| I also think that too many people are stuck on the fact that he should be Dimka. I think they should pick a nobody actor that nobody's ever heard of. I think Ben Barnes is a bit too girly for the role. | |

| To be honest, i had no idea who Ben Barnes was, and not many people I know know him either, well... none no who he is, so to me he really was a nobody, i didnt even remember him in the chronicals of narnia, and i certainly hadn't heard of dorian gray. I saw a picture of him on the VA movie website and thought he was cute so i started to search pictures and movies he was in then i watched dorian gray and i was like WOAH! he is so dimika! Then i made a fansite on facebook called BenBarnes LoVe and asked people to add me to support him for the role, now i have 600 friends/fans on the fansite. People adore him. | |

Oh, he can be far from girly when that's what he needs to be.

Oh, he can be far from girly when that's what he needs to be. Oh yes, he has a few really nasty moments in Dorian Gray. He is very far from the girly type there, playing a cold, cynical murderer. Also, he has a few moments in Caspian where he shows a lot of temper But I have to agree with whoever said that he will need to bulk up a little, add some muscles.

| I'm for Ben Barnes as Dimitri, he just has that look. Plus, I think he's a pretty good actor, though I haven't seen Dorian Grey I will have to look into it. On the subject of this topic, I'm beginning to think that maybe the cover of the LS might have some kind of meaning to it. Rose is alone. Maybe something happens to Dimitri or Adrian, or maybe something happens to both. I believe Dimitri lied with what he said after he protected Rose, but I'm not sure if he will let down his wall he's put up against Rose and let her in again. This might be his final decision, but only Richelle knows at the moment. | |

See, when I said nobody, I meant someone that hadn't been in anything before, except maybe a couple of commercials or something. Like Emma Watson. She'd never been in anything before Harry Potter, and went to auditions, and wound up getting picked. I didn't just mean someone who not many people know about. And although the people you know may not know who BEn Barnes is, it seems like all of the VA fans know who he is, and either totally want him to play Dimka, or totally don't. Everyone that I know knows who he is

| Or the cover could indicate that this is truly Rose's story in this last book. SHE has to prove she's not guilty, SHE has to go searching for the truth about Lissa's half sibling. It's not her love for any of the guys in her life that is dictating her actions in this last book, it's about how she manages to clear herself and how she can help Lissa. That's just my theory.
And I definitely hope that RM will put in that happy ending for D and R that we are all just longing for - and no killing off of Adrian.

| I can understand people's hesitations with the books become movies, especially after Twilight's success, but I really am excited about VA being turned into a movie. I think what we need to do is try to see the movie(s) and the books as two separate entities. It's not possible for a film adaptation to be 100% true to the book(s), regardless of whether that is the goal or not. I'm sure for most of us the movie will never be as good as the books, but it's stll possible for us to like both. | |

I absolutely agree. THey would really have to mess things up completely if the movie is to become a complete failure. Of course many people will never be satisfied with the choice of actors or with the bits and parts left out or altered from the books. But it is important to remember that they will be two different products, just like the Twilight and Harry Potter books and films are. Personally I think that if they make it into a film, the risk of it being too altered is smaller. The risk is always greater that there will be significant changes when they turn books into a series. Just look at the Sookie Stackhouse books or the Vampire Diaries books. The latter have almost nothing in common with the series.

I also think that Richelle has given then enough great material for the films to be great too. I think one of the biggest reasons that the Twilight films haven't been that great is because none of the books had very much action. It focused too much on the love story between the main characters which was not what movie goers expected. When it comes to vampires, people want to see action and suspense. Vampire Academy can provide that since all the books are jam packed with action.

So true. The Twilight books are mainly about Ed and Bella and their inner lives; we get to read a lot about their reactions to one another, how they feel and think. There's not much action going on, well, some things begin to happen in the third book and then we have all the action saved up for the final book. With Vampire Academy we have action going on all the time. There are several plot lines running alongside each other and there is an equal amount of focus on Rose-Lissa, Rose-Dimitri and also Lissa-Christian and then later on Rose-Adrian. Rose is in and out of trouble all the time and things just happen around her. It will certainly be an action packed movie!

| I'll be okay with a VA movie IF 1) they cast good and talented actors not ones that are "popular" 2) don't change the story too too much 3) cast Ben Barnes as Dimitri 4) don't make it into the "next twilight" 5) no screaming fangirls at the movie... One or two screams for Dimitri is okay though | |

Absolutely! The books have got it all. It's just there for the moviemakers to grab hold of, surely it must be a dream for any serious producer/director to get to work on the great material that Richelle has given us all. Since it is also a very different take on the vampire mythology, it would have very little in common with Twilight. I think Richelle has done a much better job in creating (or adapting and developing) her world of vampires.

| I agree. Her use of folklore is spot on and changes the idea of vampires in believable way. | |

| Yeah, there's much to be said about the VA series. I'm in the category of "half and half" when it comes to the movie (if they make it). I want to see the action and how others view VA, but at the same time, I like my imagination better. And when it comes to reading the books first, I always compare the movie to the books and how the characters looked and acted in my imagination. This is gonna be a toughy. *grimaces* | |

| There certainly is! I have to say that I'm also fifty-fifty when it comes to turning it into a film. It could be such a success, but it could also become a complete fiasco. If they do make the movie, I won't watch it if it's the latter case... I guess I'll just rely on what other fans of the books say about it before I decide on what to do. | |
