| Iron Crowned Spoilers - Spoiler:
Well, I'm pissed.
I don't even know where to begin. Honestly.
Firstly, I really think Eugenie overreacted to Dorian's "betrayal". What did she expect, exactly? He's always been the same, a manipulator. He's always going to try to get things to go his way, and he's always been honest about what he wants from her, so that shouldn't have been a surprise either. But he's always done it with her best interests in mind. She didn't even give him a chance to explain. She thinks so little of him and expects him to be the bad guy when all along he's been trying to HELP her. Yet she's so quick to go back to Kiyo, someone who very obviously doesn't support who she is, much less what she does. Is Eugenie just too stupid to realize that this is the exact kind of behavior she should expect from Dorian? His withholding of information from her was no reason to jump into bed with Kiyo (it felt more like she was grasping for reasons to and that was the best she could come up with?). And actually, "jumping into bed" was putting it mildly. It was way less dignified than that.
Secondly, Kiyo? Are you effing kidding me?! GAH. I really hated that she immediately started sleeping with him again after breaking up mentally with Dorian. I wanted to throw my book across the room when that happened. I'd hated Kiyo before and didn't think it was possible for me to hate him even more, but IC proved me wrong. Now I find him absolutely DISGUSTING. He gets Eugenie pregnant and has no remorse over killing her if it means his son won't conquer the human world even though they can't know if it will happen or not. Oh, but Kiyo can't take any chances. What a f*cking sleaze. And all that stuff towards the end with trying to force Eugenie to get an abortion was just horrible. I think Eugenie did the right thing in keeping the twins, even though it means her kids will be stuck with that a-hole as their biological father. I'm seriously praying for a miracle that the kids will end up being Dorian's biologically after all even though I know it's not likely (though not entirely impossible since the "sticky fingers" went in a certain place).
Thirdly, I have a lot of respect for men/women that raise another's child as their own even if they are not biologically theirs. I didn't think I could love Dorian any more than I already did, despite the bad light he was cast in in the earlier part of the book, but I do. He is the only one Eugenie should be with and she was seriously stupid to ditch him for Kiyo at all (betrayal or not). Though now I think he could do better. But he still saved her from Kiyo in the end and still sounds like he wants to be with her even though she's pregnant with Kiyo's kids. He's honestly too worthy of Eugenie. He deserves to have his own kids.
About the only good thing that came out of this story was Eugenie's and Jasmine's developing relationship. It was nice to see them becoming more like sisters and watching those feelings of genuine love/concern for the other develop. I also liked Tim and Lara and Shaya and Rurik's little budding romances. It was totally hilarious when Tim and Lara met in person. It was so obvious they had the hots for each other.
There are a lot of things I hated about this book, but of course I'm still going to read the rest of the series. I like Dorian too much to ditch him now, and I think he's pretty much the only reason why I even want to read the next book because of how he saved Eugenie. I think I'm more disgusted with the fact that Kiyo got Eugenie pregnant at all, then he freaking blames her for it and tries to kill her because his precious Maiwenn told him to. I really want to castrate that mother f*cker and set him fire.
But for someone who so adamantly doesn't want to get pregnant, Eugenie has quite a lot of unprotected sex. And same with Kiyo. Erm, if he really wanted to make sure she wouldn't get pregnant... maybe he shoulda tried staying out of her bed. *duh*

Iron Crowned Spoilers - Spoiler:
I agree with everything you said Ash. I was so disappointed in this book. I know we were all sort of prepared for a dramatic 3rd book, as per RM's usual pattern, but I can honestly say I think she over did it this time. I HATED Eugenie throughout the majority of this book. When she's claiming she gets completely sick thinking Dorian is off fighting, risking his life, but then a few hours later she's having sex with Kiyo because "Dorian's so evil"... it kills me. Yes, I know Dorian does have a habit of withholding information when it comes to Eugenie and power-play, but seriously did she honestly believe the Crown did nothing? Why would anyone bother bringing it up if all it did was look pretty? I've never smiled so little before in a book that I've been waiting desperately for. I think the only times I loved Eugenie in this book were when she risked her life to save Jasmine and used the crown to rip Katrice of her land (I really enjoyed those scenes...she was a lot more herself: powerful and assertive) I loved that there was a family loyalty going on between Jasmine and Eugenie. Staying in Tucson together, charging ipods, going to ultrasound appointments. If the book had any redeeming qualities they were in Jasmine. I love her. I loved that Eugenie made sure not to leave Jasmine with Kiyo in the end, taking the risk of being hurt in the man-made gateway to Dorian's just so Kiyo couldn't use Jasmine against her. SO yeah, Jasmine can stay Dorian had my love for the entire book. I didn't think what he did was wrong. I know he withheld the Iron Crown's full powers, but I honestly think he didn't want her to go at first, the risk was too big. It was only when Eugenie was intent on going no matter what Dorian thought that He pushed her into it more. Yes he could have told her everything, but Eugenie never would have gone for it and the war would have continued. He never fails to disappoint me, although I'm sort of concerned that he keeps going back to Eugenie when she keeps jumping ship so often, but whatever. He can't help who he loves. I really do believe he loves her completely, children and all. The other part I loved was Eugenie's decision to keep the twins. Sure, she might not really want a son that'll destroy the human world, but she couldn't do it once she'd heard the heartbeats. I really thought that was special. Kiyo was the biggest disappointment. I never liked him before, but I was ready to strangle him when he said that he'd missed having sex with Eugenie. Sure, that's the most romantic think he could have said to her after she finds out her boyfriend's a liar. And then, to be willing to kill her in order for the prophecy to not come to pass AND strangle Rowland to get ot her...it's ridiculous! I HATED him for "marking" Eugenie in order to track her down...it's almost like he had that as a back up plan already, something him and maiwenn had come up with to track Storm King's heir and "dispose" of it. I always disliked him, but I never thought he'd be psycho-crazy-killer-fox. Some twitter friends and I want to skin him. We want fox-fur coats!!!!

| Thanks for the spoiler tabs! As tempting as it still is, I'm not going to read them. IC arrived Saturday but I still haven't read Thorn Queen. Hoping to read it after I get done with Darkest Mercy. I'm just dying to know why everyone is irritated/angry with IC. | |

lol, I know, it's hard not to read them when the spoilers are right in front of you. I've got to read Darkest Mercy soon too, but my sister's going to read it first, so it might be a while

Agree. This book still frustrates me even though it's been a week since I read it.

To my ....this is the worst so far...I hope the next one its good enough to fix the series because if she keeps switching back and forth Kiyo need to be killed and Dorian needs to do it , like he did with that other piece of crap . I was sooo F angry when she "dumped" Dorian and went to Kiyo right away...I couldn't believe that she would betrayed Dorian like that...agh!

I don't want Dorian to kill Kiyo. I want Eugenie to do it. If Dorian kills Kiyo, Eugenie might not respond the same way as in Thorn Queen. Kiyo is evil, and we all know, and I guess Eugenie knows it too, but she's stupidly always loved him, so killing him might hurt her chances with Dorian.

Who really knows what Eugenie's going to do since she's not been acting like her normal self since Thorn Queen. I don't care WHO kills Kiyo but that mother f*cker needs to die!!! I wouldn't even mind if Jasmine did the honors. Volusian would be even better.

Yes he does and the sooner the better along with his bitchy gf , but I have to admit gotta love Volusian , always whising and saying horrible things to Eug , it kind of sound funny when they were going into the cave and when she asked him about Tim and Lara and he said that they were still in the house and naked...

| *tries hard not to read all the IC spoilers *sigh* Thorn Queen Spoiler: - Spoiler:
I'm on page 300 where Leith rapes Eugenie Even though i knew it was coming, I still wasn't prepared. I want to reach through the book and rip him apart very slowly and painfully. He loves her my ass. If you love someone, you would NEVER force them to do anything especially that! GAH!
ok now back to reading TQ so I can read IC... EDIT: - Spoiler:
Kiyo, Kiyo, Kiyo *sigh* my love for him has lessened. He should have been the one to kill Leith or at the least wanted to. But no, he talked Eugenie out of it-and she had EVERY right to kill him, and then Dorian was the one to step up to the palte not even hesitating. My love for him was already growing and that move made my love skyrocket. I still have my love for Kiyo but if he's not willing to kill someone who raped his girlfriend the woman he claims to love simply b/c he's royalty, then he has no business being with a Queen. And wtf is up with him not wanting her as Queen? He had NO problem dating Maiween and knocking her up. He just made me SO mad in this book! And it was like he only came around, had sex, and then took off! I understand he had a baby on the way but geez at least stick around a little while. I think distance is something they both need. Idk who I want Eugenie with but I definitely think it's time to give Dorian a chance.
Now onto start Iron Crowned EDIT again: - Spoiler:
I just made a HUGE mistake. I only read 1 line on the last page, but it happened to be a very spoilery line. I immediately slammed the book shut and my mouth dropped to the floor. I'm in shock. I knew it was going to happen, but I didn't think it would be in book 3 of the series

on Thorn Queen - Spoiler:
I was always a Dorian fan rather than a Kiyo fan, but Kiyo was an arse for not wanting to step up and protect Eugenie. I get that he might not have actually gone through with killing Leith, but he could have entertained the idea of going through with it. Dorian's the better man.
I'm sorry you read Iron Crowned spoilers. That the same sort of thing I already knew going into the book. I knew what happened, I just didn't know how. As far as I remember, the Dark Swan series is only going to have 4 books, so it makes sense that shocking things have to happen in bk 3. A twitter friend of mine refers to RM's shocking moves as bookthreeitis, because book three is always the shocker in RM books.

| AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Spoiler:
I just finished reading IC and I feel...sick. I am SO disgusted with Kiyo! I knew from the beginning he was dead set against the prophecy coming true but to just get rid of his OWN children! On top of that get rid of the woman he claims he loves in order to make sure it doesn't come true! Oh and the fact that he went to Maiwenn first thing and blabbed! And then finding out he marked her after finding out she was pregnant! Idk what pissed me of more. I always liked Kiyo but the moment Eugenie cheated on Dorian (mentally broke up with him my ass) with him, my dislike started to rise. I knew something major would happen other thn the pregnancy-although the twins part was a huge surprise, but I never expected him to have gone all psycho-crazy-Eugenie-baby-killer! I'm just...I'm seeing red right now. Lots and lots of bloodlust stirred up in me...
Onto better topics, I loved watching Eugenie and Jasmine becoming sisters. I started liking her from the beginning of the book and by the end I absolutely loved her! They became fiercely protective over eachother and I couldn't be happier with that part.
As for Dorian, Eugenie overreacted. I understand being angry, but the fact that she jumped from loving Dorian so much to hating him and fucking Kiyo made me dislike her. She couldn't seem to amke up her damn mind. I was startled by Dorian's rebuking her hospitaling and welcome, but he had every right too. My heart broke for him at that moment when it dawned on him that she cheated on him. I really became attached to him in this book. But I don't like seeing him jumping back to Eugenie so quickly. I think they both need to be seperate for a bit. I know they love eachother and I truely believe she was only with Kiyo b/c of Dorian, but Dorian does deserve better and they shouldn't be together until she straightens up and acts like the person she was and not the...whatever it is she became.
I was Proud of her when she used the Iron Crown and stripped Katrice of her land. Kidnapping Jasmine was a real low and she deserved to have been stripped of the land. I hope to see Eugenie be that person in the net book for theres going to be a major war on her hands...
And I hope by the end of this series, both Kiyo and Maiwenn get what they deserve...
btw, I truely don't think the twins are Kiyo's. Maybe thats just hopes, but I have a feeling that they are Dorian's.

AGREE with EVERYTHING. - Spoiler:
Pretty much the only way I could forgive what Eugenie pulled in IC is if the kids turn out to be Dorian's after all. Otherwise... I don't know. I've already lost all respect for her. WTF was she thinking in getting back with Kiyo?? I mean, it's not like he hasn't withheld information from her before either (baby with Maiwenn, being sent to assassinate her, etc.). But Kiyo is like the WORST possible boyfriend in existence what with how he constantly criticizes her efforts without ever attempting any effort of his own. And the way he tries to change her to fit his own ideal is just reprehensible and she allows him to do it again and again. Yet the second Dorian makes an attempt using less demeaning tactics to BETTER her (albeit through sneaky and manipulative means) she goes ballistic and holds a silly grudge against this person she "loves". And what a skank!! Dorian TOTALLY deserves better than that.

| I completely agree however, - Spoiler:
I think the reason why Eugenie couldn't forgive Dorian like she could Kiyo was b/c she loved and trusted him a lot more than she did Kiyo therefore it hurt her more which she turned to anger and got with Kiyo as revenge which was SO wrong! I was ready to jump through the book and slap some damn sense into her! Kiyo is an ass, I see that now. I've always disliked how he treated Eugenie being a Queen and her magic becoming so strong, but I thought he was like that out of worry and fear, but no I don't think that was the reason. He may have fallen for Eugenie and cared about her, but his loyalty has been to Maiwenn the whole time. He played Eugenie to a point trying to keep her from fulfilling the Prophecy-which he did an awful job at.
I still think the twins are Dorian's though

| I agree with everything you guys are saying, - Spoiler:
I HATED Kiyo SO MUCH in this book. Eugenie wasn't my fave either, but at least she did do a few good things when Jasmine was involved. I can try and forgive her a bit (I'm not making any promises, but at least she had a bit of a head of her shoulders for her sister). I can't believe Kiyo marked her, and it kills me to think he could be so uncaring, just because of the prophecy. I too REALLY want Dorian to be the father, and my twitter friends and I have been endlessly dicussing whether it could be possible. Heather (hungrycookiemonster on here) even asked a friend who works in a pharmacy about how quickly the antibiotics would have cancelled out the pill. Another friend went through the book to see how far Eugenie was and whether it matched up with her sex life...we didn't really come up with anything solid, but we did determine it could go either way. SO fingers crossed for Dorian sperm being the winners!

| I did the same thing Kim - Spoiler:
and it really is possible he's the Father. I truely believe he is. I'll be highly disappointed and angry if it turns out to be Kiyo. I still can't get over how quickly he changed! UGH! Now I'm getting all worked up again I just can't help[ thinking he played Eugenie the entire time. Yes I believe he cared for her, but with how quick he was to try and force her to get rid of the babies or kill Eugenie just told me something was off. After all Maiwenn had him mark her from the very beginning so whose to say they weren't working together this entire time to make sure Storm Kings grandson wasn't born and its obvious he would do ANYTHING to keep that from happening so playing Eugenie from the beginning wouldn't surprise me.

- Spoiler:
I just think it's a really SHITTY way to get back at someone. Eugenie has no respect for herself either. It's truly disgusting and so so low of her. I'm so disappointed in the decisions she makes in this book. I'm just hoping for something good out of this and that Dorian will get kids of his own whether they're with Eugenie or not. He just deserves so much better. I knew where things were headed once Eugenie was prescribed those antibiotics, but I hadn't expected her to pull the crap she did with Kiyo. For once I was upset to be right about a prediction.

I know! That's probably what happened. Kiyo was only around her to make sure the Storm King prophecy didn't happen. It kills me, but mostly because Dorian was hurt so much. I hate knowing he was so crushed. He puts on a tough surface, but he can be hurt just like others, and Eugenie hurt him bad.

| So far I am agreeing with you guys - Spoiler:
I'm hoping Dorian is the father because time and time again I'm not liking Kiyo and am disappointed in him. I understand where he is coming from but still it doesn't justify it. As for Eugene keeping the kids I am indifferent on the matter. Se just needs to admit her gentry side or her human side and stop living in denial, she needs to choose. In all the craziness I hope this brings her and roland and her mom back together. But I know that would put them in danger Kiyo knows how much her family means to her, he and Maiwen and others who oppose the prophecy could kidnap them as pawns to force eugene to give up the children. That wouldn't surprise me. (Just a side thought about the prophecy. It says the grandson of storm king will rule with the help of his mother. I was wondering that doesn't have to mean Eugene of jasmine because if one of them had a daughter, and that daughter grew up and had a son the prophecy can still be true. So it shouldn't have mattered weather or not eugene's babys were a girl or a boy. By eugene having a girl she would open her daughter up for assassination attempts and rape attempts as well.) LIke I said that's just me logic speaking there. In the end of this series I hope Eugene and Dorian end up together. I do think this book will turn out to be about a self fulfilling prophesy though. Because so many people are against it they are backing eugene into corners forcing her to full fill it. She had to go after the iron crown, she was left with no alternative then to take the rowan lands, with this new development she might be forced to conquer Maiwen's land and any of her opposition. These are all things that eugene doesn't want but her enemies are forcing these situations upon her, thus the self fulfilling prophecy.

| Really excited knowing the 4th book title, and part of me is glad its not coming out until January 2012...there's too many books out at the moment anyway, and I'm still not over Iron Crowned yet.
Cool graphic novel pics, although I can't get as into the graphic novel because it's not an international thing.

| Blech my stomach turned when I saw the ones with Kiyo. I thought I would like them cause I loved him in SB but he ruined my image of him in IC. Idk if I'll be able to reread this series b/c of him and that makes me mad.
Kim, that really sucks that you guys don't get the graphic novels.
I've never been into them but I plan on getting this one and the VA one.
Normally when I have to wait so long for a book, I feel liek its forever, but like you Kim, I'm still not over IC. Now if it came out tomorrow I'd rush to get it but I think we all need the 10 months to cope after that hurricaine Richelle threw at us.

| I know, I'm going to have a heaps hard time rereading the series too. Thank god Dorian is still a constant cool-factor in the series. He doesn't seem to do anything that I dislike, he's awesome!
We're getting the VA one, but that's because Penguin's so into VA over here...it's like their main YA series these days. But the Dark Swan ones are limited to the US so far. I'm still not sure if I'll get the VA one or not. I haven't quite made my mind up yet.
