Aw, I'm glad you had fun Tasha.

I spent the day making chocolate-chip biscuits (cookies Rolling Eyes ) with my friend. She can't cook at all, was never really taught as a kid and never got into the swing of things. So since I'm practically her big sister I thought I'd start teaching her a few simple things and she wanted to start with biscuits. It was really fun and we succeeded Smile (yay!)

Sounds delicious! And it gave it me a flashback of Rose and Christian , when Rose was guarding Christian and he was cooking that meatloaf wrapped in bacon. lol

I don't know how to cook really either. I mean i can do basic stuff, but feeding yourself and cooking meals is two different stories lol.

My mom is not a good cook, but still she can cook decent. I guess she can cook good when she wants too like holidays. I asked countless times for her to teach me but she never has. I tried to force her to teach but i just got chased away with a chopping knife.

I would teach myself, but i still live at home. My mom gets quite offended if someone cooks something different than what she cooked. We grew up with her " you eat what i cook or you don't eat at all" rule.

Oh, one of those rules. When my sisters and I got old enough to make basic meals (like baked beans on toast and nachos etc.) Mum would be like "If you don't like what I've cooked suffer or make your own meal". But we rarely picked those options because she's a really good cook so we always enjoy what she makes (and so do the neighbours whenever we have street gatherings) it's part of the reason I was teaching my friend because she knows how good my mum is at food-y stuff so she trusts me Razz
It's not like Mum's done anything special/grown up with cultural food-y backgrounds (not trying to stereotype or anything, but you know when some people just seem to have it in their blood), and she's not a professional chef or something like that. But she's just always cooked and the majority of things she cooks is fabulous.

She's taught me some things, and is will to teach more, so *fingers crossed* I'll be half as good as her.

I take after my mom she's an awesome cook. I love to cook and learn new recipes. So far I'm not much of a baker unless it comes in a box ready to be missed lol My in-laws love my cooking and they are pretty hard to impress. I've got my kids on the whole eat what I cook or do without rule. My daughter is so picky its ridiculous Rolling Eyes

Lol. I'm Irish and Guyanese so my mom does cook West Indian food quite alot. If anything, i can cook a little bit of Spanish food because of my boyfriend. His parents are amazing cooks and so he learned a little something something.
I think cause i grew up with that rule with my mom, i get really annoyed when for incidence, my boyfriends parents- they have a 4 year old, and they cook separate meals for their son. I understand being a little selective. But this kid is too young and he is already spoiled. Rolling Eyes

Lol when i was little, i wouldn't eat any meat besides chicken. So my mom told me everything was chicken and i ate it. Lol.

Wilda- I can bake pretty well, sweet things seem to work for me. It's the other stuff I struggle, well not really struggle, but have difficulties with at least. I'm not really used to prefecting things to me own liking etc. I can follow receipe's fine enough but sometimes they come out too bland or just not as special as mum's cooking...lol.

Tasha - Omg, we have family friends who do the same thing to their kid. Since she was little it was always "What do you want for breakfast?" and the kid would name 5 different things before she settled on something, only she'd change her mind after the dish had been made and the parents would throw out the first meal and make the next one. They did the same thing with their daily activities and clothing choices and such. The kid had the control and she would scream if she didn't get what she wanted. Now she's a spoiled brat...it's ridiculous. I mean, there's just a level of control the child shouldn't have access to. I can only imagine what she'll be like as a teenager since she's only just approaching 6 years of age.

lol, I like your mum's tactics.

I was like a carnivore when I was younger, but then, when I went into sixth grade, I started cutting back on meat and now I am a vegetarian. I can cook, if by cooking you mean sticking food in the microwave and/or making pasta. Anytime I try to make pastry type stuff or desserts, they always turn out wrong. It's slightly humorous though because I end up coated in flour.

wow she sounds like a really spoiled brat. I have a niece who was like that still is to a point but she's 13 now so she's outgrown it some.

as far as recipes go I usually follow the directions at first but then experiment with them until I like it. Remember you can always add but never take out.

We had to take my son to the er this morning. He slammed his head down on the bottom shelf of the entertainment center and busted his eyebrow open. He now has 4 stitches. idk if it hurt him or me more lol. He's napping right now. but I think he will be scared to death of doctors from now on...

One can only hope it is outgrown and not worsened with age. With my bf's little brother, i fear it will only get worse. He was actually getting bullied in school. He's parents took him out of school altogether. I know as a parents its hard to let your kid go through something like that. But this little kid LOVES wrestling and that's all he talks about and all he watches. He walks around the house like a King dictating orders and play fighting and always has something smart to say. I never expected he would get bullied in school. But, in all honestly, i think it'll be good for him. He gets away with murder while home. He needs to experience that the school atmosphere brings and i think it would humble him. Granted he is just a child, but i fear the parents will always cater to him in a non productive way.

Aw! Ochy! I hope your son is alright!

Wilda- Omg! Your poor son. I hope he's alright.

Totally reminds me of something that happened to me a few years ago. (not as bad as your son though) I got out of the shower and felt dizzy and ended up fainting and hitting my head on the toilet seat. I got a small cut just above my eye and my mum and I went around trying to work out why I fainted in the first place (we think I was dehydrated and the heat from the shower just made it come out more). Anyway, I didn't have to go to the hospital but I was going to see an eye specialist later that day because I'd been doing this strange blinking thing every year and my GP was worried that the drops he was giving me were only making it worse. But the Eye-guy saw the cut, asked what happened, then looked at my mum and was like "Do you want your mother to leave?" He thought she'd been beating me. Fair enough I suppose, but my mum has never hit me in my life so I had to stop myself from laughing at the suggestion.

Tasha- That's what is so good about school, it sort of grounds kids. While parents should have the most influence on kids learning rules/boundaries; Schools help push that along. Has your boyfriend's brother been going to school for long?

Tyler is fine. he's been running around playing and being his typical Drama king self lol. Sometimes he'll put his hand on his head and go ow but he's good. He gets the stitches removed in about 4 days.

My daughter Isabelle is all about wrestling around and rough play and she gets bullied a little on the school bus but won't do anythign about it except tell me. I've talked to the parents once and we keep telling her to fight back etc but she won't. But I won't keep going to the parents b/c we're trying to teach her to stand up for herself and all. Maybe its a school thing (on top of being spoiled)

I just had a music competition today where I had to play a solo. I was doing pretty okay with my nerves (I am a terribly nervous person) and then, my accompanist told me she lost my music so I had to play a solo in front of a judge all by myself without the piano. I got the best rating though! The judge was proud of me for going on without it. Sorry, just wanted to tell people. It's exciting.

My parents are having a bbq today...which is quite funny because the deck is covered in snow..lol.

I'm about to spend some time getting ready and dressed and do my hair. Then we are going to hang with my family for the bbq. Then I'm going to celebrate vday with my bf by having a drink in our champagne glasses ( minus the champange he doesn't like anything alcoholic, I think I'll make some Kool Aid.. lol) and have candles lite and give him the card with a poem i wrote and playing a music track I had his best friend make. Then we are going to stay indoors and just watch movies. No video games for him. No facebook, ( he never said no shadow bite lol) or reading for me. Nice mellow day.. hopefully.

That sounds like a wonderful day. I like how you specified things he can't do but yet he neglects to really specify. I am going to go see my friend's concert today. There are a few nice things to being single on Valentine's Day though. Like the fact that since I don't have a boyfriend (who probably wouldn't do anything anyway since he'd probably be too immature,) my parents feel the need to be my Valentine so my mom is going to buy me a necklace and I am sure I'll get some form of chocolate today. Smile

Although it sounds like your Valentine's with a boyfriend is pretty good too.

Me too, It's so sad that something like that can happen in a sports competition.

on another note: Australia just won a silver medal. Yay for Dale Begg-Smith.
