What's everyone up to?

lmao Too late. I dropped it. Like a second ago. On the plus side I only have to pay $300 for rent next month (it automatically refunded me for the class and charged me for my due charges). On the negative side... I still have to figure out whether I'll be taking a science class.

I guess it's not quite as bad since you still have the intention to buy it. Though there are still 4 free chapters that have legitimately been uploaded online that you could read to tide you over if you feel bad. lol

LOL! Well you didn't like the class anyway, so it works out better this way. I'm glad you got refunded for the class too, that's a pretty cool bonus.

I'd only really feel bad if I wasn't planning on buying the book itself. But I do plan to buy it so no problems. And if I get the book before I finish the pdf version I'm dropping the pdf and picking up the book.

Yeah I REALLY wanted out of that class. Ugh. It was stressing me out even though it's supposed to be just a bullsh*t class. At least my Mondays won't be as crazy. And I'm actually thinking I won't add anymore classes... if I feel differently during the weekend I still have time to change that. I mean, I'd like to be a full time student but it's been forever since I've even been in school so just taking a few might be enough for right now. I could always take more classes next semester.

Argh I'm so annoyed right now because when I got home today I kept finding these mother effing flies in my apartment. I don't even know how they got in here. For real, I'm on the 4th floor and I'm nowhere near an exit. HOW ARE THEY GETTING IN HERE?

You're still doing 3 classes, right? That's a pretty heavy load anyway. And like you said, there's still time to change your mind in the next few days.

Ugh, insects...they're the worst. There's no way of telling how they get in. We've got a constant stream of crickets in our house. We're not sure where they're coming from either...but one minute they're not there and the next they are. Mum keeps catching them and letting them outside, because they're harmless enough, but they just keep popping up! It's ridiculous.

Okay, it's official. I am the biggest failure in existence. I was so annoyed by the damn flies that I gave in and read the last line. *headdesk*

But anyway. It didn't make me crazy for The Golden Lily, but maybe it's just because I'm not insanely crazy over VA at the moment. I might regret having done it later though if it turns out the last half of the book is utterly amazing.

Yeah I'm really feeling like 3 classes might be it for me. I've never really taken more than 3 at a time anyway. I'm pretty sure that math course will keep me busy, and I know I've got research papers to write for English. Funnily enough, the psych course I'm taking to satisfy my "writing in the disciplines" requirement requires no writing whatsoever. We'll be taking tests instead of doing a term paper.

LOL! I guess that's one good thing about an ebook, I can't accidentally flip to the back and read the last line.

Tests, not bad. I hate tests though, I'd much rather essays because then I get to do them at home.

I don't mind taking tests. I prefer them over essays/research papers. They're mostly multiple choice anyway and if you're good at deducing answers based on what something is NOT then you can usually come up with the right answers. That was how I survived my college algebra class... especially on that section about logarithms. I would've totally failed that test if it hadn't been multiple choice.

Ash- maybe a English lit class would be good. You get to read books and write about them.
Are your other 3 classes intensive?
I did a psych paper last year. It was really interesting but full on.

Will drop by CBD book stores again tomorrow after class to look for BL. I finish at midday anyway.
I expected to get BL on release day. Got the last 3 VA books on release day.
The Penguin NZ page still says 23rd. Going to read chap 2-4 online now since I haven't yet.

My copy of bloodlines should arrive tomorrow. So i'm super excited about that.

Things are real crazy in my world between my dad and the hubby. I'm so worried and stressed all the time, i sleep like the dead now. And also all this hurricane business... not good. I"m not in a zone that might have to evacuate...but my aunt is. So they might have to bunk with us if things get bad. But we wont know until things get closer to the date and the hurricane gets closer to NY. But it's extra stuff we have to prepare for. I went to the dollar store and bought a pack of batteries, a flash light and two gallons of water for the hubby and I. I told my mother she needs to do the same ( i dont have an income I cant afford to buy everything for the whole household) . But now since we might have a full house, she really needs too. I"m going to the supermarket tomorrow to buy simple things for the house like bread, cheese, and cold cuts ( sandwich meats) . There is a bunch of stuff i need to do and get.

I got a phone call now so I cant do two things at once so i'll post again later. lol.

Went to the bookstores in the CBD after class and no BL.
Decided to check out the department store 10 mins walk away from my house and they had BL. The online company I pre ordered from let me cancel it.
I should've checked out the dept store on Wednesday.
At least getting BL late meant I could focus on my uni work this week.
Back to reading now.

Libby, glad you focused on your school work. I remember when Last Scarfice came out, I barely payed attention in my classes ...lol. I actually was reading on my break and ended up being late to class cause i wanted to finish a chapter ...lol.

I'm getting ready to go out and get hurricane survival stuff :-( ....My neighborhood isn't in the red zones but they anticipate the crazy winds, downed trees which may cause power outages. But i'm scared a tree will fall on my old house. It's also possible the streets will be flooded. We shouldn't get flood damage or anything to the house. The city is going to shut down public transportation this weekend. My aunt lives in a red zone, she lives in Far Rockaway right by the water, so they are the possible evacuation neighborhoods so i also have to get extra supplies in case they have to bunker here. I'm just waiting for BloodLines , it's supposed to come in the mail today...that's all i need to survive the hurricane.. hell i probably wont even notice there is a hurricane imma be so absorbed in the book ....lol

So if i'm not on this weekend, it means we had power outages.

I hope everyone in the affected path of the hurricane is alright! be safe everyone.

Sorry for the double post

So its official. This hurricane business is in effect. It went to possible to is definitely happening on the news. Alot of places have to evacuate by the afternoon tomorrow. My aunt ( uncle and 4 cousins and 3 dogs ) all have to come bunker up in my house because they live in a red zone. It's all so crazy.

It's also official I received Bloodlines in the mail today. So that's all i need to survive this hurricane.

Yeah the hurricane business is pretty freaky. My mom and sister are up in New England (Maine). And my brother is driving up to New Hampshire for school today... I don't think Irene has even made landfall yet.

Tasha: I hope you're ok with all the hurricane stuff. It's scary, keep us updated on how you're holding out. and YAY for having Bloodlines.

Ash: I hope your brother is ok.

Kim: Well I texted him a moment ago and he's in Arkansas. Pretty far away from all the hurricane business. But knowing him he'll be driving all night. I have no idea when he'll make it to New England. I'm more concerned about my mom and my sister since they're already up there. It'll be a tropical storm by the time it hits them, but there could be a lot of damaging wind and flooding/rain.

Oh crap, I forgot your Mum and sister had left already. How are they doing? That's one way to be welcomed to the region.

They're okay since they won't be getting any weather for a couple days I don't think. I had to look up what exactly was doing with Irene because I haven't been paying much attention, but then got all freaked out when I saw it was pretty much going to hit all of New England. Though that area won't have it nearly as bad as the Carolinas since that's where it's making landfall. Though I'm wondering how my sister's first week of school will go what with the tropical storm and all. But she's moved into her dorm and roomed with a friend she met during the summer ballet intensive. I'm sure my mom will hang around Maine with her for a little while.

I'm glad she's got a friend already. Makes starting school a whole lot better.

*gasp* Penguin Australia just announced/confirmed The Golden Lily won't be out until June 19 next year. Originally I think it was supposed to be May, but I guess with Richelle having her baby she might need a little more time to sort all the edits out. I know she said she'd handed in something the other day, but I don't think it was the final copy.

She made quite a few friends actually, but not all of them were returning for the school year. But still, it's cool that she met so many people and even cooler that she got to pick her roommate.

Yeah I saw that. Ugh. But I guess this is better because it's releasing during the summer, meaning I won't have to worry about school. lol And I think she only submitted the rough draft. So, yeah, The Golden Lily isn't anywhere close to done yet.

Hey everyone! Hope everyone in the hurricane path is staying safe. The news said Hurricane Irene dropped from a category 3 hurricane to a category 1...and they are hopeful when it landfalls in NY it will be a tropical storm. They are advising us to tape up windows, they expect wind damage and floods. But, everything is alright so far, except I havent had time to crack open Bloodlines and start reading yet :pouts: lol

I hope everyone's staying safe with Irene hanging around.

Anyway, I fell asleep again this morning. But then I had this weird dream... It was really sorta freaky. I don't really remember much except that I was being hunted by this creature that looked like a lean man with no skin... like you could see all of his pink muscles underneath. If anyone's seen Pan's Labyrinth, it looked a little like the Pale Man, except it didn't have eyes in its hands. And there was a bunch of gore in my dream. Normally I don't have a problem with bloody massacre type stuff, but I guess it was bothering me because whenever something gory would come up I'd get either a pop up warning label for graphic violence/gore or would conveniently look away.

This reminds me of that dream I had the other night... there was a school shooting... And then it really sucked because the shooter was going to kill one of the girls by me, but then the b*tch cried and said to shoot me instead. Yeah. I was real happy about that.

Ash: With the waiting for books thing...well, we'll survive, no matter how long the wait actually is. There's plenty of other books to read.

I'm heading into the city today to hang out with some girls from the Penguin VA forum. One has her birthday tomorrow, but she has to work today, so we're visiting her at her shop and having a picnic I hope the sun comes out though, because I have a few buses to catch and I really don't want it to rain.
