| I was just wondering if anyone plays a musical instrument. It can be for school band or a rock band or maybe you play the bagpipes to show your Scottish heritage! | |

| Lol i think i'm musically impaired. I tried to play instruments...but I can't carry a beat. I even suck at rock band. But I love music! I listen to all kinds but rock is my favorite. I sing my lil ol heart out ,horribly i might add , in the shower all the time lol.
My boyfriend is musician. He plays guitar mostly. Used write his own songs too. He hasn't played for over a year, maybe two but I'm trying to convince him to pick it up again. I think he's starting to miss it . We always wander back to our passions so I'm not too worried for him. But, i know i miss him playing- it's how he woo-ed me.. play Nirvana's "Come are you are" on guitar lol. He does play rock band quite a lot and only on expert lol.

| I play piano, and back in the school band I played trumpet. I've taken piano lessons off and on since I was a kid, and at the moment it's on again. Right now I want to learn some classical pieces since I mostly play movie/game/anime songs, so I think it's time to change it up a bit. I really really want to learn some Chopin pieces, especially the nocturne that was on an episode of Bones this season (if anyone watches that show, the episode was The Plain in the Prodigy with the Amish piano player). The other Chopin nocturne I'd like to learn is this one I first heard in a very bad After Dark Horrorfest film. Seriously, the movie was terrible. It's so lame to admit, but I can play the Twilight lullaby also. I hate Twilight but I like the song okay!! I just appreciate music is all. And it's not like it's very difficult or anything. Final Fantasy music is harder. Here's some links of the pros playing: Nocturne Op. 9 No. 1 in B flat minor (the one from Bones) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb4VY8gYZt4Nocturne Op. 72 No. 1 in E minor (the one from the Gravedancers movie which was very terrible) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJpAIOFN5WQOne day I will learn how to play the oboe. It's the most kickass instrument ever created. | |

and which After Dark Horrorfest film? I seen a bunch, but not all. I don't think I completely suck at playing piano, but I'm definitely not awesome. Oh well. I still like to. And yeah it's a shame. I tried to hate the Twi lullaby, I really did. The movie was The Gravedancers. It was very very terrible. Well... okay so the beginning was a bit freaky, but it seriously went from a good scary movie to utter crap. The parts with Chopin's nocturne were good freaky parts in the movie. And afterwards, my brother (who is a better player than me) went and looked for the song and found that we already have the sheet music. - Tonystark616 wrote:

I'm pretty awesome at Guitar Hero/Rock Band, but I don't know how to play a real guitar. Sorry.

| I can play the alto and tenor saxophone, but I haven't played in quite a few years. (although I'm certain I could pick it up again pretty easily if I ever had the cash to buy my own sax.) | |

| I used to play trumpet but now I play horn (French horn although the design is German so it isn't technically proper to call it French) I agree that Oboe is a pretty awesome instrument. If I learn another instrument, I'd really like to learn Oboe and I probably should learn some piano. Classical music is pretty awesome. The only problem with classical is how many of them sound the same or similar especially with the whole note trill ended with 2 32nd gracenotes into a quarter note ( I hope someone understands what I mean) | |

| It sure does, i think i know that song from a class i took about classical music.. but i failed that class. one of the only classes i ever failed. The professor would play a song and we would have to name the instruments and the stuff they are playing and for how long and it was really hard- i fetl tone deaf at times lol. | |

| I'm really into music but it doesn't always help me. My one friend rolls his eyes at me a lot because I have to ask which time period and style certain composers are. | |

| I suck at theory and know of only a few classical musicians. I didn't even know Chopin wasn't considered "classical" until yesterday. But eh, at least people know what I'm talking about. lol However, I'm pretty good at distinguishing between sounds of instruments, so I could name them if I had to. I think it comes from taking years and years of band in school (grades 5-11). Yeah I was a band geek. But it was a small school and everyone was in band, so everybody was a band geek. RozaMariaRita - I actually understood what you meant about the grace notes!! lol The French horn is awesome. I love brass instruments, especially trumpet. You know what's really cool about video games nowadays is that they have really awesome music!! Like for example, Metal Gear Solid 4. It's like they take it much more seriously these days. So instead of the 8-bit music of the 80s and 90s, games have real instrumental music!! Here's the Metal Gear Saga (I love the trumpet solo towards the end). Also here's something kind of funny. The main theme from the game Haze is sort of The Rock (Hans Zimmer) meets LOTR (Howard Shore). Anyone else get that or is it just me? | |

| I love brass instruments because they have the ability to play powerfully whereas woodwinds usually don't get parts meant for power.
dimkaluv, I see where you are coming from with that. All of the songs have a certain intensity but the Haze one seems to combine the calm-ish intensity of The Rock and the power from the Lord of The Rings.

| yeah, I know, but I love the sounds woodwind instruments play and even if they don't get as powerful parts they're still cooler (I may be bias) | |

| I like woodwinds but I just love hearing the power of brass. I've always been a brass girl though. When I was in kindergarten, I was fascinated by trumpet so when I was able to join band I HAD to play it. Then 3 years later my band director had me play horn and I fell in love (I know, it's silly to say I'm in love with something that isn't living) Anyways, both are essential in my opinion. | |

| when I was in Kindy I always wanted to play the trumpet too...but when it came to joining the band I couldn't make a sound at all. It was hopeless. But I could make the saxophone work, and I loved that one instead. | |
