating wise.

"Nothing much" means SOMETHING might still happen. *fingers crossed* I love Beck's big brother attitude, even though you know it's because he cares way more than he thinks he should. Gah I'm officially obsessed with this couple.

I still think Ori's kind of a creeper. I don't trust him, even if he did save her at the end there. But what do we really know about him? Beck hides things, but only because he's ashamed of his past.

Which somehow just reminded me of those condoms she found in his glove compartment. I wonder what kind of shock is gonna go through her mind if she ever sees him using one of those while trapping a demon. I hope this happens in book 2. I'm already laughin my ass off!!

I don't remember the glove-box thing, but it has been almost 5 months since I read the book, so I'm bound to forget some things. I'm going to try and reread it before August...once I get through everything else.

I think that's the whole point though. To have another guy around that's so totally different to what Riley's comfortable around. With Simon and Beck, Riley's known them forever. But Ori turns up out of the blue (well, mostly out of the blue since I knew he was coming thanks to the blurb on the back of the book!) and helps her change tyres and saves her from geo-fiends. She'll be infatuated, but it can't last, not with beck around.

The part with the condoms in Beck's glove compartment happens at the beginning after Riley's gone to the Guild meeting where they discuss whether she should continue her apprenticeship after the law library fiasco. She's fishing around in his truck and finds his gun and the EXTRA large condoms. She's all "in your dreams". lmao I don't remember when you find out (and I'm pretty damn sure I didn't imagine it), but Beck actually uses them to fill with Holy Water because you can't use the glass spheres in certain places.

Did it ever say what happened to those two guys who stole Riley's demon? I can't remember if they got a what-for.

I don't remember if it did, but I doubt they survived. That demon was psycho...and frankly I don't mind, they were bastards so they deserved whatever they got.

And here I was hoping Beck had taught them a lesson. lol What a damn shame. I kinda hope they didn't get eaten though, because I'd still like Beck to show em what-for.

What did you think of Peter at the end? He made me angry. It's really crappy of him to just drop Riley like that after they'd been friends so long. Especially at a time where she could have used some support. I mean, the poor girl has no one (except Beck, but she doesn't fully realize how awesome that is yet).

I was so angry at Peter (what's with Peters these days? Demon trappers AND Divergent *huff*) He'd been so supportive of her throughout the book, looking into her dad's files and defying his mother to talk to her. And then he just drops her....some friend he is.
Well, technically she has Simon too...
My biggest concern is what the Angels are going to make her do. She pretty much made a deal with the devil, only the devils with wings!

I know I read the whole book, but it feels like I'm missing some things. I might have gone through the last couple chapters too quickly. So she did in fact make a deal with the Angels in order to keep Sam alive? Way to bribe mankind's only hope. I'm still left wondering why Hell/Heaven chose her. What's so special about Riley that both sides need her? You think it'll have to do with her Blackthorne ancestors?
