What's everyone up to?

Oh I'm glad your job thing is working out. Crossing my fingers things keep going smoothly.

For those who don't follow me on twitter or facebook, my mom is home from the hospital. She's doing much better. She's got a lot of tests coming up but hopefully everything will be fine.

Also, my hubby and I went in for our first ultrasound. This isn't 100%, but it looks as if we are having a GIRL! I am so excited! I told him from the beginning I felt like she was a girl and he was so sure it was a boy. We go back in November for another ultrasound bc she was being stubborn and laying on her head so the tech couldn't get the measurements they'd like. Plus she wants to do a double check on gender just to be sure. Now watch, being that I've announced it everywhere, watch it be a boy lol

I FINALLY GOT A JOB!!!

It's at JCPenny. I went for the first interview yesterday and I made an impression because they asked me why did i pick JCPenny and naturally I have no censor so i said " Because of Ellen of course!" Ellen Degeneres is the spokesperson for JCPenny. I had the interviewer laughing so hard with my response. Then today it was a group interview and ALL three of us got hired on the spot. They are going to call us next week to schedule training. So it'll be a little bit before i actually see work and a paycheck. But, i'm SOOO excited. It's a seasonal job too, so i'm only temp. But, i'll take it. There is always the chance of them keeping me if i make an impression and so far I'm off to a great start! As i was walking out the office i heard the managers talking and hear them say " I LOVE HER!" I'm still smiling over that. Glad I overheard it.

:-) I'm so happy. I was super depressed thinking about Christmas and not being able to get anyone a gift. I"m not talking about fancy expensive stuff but a little something you know? Now, i can . It feels so good. First thing though, Bianca i'm going to pay to get Bianca fixed so thats one less worry.

Congrats again Tasha! I'm SO happy for you! Its unbelievable how much stress getting a job can take off. I know they will love you and my fingers are crossed that they keep you. They'd be insane not to! Good luck with everything and please keep us updated on how it goes!

If anyone was in the affected areas of Hurricane Sandy, I hope everyone is alright and safe. I've bee kind of depressed about Sandy all day today. My house didnt suffer damage, some close calls with trees that fell but everything is intact and okay. My family by the beach got hit hard. Lost their cars, house have severe flood damage. The news is filled with the damage done, whole houses gone, whole blocks burned in fires. So much damage i feel so bad. But things can be replaced, people cannot. Hoping everyone is safe and sound!

Tasha - I'm so glad you got a job. Also glad to hear you weren't hit hard by Sandy.

Wilda - hope everything's going well with your pregnancy.

Finished with uni last week for the year. Got a job to keep me busy til Christmas. 2013 is ???

Hey everyone! I finished working my first week of work. I'm part time but my schedule is wack.. retail... hours all over the place. It's not too bad so far but I'm so nervous cause "Black Friday" i'm scheduled to work and supposedly its just swarms of people nonstop all day. I'm not trained enough for that yet. I was off Monday and today. I work tomorrow. Then off for Thanksgiving. And then friday ( Black Friday)i work. Ugh. Atleast I'm gaining experience and already i know when this temp job is over I want to try SO hard for a better job. I can't see myself working retail longer than that. I have a great boss and co-workers and all that , but it's so not for me. I'm thankful for the job, and trying my best and will give it all i got. But, working only 20-25 hours a week at 9 bucks a hour? It's no type of money when a chuck of it will go directly to commuting/and paying my mother rent. Definitely this experience is putting things into perspective.

Tasha: $9 an hour? That doesn't seem fair at all! I don't blame you for wanting to find something better (and with a more structured work schedule) later. But at least you're getting something now, even if most of it is already going to other things. The wacky hours was the one downside I had about working retail this year. Even if I knew the general pattern of hours, you had to wait for the end of the week to find out what day you'd be working the next few weeks and it'd drive me crazy. And to top it all off, I was the first one they called if someone had to pull out for the day - so you'd think you had a free day ahead of you and suddenly you had a chunk ripped away.

What's happening in my life? Not much different from what I was doing before. Still looking for work, still interning. I have been told the internship is mine for as long as I want it though. They're not going to kick me out of it any time soon and yesterday one of the bosses said if she could afford to pay me, she would. That she feels heaps guilty that I'm working harder than they imagined I would and she can't give me anything for it. It's a confidence boost, knowing I'm doing everything they want me to, even if I can't get paid for it. And it's all the experience that I need.

Nothing much happening in my side of the world. Same as before: reading, interning, looking for work...only know it's moving into summer and everything's getting hotter. Oh and Christmas - crazy. I hate christmas shopping, it's always so busy and insane. At least I've got all my christmas shopping done already

wow it' s been a long time since I've been on here! Glad to see a lot of old friends and originals still on here. secret magic, wilds, L dragomir etc. Just wanted to say hi and check things out. getting excited for production. made me reminisce the days I spent in here with you all. plotting scheming predicting reading too far in between the lines haha. My life has been crazy this past year and a half I have a new baby girl about to turn 1. finished writing the 5th book in a series. need to work on final editing before taking the plunge and submitting. but I must get my laptop fixed because I've been putting that off for a few months now. thats the jist I suppose.

Hi Jill! Glad to see you back on the boards! Congrats on having a new baby girl - you must be so happy! I hope all the editing goes well.

I have no idea how I feel about the VA production. I'm pretty nervous. I say this for most book-to-movie productions, how I don't want them to be ruined through film, but it's even more true for VA. I can't stand the thought of my favourite vampire series being turned into something less than perfect. I'm scared.

Been working quite a bit since uni finished. Some paid work n some voluntary office admin sort of stuff.
Don't have 2013 planned. That's freaking me out.

I'm not taking the movie news too seriously. Richelle hasn't blogged about it yet.
Its moving along but it doesn't look as though it's been green lit by a studio.

Chloe!!!! I miss you!!! The job is going well. Worked like crazy and finally the season is over. But they are keeping me as a permanent employee but I only get 10 hours a week until the summer when sales pick back up. So that's a bummer, I have to find another job to supplement income. But, everything is well. How are you????

Oh did i tell ya'll... i FINALLY read The Golden Lilly

Oh and I'm still working, but just barely. They kept me after the holidays but things are real slow ( retail slow season) so i only get 10 hours a week . Usually i work 5-10 saturday and sunday. It's not alot of hours yet it feels like so much more. I don't get to do much before work because i have to wake up and clean and take care of my dog. Then shower and get all dressed up and do my hair ( ugh, i'm so not a girly girl lol). And then iget to work an hour or so early so I don't feel rushed and in the off chance they need me to work early ...but usually i just read before my shift. But since i work nights it takes forever to get home via public transportation so when iget home i'm so tired i go straight to sleep. I"m looking for another job but no luck so far.

Hi Tasha! I was certain I replied to you before, but obviously I didn't.

Ugh, I'm sorry it's been such a travel hassle to get to work. I hate that. You have to take more time than necessary to get places. This is probably why I should try driving more, but I don't Buy hey! At least they've kept you on longer, which means they like you, you're a hard working AND you're still getting paid! I hope the search for a new job is going alright. Hang in there something will pop up.

I stumbled on a part-time job 2 weeks ago - it's not publishing, but it's better than sitting on my arse all week doing nothing else. It's at a local plumbing company - I'm the receptionist/office manager. My big sis used to work for them, and the girl she got to replace her wants out now, so I'm taking over. Had my first full week this week (sort of...since Monday was a public holiday) and I'm just super tired Glad it's the weekend now.

VA movie news. This isn't up on the fb page anymore but i managed to save it before it got deleted. So here's he news.

"Los Angeles, February 1: Director Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Spiderwick Chronicles) will direct BLOOD SISTERS, the first feature film installment of the highly successful VAMPIRE ACADEMY series of young adult books for financiers Reliance Entertainment and IM Global, it was announced today by the film's producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford of Angry Films (Transformers, Real Steel), Michael Preger, and Deepak Nayar of Kintop Pictures (Walking With Dinosaurs, Bend It Like Beckham). IM Global CEO Stuart Ford will executive produce.

BLOOD SISTERS, based on the first book in author Richelle Mead’s hugely successful series of books, was written by the director's brother, Dan Waters (Batman Returns, Heathers) and will start production in early summer.

The books were initially optioned by Mike Preger of Preger Entertainment who brought the property to Don Murphy and Susan Montford of Angry Films and together they brought it to Deepak Nayar of Kintop Pictures.

After an extensive search for fresh talent the producers also announced that Zoey Deutch (Beautiful Creatures)and Australian newcomer Lucy Fry will play the series' lead characters Rose and Lissa alongside Russian superstar Danila Kozlovski (We Are from the Future) who will play the role of Dimitri in this contemporary and irreverent fantasy adventure.

The VAMPIRE ACADEMY book series is a worldwide phenomenon, with over 8 million copies in print across 35 countries. To date there are six books in the series, with the last four (Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound, Last Sacrifice) on the New York Times Best Sellers list as the audience for the VAMPIRE ACADEMY series continues to grow.

In BLOOD SISTERS ROSE Hathaway develops a mental and spiritual bond with her BVFF (best vampire friend forever) Princess Lissa.
