| Ok, so interview went really well. The lady interviewing me was really nice. She had this list of questions to ask, which I hope I answered well, things like do I know the difference between copy editing, structural editing and proofreading; what are my strengths and weaknesses; did I know their books and what other YA books do I read. She was laughing along with me so I take that to be a good sign. She said 250 people applied for the job O_O And that the list of people she picked for a first interview was longer than she'd hoped, but she was getting through it. We chatted about the job and other random things, like holidays and how dry grammar books can be. The interview went for about 40 mins. And she said she picked me because I'd mentioned I was doing the Macleay course and because I said how much I liked YA books. Then she asked if I thought working with children's books was just a stepping stone to get into some other form of editing (which of course I said wasn't because I like kids books) and then she told me what the editorial assistant's role would be and that she probably won't get back to people she's contacting for a second interview for 2 weeks.
EDIT: Just have to vent something else. My sisters are pissing me off. I love them both and like spending time with them, but I hate when they're around each other. They're like genetically wired to argue/hate each other...I'm not exaggerating but I know I'm the only one who gets along with both of them. It's not a new thing for me, but I'm still surprised at how often they get on each other's nerves. Ugh.

| Ana- i agree. yesterday was such a crazy day, i woke up kind of sick today too but im still hoping its a much better day.
Thanks Kim and Libby
yeah it was rough day emotionally. They hubby and I are having a hard time coping with his cancer. We went to see his doctor yesterday and they keep telling us "everything is good" , "all the scans look good" but then they do things like up his chemo dosage and he's getting sicker and sicker on treatment. He was scheduled for another MRI ( he just had one!) and she is sending us to a special cancer center she works out of for better treatment. It' frustrating, and i feel so helpless. While, we're happy she is sending us to the best place, its like why is it even necessary if everything is good. And he feels confronted with his mortality and abandoned from family and friends. He feels like no one ( besides me) cares he is dying and fighting for his life. Sigh.

| Tasha: I can understand how frustrated that would make you feel. I get that they're trying to eliminate any future problems by agressively going after everything now, but if it's affecting him so much they should be taking that into consideration. They should definitely explain why it's necessary to switch facilities. I'd freak out too if I was told everything was fine, but we'll take you to somewhere that can handle "fine" better. Hang in there, use your amazing strength. We're all here for you. | |

| Tasha, I'm so sorry about everything. I understand the frustration with the doctor saying one thing then uping the chemo and sending him to a better place. It's majorly stressful and stress is the last thing your hubby needs. I agree with Kim, the doctor should do more explaining and think about the way things sound and all. Just hang in there hun. Sending lots of love and big hugs! Sorry for being mia again. My internet is an evil punk Blah, my son will be 3 tomorrow (Sunday July 10th). I was looking at pics from just a year ago, and he's grown SO much. He's growing up way too damn fast, my daughter too. Before I know it, they'll be teenagers Ok enough whinning lol How is everyone? Did I miss anything?? | |

| My football team finally won a game today! They haven't won for 4 weeks and it was starting to get a little depressing. But Today they (and their junior squad) won! It was so cool...and also a freaking cold day...so I was frozen, but happy (would have been even happier if the stupid hot chips we got at half time were actually HOT! gr)
Hope everyone's well. | |

| Thanks Love <3
Wilda- happy birthday to your son. <3
Kim- i find it funny, we live on opposite sides of the world. I'm dying for the cold! I vacationed in Texas and the heat there doesn't bother me too much, but back in NY it's just sticky dry heat and since i live in a house we pay for electric so we can't use the air conditioner all the time. So i'm anxious for summer to end already, but we have two more months of summer weather :-(.

| Tasha: I don't mind the cold sometimes, but I love the heat...I like the comfort of it and the clothes choices. In winter I find myself wearing the same things over and over again. I know summer's hard sometimes too, because of all the humidity and heat (yuck), and it sucks when it's super hot at night because there's just no way to sleep. But we got an air con this year and just putting it on for a couple of hours in the middle of the day made the house super cool...so I like summer. | |

| It doesn't matter what time of year it is, I always manage to be freezing. During the summer my brothers will have the air conditioner running pretty much non-stop and I'll be forced to wear a sweater indoors. Forget winter. I'm always cold. At least during the summer I can go outside and warm up. lol | |

| Lol, oh Ash you're one of those people, you can never get warm. But you're right, at least in summer you can go outside in the sun.
I was FREEZING last night! My mum laughed at me shivering and said "You know, it's not really all that cold at the moment." And I know she just spent a week in the mountains and snow, but she didn't spend 5 hours sitting in a football stadium with icy winds blowing everywhere.

| Had a pretty good day. Caught up with friends tried to talk them into going to the Nalini Singh signing with me but they had to work to prep for sem 2 orientation. There weren't that many people at the signing. The book shop workers let me cut in so I hardly had to wait. She was really nice. Haven't read enough of her stuff discuss how cool plot twists were but there was time to do that. Found out Maria Snyder of Inside Out fame is heading to Aust\NZ. Should get around reading her books. Hope Richelle makes in down sometime soon. Probably won't happen with the baby. Weather wise it's been a pretty mild winter in NZ this year. Maybe August will be colder. | |

| Libby: I found out about Maria Snyder the other day too. I've only read Inside Out of hers and I'm still not sure if I'll go meet her yet...I'll have to decide closer to August. | |

| Thanks ladies, he had a great birthday Blah, the weather here keeps ruining my summer plans. I was hoping to have lots of pool time but it keeps raining and storming. It's great reading weather, but my kids are stuck inside and so they keep driving me crazy. I so desperately need a break from my two little monsters *sigh* Whats new with everyone? | |

| YES. Jedi is the only admin/mod I've ever seen on here and she hasn't been on in a few weeks now. It's gotten really out of hand. I wonder if it's possible to make this forum private? There's not a lot we can do as it is. They just keep making new accounts. | |

| I know it is possible to make forums private, i was a member of a private creative writing website. Chris (Ivashkov ) was an admin too but she hasn't been on in a while and i messaged her on face book a few weeks back and she said she has been busy. We should have a election or something. Nominate ACTIVE members to be mods at least that way we can at least delete random posts.
OMG Libby, thanks for mentioning that. I know a few people going to a midnight showing ( it's Thursday in my part of the world and so its the midnight premiere tonight) and they will most definitely blab about it on Facebook. I'll get my face book time in early today :-)

| Ugh I've been trying to get a hold of Jedi again. It's been a month since last time and the spam has just exploded. Banning them didn't really do much when they can easily make new accounts (which I've been keeping tabs, and there's new ones every week seems like). I think my brothers and I were going to go see Winnie the Pooh this week because everyone and their grandmother will probably be at HP. | |
