Its hard not to love him. Hes really genuine in contrast to many of the other royals.

I loved him since he first came out in FB and I thought he was very cute when he was annoying the living hell out of Rose , on the plane in SK

(I've read all three books, so beware, there are some serious SPOILERS )

I don't really like Dimitri. That's not a good start, huh? He is fantastic as a guy, stable, brave, and madly in love with Rose, but.. There's no dynamics in him, he is boring as a character. Adrian, on the other hand, is much more complicated and layered. Almost everyone perceives him as a womanizer, an addict, and... someone irresponsible, generally. However, it turns out that he is one of the most sensitive ones. Adrian (and Dimitri, but that's a different story) is the only person who knows Rose, who can truly see through her (even her best friend didn't know what was going on). In spite of his feelings towards her, he doesn't really try to seduce Rose, he knows she is lost for him (when Dimitri is around). I think that is the reason why I adore him. The understanding, which distinguishes him from the rest of the characters.
Ok, that was stating the obvious.
I hope that Rose will end up with Adrian. Dimitri is a good match for her, one who understands her, who helps her to 'embrace' her good side. They complement each other, Dimitri who is patient and careful and Rose, who acts upon an impulse. However, they being together would be fairy tale-ish or one would say - Twilight-ish. Simply unrealistic. In the foundations of Rose and Dimitri lays their commitment to the Moroi. The purpose of their lives (and imho the thing that Dimitri values the most, the fact that he has a goal). Without it, they would be different people. If they ended up together, they would have to give up everything they loved and lived for. I understand that love changes people, but such things don't happen in real life. Yep, in fairy tales. If Dimitri was resurrected as a Moroi.. That would be worse than vampire Bella with a kid. Bella with her husband to guard, a guy with whom she is able to reproduce, a couple of fighters etc. Blah.
Besides, Dimitri is Rose's god. They are not equal in this relationship. Despite the fact that Rose went through a lot, Dimitri still perceives her outbursts as childish. Rose is only 18 and with Dimitri she has to grow up quickly. I know that the world in which she lives would eventually force her to do that, but she needs a support in it. Someone able to lead her to it. Someone, who doesn't (even unconsciously) want her to dive in deep waters.
(It's like with Buffy and Angel. As we know, they did not end up together - Buffy realized she was still a 'cookie')
Adrian, on the other, is just perfect for her. He is sensitive, understanding, balancing on the edge of the politics. As queen's nephew, he is in the center of all events. However, as a spirit user, he is trying to avoid being involved. He is able to make her feel safe (with the ability to grow up, 'cause he is apolitical) without taking away the real world (after all she went through, she still needs a link to it). Don't you all get the feeling that the whole life Rose had no safe spot to stay and feel comfortable? With Dimitri, she would be fighting, fighting, and fighting. Even their house would be a remainder of everything which is happening outside. With Adrian, she could fight (as his guardian) and have home. Home she didn't have, because of her mother's choice. Home she wants to have (her conversations with Janine clearly show that I'm right).
Adrian/Rose would not be fairy tale-ish. She would get all she needs.. expect of her first love. However, that's what first love is - something passionate, and... ephemeral.
Also, I can't really see them dating... right now. It could be something happening after few years. Rose needs someone able to comfort her, like a friend.

I hope that, eventually, they will be together. I see no point in creating the oath from Shadow Kiss just to ignore it in the future books. Of course, there might be something like Dimitri-living-alone-just-to-avoid-being-tempted-by-the-human-blood and Rose-trying-to-move-on-but-failing, but it would not make sense in the bigger picture (Rose left school just to say hi to Dimitri?!). But, well, there are only two months left I guess I have to be patient.

You made some good points, especially that of Rose and Dimitri not being equals. But I'm a sucker for Rose and Dimitri.

It's for EXACTLY these reasons that I love Dimitri. I like stable, brave guys. And he obviously loves Rose. They complete each other. She's the yin to his yang. She's impulsive and a bit wild, and he's stoic and well, like you said, stable. They need each other. They bring out the best in each other.

And i think deep down somewhere within Dimitri he's a wild boy =d

I love Adrian. I'm still not sure whether I want him with Rose or not. I love the idea of Rose and Dimitri, but right now it doesn't seem possible.
Karolina's right. If Dimitri and Rose end up together it's going to be the perfect fairy-tale ending. That's not to say I don't really want them to be together, just that I don't think it's possible. (I may be proved wrong eventually and I'll willing to deal with that) but I don't think they can be.

Rose and Adrian on the other hand can still occur (provided Rose survives finding and/or killing Dimitri.) And I think if/when she does return Adrian is the only person who will understand why she did it and have the patience to put up with her grieving. He's so observant that he picked up on the little things that Rose was hiding from everyone else: jealously of Christian, love for Dimitri etc. If anyone will know how to protect Rose after the ordeal she's putting herself through it'll be him.
Yes I think he went about wooing her in the wrong way, using his money and charm to win Rose over, but essentially I think he showed her that he's capable of loving her entirely, especially when he knows her heart wasn't for him at the start.

I'm re-reading Shadow Kiss and found something else I love about Adrian. When I reached the part where Christian wants to fight Adrian over Lissa; I noticed that Adrian, while obviously still being Royal, doesn't hold that same air of arogance the rest of them seem to do. Yes he has designer clothes and probably uses his royalty to get him places in the world. But any other royal would have stuck his nose up at Christian and called him a Strigoi-to-be. Adrian on the other hand doesn't back down nor does he claim to be something he's not. It's one of the reasons I truly believe he loves Rose.

I want to start an Adrian fan club, possibly on freewebs. If anyone is interested, let me know! I'm going to call it "Adrian's Dreamgirls" because we love him, and that awesome dreamwalker ability! And although Dimitri is a fine man, I want to pay homage to my favorite character, and I wish my future husband, Adrian Ivashkov

I'd gladly join your fan club. While re-reading the series Adrian has become my favourite male character, but he's only a few points behind being Rose.

I think Rose is my least fave.....she can be a real bitch when she wants to....

I'm extremely torn here though. I want Rose and Dimitri to be togetherm but I don't like that for that outcome to be true it means Adrian ends up lonely. I hate thinking that he's there caring so deeply for Rose while she can't love him back.
Adrian should really come and find someone from here, we'd totally love him back.

maybe......I don't know if you read somewhere on RM's website about her bringing a new character . Her name is Sydney.....me she could be the one for Adrian .....

Maybe, I guess we'll just have to wait and find out. I don't want to make any speculations without finding out who Sydney really is (and personally I don't like the name all that much at the moment because I can only think of it at a City name...that's what happens when you live in a country with a city of the same name.)
