| This has nothing to do with vampire academy, I kinda just thought it up one day. if you're interested, I'll post more. For now, here's the first chapter: 1. Betrayal I was in a place I had never been before. Oddly, it felt like I had been here before, like I was used to this place. It was beautiful, definitely memorable. The sky was a deep blue, and everything else was green -the trees, the ground, the moss, everything. It was a perfect little area, lit only by the stars. Wondering why I was there, I got a better look at the meadow. The air was warm. I also noticed someone watching me from behind the trees. Great. My heart started racing. The person emerged from the forest of darkness, allowing me to see that it was a man. He was quite young, close to my age, maybe 18. He crept closer, slowly. I felt my body freeze. If I had any choice of out-running him, it was gone now. I watched him walk closer, his eyes glued on me. He walked slowly, nervously, as if he was trying not to scare me. By now, he was but 20 feet in front of me. It took me until then to realize that he was beautiful. When I first saw him, he was nothing but a blur, a random boy. Now he was an angelic sculpture. Something too perfect to be called human. I saw his eyes first. They were deep pools of wondrous blue, staring into my soul, it seemed. I worked my eyes farther down his face. It was tan with olive undertones, and looked great with his smooth, dark hair. He was incredibly close now. Close enough for me to touch him, which I so wanted to do. I should have run, should have screamed or something, but I was frozen. I tried my hardest to move, but my legs would not budge. It was like something was forcing me to stay there. Not wanting me to leave, no matter how scared I was. He placed his hand on my shoulder. It was warm, warmer than it should have been, considering it was cold that night. He must have seen the scared look in my eyes, because he dropped his hand to his side. “There’s no reason to be afraid, my dear,” he whispered calmly. I knew his voice from somewhere. It was so familiar. I looked in to his eyes, “W-who are you? “ I managed to say. “You don’t remember me, dear? Why, I just spoke with you this morning.” It didn’t make sense. If I spoke with him this morning, why did he hide in the woods? Why didn’t he say his name? All I could do was breathe. And I was having a hard time doing that. He looked at me in disbelief. What was I supposed to do? A guy I didn’t know, well I think I didn’t know came up to me. I was dazed, confused. I shook my head. Something was not right. He quickly raised his arms and wrapped them around my neck, careful not to touch my bare skin. “Well, do you remember this?” He spoke soft sweet words, whispering them into my ear, chills running down my spine. He leaned his face towards mine, and kissed my lips softly. It was all so familiar. I had definitely seen this guy before, and kissed him too. Millions of thought rushed around my head. For one thing, this guy was gorgeous. Like, heart stopping gorgeous. Another thing was that I had some strange connection towards him. Then, my eyes closed. I had no control, it just happened, but it felt right. One part of me thought I was kissing a stranger, another part though that I was kissing the love of my life. His warm breath mixed with mine, causing me to get dizzy a little. He pulled me closer to him, strengthening the kiss. It was al so exhilarating, I kissed him back, and everything was so peaceful and romantic. Until the loud screeching noise came. I opened my eyes to the bright light of the morning sun. I scowled under my breath. The whole thing was a dream. Ugh. I knew it was too good to be true, but it felt so real. It wasn’t like any other dream I had ever had before. I shut my alarm clock off so that I wouldn’t wake my mom up. Okay, it might have been going off for maybe 2 minutes, but still At least I was trying to be nice. I got up and walked into the bathroom, not bothering to look in the mirror as I passed, afraid of what monster might be looking back at me. I got into the shower and turned the water on the hottest temperature. Eventually the pain from the scorching water died of into a soothing warmth. The water was lulling me to sleep, and I really wanted to give in to its powerful tricks. Maybe I could finish my wonderful dream and find out more about my nameless stranger. I was just about to sleep when a disturbing image popped into my head. It was me -cold and lifeless, asleep in the shower. My lips blue, my face white. I shook the image away and turned the water off. I put on my favorite outfit. It was a purple shirt with black polka dots scattered across it, a pair of my most comfortable skinny jeans, and a good old pair of chucks. I ran a brush through my tangled, dark brown hair, and finally worked up the courage to look in the mirror. Not surprisingly, I looked like a mess. Not even make-up would help me today. I grabbed my book bag and walked downstairs. The smell of bacon hit me in the face. Who is cooking? Mom should be asleep. I walked around the corner of the stairway and found my mother at the stove. “Hey. What are you doing up?” I asked her, my eyes wide with shock. “I decided to stop being so lazy and be a good mom for once.” she said playfully. I laughed. “Mom, you don’t have to do this. I usually don’t eat breakfast.” I wasn’t trying to be nice either. I rarely ever ate breakfast. “Oh well, it’ll get eaten anyway” she said smiling, but her eyes lost some of the hint of excitement. I felt bad, so I took a piece of the bacon. “Thanks mom!” and I walked outside. The sun was extraordinarily bright. It was hard to see where I was going, squinting the whole time. I grabbed my keys out of my bag and started my car. It took a few tries, but eventually it sputtered and turned on. It was a blue ‘69 Mustang and I loved it. School went by quickly. There wasn’t much fro me to do when my best friend moved away, leaving me here to fend for myself. So now, all of classes are boring. I don’t even pay attention in them anymore. I find that when you’re quiet, you don’t get called on as much. When the bell for lunch rang, I grabbed a sandwich from the lunch line and sat down at an empty table. Oddly, I wasn’t hungry. I was tired. Really tired. This mystery dream took a lot of energy out of me. It was really loud in the cafeteria, but somehow I managed to doze off. I woke up to the sound of pages turning. I had a really bad headache, probably from resting my head on the hard tables. Sleeping had blurred my vision, so it was hard for me to see who was making the noise. But eventually, I could. And boy did I see. It was a girl, who was stunningly perfect. And I thought that the guy from my dreams was good-looking. He was plain next to her. Her eyes were a deep brown almost black, and she was deeply concentrated on the book she was reading. Her abnormally pale face was flawless, not one bump or crease, and her strawberry blonde hair sat perfect on her shoulders. I was completely absorbed in her beauty. My voice squeaked a loud ‘woah’, and my face blushed deep red. She had to have seen me now. Was that a giggle I heard? I bet that she was used to people gawking at her all day like she was an angel. It seemed like she wanted to talk to me, but couldn’t think of anything to say. Her eyes floated up to look at me and then back down to her book. “Um… are you new here?” I asked quietly. “Yes. You don’t mind if I sit here. Do you? There isn’t anywhere else to sit.” Her voice was like music to my ears. Soft, and melodic. “No. I don’t mind. My name’s Amber by the way.” “Cool. I’m Brooke. It’s nice to meet you, Amber.” I smiled. We got to talking, and I somehow got this strange urge to make friends with her. I was extremely jealous of her, but I needed a new friend anyway, so why not give it a try? “So… I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me this afternoon. If you’re not busy, of course.” She said. “Sure, I would love to.” I said smiling. This is turning out to be a good day. RING! RING! RING! “Well, I’ll see you after school.” I yelled after her, but she was already gone. I hope she heard me. The last two periods of the day seemed to drag along. It seemed like they were torturing me by taking so long. I was totally distracted by my plans with Brooke tonight. I’d even embarrassed myself once or twice but not knowing the answer to a question or blurting out something random. I felt like hiding my face in the desk. When there was 5 minutes left of the last period of the day, I couldn’t help myself. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, staring at the clock. After what felt like an eternity, the bell rang and I busted out of the room fast as lightning. The hallways were starting to fill with crowds of boys and girls. I made my way around them, so I could get to my locker. It opened with a crash and I shoved my books in. I got my favorite watermelon scented perfume and sprayed it lightly on my neck. Who knows? Maybe she has some gorgeous guy friends. I closed my locker, forgetting my book bag walked down the hallway towards the front door of the school. She was waiting there for me along with a gorgeous guy. I instantly felt my jaw drop. He was even better looking than her. His hair was a dark brown, like his eyes. He was quite tall and muscular. I could feel my heart racing and my cheeks blush. I looked awkwardly at my feet. “Amber, this is my bother, Parker.” Brooke said. , with a friendly smile. “Hello.” I said smiling. “Hello, Amber.” He said in a voice that was so unreal, it made my heart want to stop. I smiled again and held out my hand to shake his, instead he place a kiss upon it. A chill ran down my spine. What am I thinking? He’s way out of my league. “I hope you don’t mind, but I invited Parker to come with us. Our father showed us a shortcut the other day, and we wanted to try it out.” Brooke said. “No. I don’t mind.” In fact, I like it better that he came. He smiled and I was momentarily blind. I shook my head, to recover. “Let’s go then,” he said in his heart melting voice. I squealed. They didn’t look back, so I guessed they didn’t hear me. I walked next to Brooke as we passed my car. “Are we taking your car?” I asked. “Actually, we thought that since it was such a nice day, we would walk. If you don’t mind.” Parker said, looking through my eyes and practically into my soul. I think I would’ve said yes to anything he asked at that moment. “Ok. Cool.” We walked down the sidewalk quietly. It wasn’t an awkward silence; it was more of a peaceful one. We reached the shortcut quickly. It wasn’t even a real shortcut; it was more like an alleyway. It didn’t look like it led to anywhere, let alone the gigantic mall. “Hey guys, I’ll be right back. I have to use the restroom.” Brooke said. “Okay. Do you want me to come with you?” I asked politely. “No. I’ll hurry.” Then it got awkward. Brooke left me alone, with her gorgeous, superhuman, brother, Parker. “So, where’d you guys move from?” I asked shyly. “We moved here from France. We were born in Virginia, but my dad likes to travel, so here we are.” “Cool. Well, welcome to bright and sunny Florida.” I said smiling. “Thank you,” he said returning the smile. I lost my sight again. How did he do that? I shook away the blindness to see him leaning against the brick wall. “So, do you like it here?” I asked him, barely looking up from my feet. He looked at me and smiled half a smile. It wasn’t as dazzling as before, but still. “I didn’t before,” He said calmly. “But, now I think I do.” “What made you change your mind?” I asked quietly. “Not what, but who.” he said giggling a little. What is so funny? Is he talking about me? I barely know him! The next thing I knew, he was in front of me, holding my hand. HE brought it to his lips and kissed it. I felt a thrill of excitement. It got cold all of the sudden; another shiver ran down my spine. I stared at him in shock. What could he possibly want with me? My face was a mess, and I wasn’t nearly as pretty as half of the girls in school. Then, he leaned his face in closer to mine. I barely knew this guy and he was going to kiss me. Though I would have loved it, I had too much dignity to let him. “Wait.” I whispered. But it was too late. He wrapped his arms around my waist, and leaned the last few centimeters to my face. He kissed my cheek, slowly moving his lips down my neck and then stopped. “You smell good,” he said. “Thanks.” my breathing was uneven. “It’s water-” “It’s not that. It’s something else. “He said. I let the subject drop. Then he smiled a wicked smile and sunk his teeth into my neck. Read and review please! All comments are wanted. ) I WANT your opinion and criticism. | |

| I may have missed it, but is there a description for Amber. I'm always wondering why she feels she is a mess and avoiding mirrors. Is it just low self esteem?
Also, the lunchroom scene, was a little fast fowarded. It was Broke came out of nowhere and was sitting with Amber- i was like wait when that happened?
It's all really good though!
I'm curious if Parker is the same guy from her dream. If it is, i'm wondering how come Amber doesn't make the connection? Also, Parker's blinding smile- is that metaphorical or literal? Is there something implicitly stated in that or am I just reading between the lines too much?
I have a feeling Broke and Parker are the villains for so reason though. But i think that's just me being pessimistic though
I enjoyed this...post more.

Well not that. He's a vampire. Well that's what i assume anyway. Just the way they acted and lured Amber away into an alley makes me think their the villains.

| haha! I've got you guys interested... I know, chapter one speeds through a little fast. I'll fix that soon. chapter 2! 2. Family I gasped in pain. It was as id a thousand fires were burning in my throat. I tried to scratch at him, and push him away, but he was too strong. It was all so confusing. A million feelings rushed through me at once. Pain, confusion, betrayal, hate. I could feel the tear rolling down my cheeks as he drained the blood from my body. I saw images of my mother from this morning, of Parker kissing my hand. PARKER! I wanted to scream and hit him so hard. What is he doing to me?! It is beyond human to drink the blood from one’s neck. Then, at that moment, I understood. He wasn’t human. He. Was. A. Vampire. I never even thought hat vampires actually existed. I thought that they were old legends and scary stories. But, it all made sense now. The impossible beauty, the grace, the cold skin, and the biggest clue of them all, him drinking my blood. I had heard it all before. I could feel my feet slipping from underneath me. I was never anything to him but a snack. The disgusting little-. I was cut off mid-thought by footsteps. Brooke. I heard her round the corner and could picture her standing there in shock. “Parker!” she screamed, “What have you done?” I tried to tell her to run, but the pain was too much. The words wouldn’t come out. “You were supposed to save some for me!” Brooke yelled. I felt another stab of pain and betrayal. One from her biting my wrist, the other from her being a vampire. I closed my eyes and felt my body dying. I wished for them to stop, for the pain to stop. I went unconscious then. My eyes opened and I struggled to look around me. It was dark, but I could see a little. I was still in the alleyway where I had…I tried to remember the morning. I died, didn’t I? Why could I breathe and blink? I didn’t feel the pain anymore. Just sore muscles from sleeping on gravel. I slowly pulled myself up, using the side of the wall. I glanced down at my wrist. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Instead of being ripped open and bleeding, it was just a smooth crescent that looked like it was almost done healing. So, it did happen. I was bitten by vampires and almost drained completely of my blood. My hand reached up to my neck. Another smooth crescent. I walked around the corner of the alley. No one was outside. It must’ve been about three in the morning. I walked down the street, careful not to be seen by any late night partygoers. There was a noise behind me, like a quick shuffle of fabric. I turned around slowly, afraid of what I would see. There was a man sitting down where I had just been, wearing a trench coat, sunglasses, and a hat. I should have been scared. I should have walked away, but I felt the need to see what he was doing. I tried to cover up as much of my scars as possible and walked over to him. He lifted the hat from his face only to reveal his heart-stopping beauty. “Hello.” he said in a deep, smooth voice. I took a step back. He was another vampire, most likely. He got up quicker than anything I had ever seen before and snapped his fingers. Out of nowhere, two girls appeared. Like everyone, I had seen today, they were gorgeous. One was a honey blonde with glowing, emerald eyes. The other had long, black hair, and brown, almost as dark as her hair, eyes. They were pale in the extreme with, of course, flawless faces. How many vampires are there? I took another step backwards, probably showing fear on my face. The guy took a step forward, raising his hand in surrender. “We mean you no harm,” he said, smiling. “What do you want from me then? “We want you to come with us.” “To where?” “You’ll see when we get there,” he said practically laughing. “Look. I have had a really rough day, and I don’t need anymore trouble.” I said courageously. The girl with the black hair spoke up from behind the man. “We know most of what happened today. We are the ones who saved you. There are things you need to know, which is why you must come with us.” I sighed. “Okay.” We walked around the corner until we came to a car parked on the side of the road. It was a black Mercedes Benz, sure to be worth more than any amount of money I had ever seen before. The male opened the door and the two girls jumped in. I hesitantly climbed into one of the back seats. I looked around, checking for anymore gorgeous vampires. Good thing there wasn’t any; I don’t think I could handle another surprise. “So…” I said, after we were a little while down the road. “Do I at least get to know your names?” “Well. My name is Forest.” The man from the front said. The girl with the honey blonde hair, who seemed like the shyer of the 2 girls, spoke with a quiet, childish voice.” My name is Shine, and this is Heart.” She pointed to the dark haired girl. “Those are really unique names. My name’s Amber.” I said. They nodded and turned back around. It got quiet. It was really confusing. Obviously, they weren’t going to tell me anything until we got to wherever we were going. I’d had an extremely long and horrible day, so why not sleep. I know, I really couldn’t trust them, but could my day really get any worse? I rested my head on the car door and closed my eyes. The vampires didn’t say anything the whole time, so it was quite easy to fall asleep. I woke up with sunlight shining bright on my face through the window and the sound of a car door slamming. I heard a faint tap on the window above my head, and opened my eyes. It was Forest. I leaned my head on the door, yawning. He opened the door, and helped me out. It felt like I had slept for a good 2 minutes, but it must’ve been a few hours, because the sun was up. At least I wasn’t eaten on the way here. I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and looked around. In front of me stood a huge, brick house. It was decorated with millions of different types of flowers. The front porch stood not 10 feet away from me, and my feet itched to walk up the gorgeous set of stairs and walk right in. There were no surrounding houses, just flowers and trees. I’m sure any house would look weak and tiny compared to this one. “Where are we?” I asked, yawning again. “We’re at my house, where you will be staying for then next few days.” “THE NEXT FEW DAYS??!!!!!!. I have to get back to my mom, my school. GOD! I never should have come here.” I paced back and forth “Calm down, my dear. You will understand much better when you meet the rest of my family.” I took a deep breath. “There’s more?” I gasped, defeated. There was no way I was escaping a house filled with vampires. “Yes, there’s more. Now, if you’ll follow me, you can meet the, they’re just inside.” I let out an exasperated sigh. “Fine.” The inside of the giant mansion was just as would be expected, if not more. The foyer opened up the whole house with its bright red walls. Ha. How ironic. Red. The floor was a dark mahogany with not a scuffmark or scratch to be seen. Walking down the giant stairway was a couple joined at the hip. The girl had short, blonde hair, curls flying every which way. She was extremely thin, but not to the point of a walking skeleton. The boy was tall ad muscular with short, black hair. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, the girl walked up, and held out her hand. “Hi! My name is Star. You must be Amber.” She smiled a big smile, waiting for my response. I shook her hand, carefully. I shivered. Vampires=cold. “Hello.” I said quietly. She just stared back at me, her blue eyes filled with curiosity. She pointed to the boy on the stairs. “That’s my boyfriend, Aiden.” he smiled at me from across the room. “Hello.” he said in a deep voice. “Hi” I said shyly. “Well, now that you’ve met Star and Aiden, let’s meet the others. Forest and I walked around the corner, into a greatly decorated room. “Come sit.” he said and walked towards one of the giant couches. I walked over and sat down, fidgeting with my fingers. Sitting in the sofa on the other side of the room was another couple. “This is Alix and Xander. “ Forest said, motioning towards them. “Hello.” They both said in unison. I nodded my head once and smiled there way. “It seems to me, we have a lot of things to discuss.” Xander said, looking at everyone, one by one, stopping on me. “Yes.” I said, desperate to know you tell us your story, and when we’ll explain all that you want to know. “Okay.” I mumbled. “Well, I met this girl at school yesterday, and we went to the mall with her and her brother after school. They said that they had a shortcut, which really turned to be some dark alley. The girl left to go to the bathroom, and I was left alone with her brother.” I felt the tears rushing down my face. “It’s okay. We understand what happened after that.” Xander said, his brown eyes looking apologetic. I wiped as much of the tears away as I could. “How am I alive?” I asked. “Well, I suppose you know what attacked you, and what we are.” “You’re vampires, right? “Yes. Well, some vampires have special powers, like the one who saved your life.” “What do you mean saved me?” I asked my eyes wide. “Forest, Shine, and Heart found you in the alleyway. The one who saved your life was Sapphire. She was around the corner from where you were. When Forest saw you, he called Sapphire. She has a special healing power, which fortunately saved your life. The bad thing is she can only heal you for 24 hours, because of the bad state you were in.” “So what happens in 24 hours?” I asked, shocked. “You return to the state you were in when we found you in, and most likely die. Unless you allow us to change you.” “Wait. You mean you want to change me into a vampire?” I squealed. “If we don’t, you’ll surely die.” He said. “It is your only way of living” “If she even survives the change,” said a boy sitting in the corner of the room, listening to his ipod, who I had not even noticed until now. “Please be quiet, ________. There’s only about a 10 percent chance of not surviving the change. You are going to scare her.” The girl named Alix said in a bittersweet voice. I took a few minutes to think about it. This is a life changing decision you need to make. You’re going to be leaving behind everything. Your life, your mom, school, everything. On the other hand, you get to live. Either way, you’ll be leaving behind your life. You’ll get to make a new one, and it’ll be a better one. You’ll be gorgeous. “Okay. Change me.” “Well, do you have anyone who you want to be the one to change you?” “How exactly do you change someone?” I asked, fear filling my voice. “It isn’t exactly the most peaceful thing, most of the time anyway. A vampire has to bite you, and there venom must enter your bloodstream. It’s extremely painful at first, but then it’s like nothing you’ve ever felt before.” Was that a moan? Really? I sighed, but smiled a little. Pain and then pleasure. That evens it out a bit. “As long as I live.” I said not meeting any o their eyes. And, If Sapphire is here, I want her to change me, she’s the one who saved me after all.” “I’ll go get her.” Forest said and he was gone before I could blink. I sat, biting my fingernails, looking nervously around the room. There were many pictures of random things, like fruits and wildlife. There wasn’t a single photo of a vampire. I wonder why that was. I let my eyes wonder down to look at Alix and Xander. Alix had long, wavy hair that was a shade of red, I had never seen before. She was short, but taller than star by a lot. She sat prim and proper, with her legs crossed, smiling at nothing in particular. I think. Xander had dirty blonde hair, that was medium length and gorgeous, He was a thin man, but still had some muscle. He seemed like the oldest on there, yet he couldn’t have been more than 25. He seemed like he had some control over the other ones, more mature maybe. Before I could turn my attention to the boy in the corner, Forest returned with Sapphire. I took in her beauty instantly. She had short black hair, with blue highlights, that complemented her dazzling blue eyes, her pale skin contrasted the dark clothes she wore, and her lips were a bright red. They turned into a bright smile as she saw me gawking. “So, what do you think?” I said quietly. “I would love to,” she said grinning. read and review! ) | |

| This chapter was much much better really establishing the setting and characters. I heart Sapphire already. I think she will be my fav Vamp. And ha, i knew those two where the villains. I really like the conflicted emotional state Amber was in when she was being bitten by Parker and especially the display of emotions when she realized Brook was part of it. I wanted to see more of that throughout the rest of the chapter but I felt it was kind of down played. Like Amber just unquestioningly went with Forest and co and then took little to no convincing to change. I wanted to see more of that internal debate and even verbal debate like you depicted while she was being attacked because it makes certain parts odd like her sleeping in the car and then just going into the house- we get a little glimpse of her emotions but not fully so when she just readily does those things i was like what really? So easily and so quickly? You do briefly mention her emotions and reasoning but i felt it was short changed and not really followed through and why those parts may have seemed a little odd or out of place. Otherwise, good story so far. I like. | |

| She is supposed to be in a dazed state. Like she doesn't really have that many emotions. Those who like Sapphire. She's an actual person. Shes amazing and funny an is just like Sapphire. most of my characters represent people. Enjoy the next chapter.. it gets way interesting..
Chapter 3 3. New
The next thing I knew I was writhing in pain. I was handcuffed to a giant table, probably to keep me from punching and kicking anyone who cam near me. It felt like my skin was on fire from the inside, and I couldn’t put it out. It was worse than when parker bit me, and drained my blood. I screamed and yelled, but it just made things worse. Everyone avoided me, there eyes creasing at every shriek. Like they were remembering when they changed. Some eyes were anxious, waiting for the good part of the change to come. I wonder how embarrassing it will be. The imaginary fire that was burning inside me grew and I felt like I was going to crisp up, and turn to ashes. Then it grew weak and slowly faded to a numbing sensation. What happened next, I was not expecting. I felt happy and peaceful, like I had never before. It was like running through a meadow as a little kid, playing in the flowers. It felt nice. It was sweet, like eating sugar with a spoon, and thrilling, like a first kiss, with a guy you really like. I smiled and laughed. I didn’t even care that everyone was watching, I was in a peaceful place, and that’s were I would stay. I closed my eyes, still grinning wide, and drifted to a peaceful sleep. I dreamt of blankness. Like a room covered in white. There was a soft humming in the background. A soft breeze ruffled through my hair. This must be a side effect from the venom. Then, the room shifted. It was dark and quiet, the humming stopped, and I couldn’t see anything. I heard a growl. It was loud, and it sounded close. I could feel sweat beading on my forehead, as I waited for my death. And I woke up. Sapphire was sitting beside me, cross-legged. She was rubbing my arm, trying to soothe me, I guess. She stopped, and blushed. I smiled at her. “How are you feeling?” she asked quietly. I sighed. “Better, yet slightly worse than yesterday.” she frowned “Do you mean Tuesday? Today’s Friday. You were asleep fro a few days.” “Hmm. I guess that makes sense. Oh, thank you for saving me. And changing me. I would be dead without you.” literally. “It was nothing really. It’s my gift. And changing you wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be.” She paused a moment. “What can I call you? I didn’t forget your name, or anything, it’s just that when you change into a vampire, you get to pick your own name.” That explains all of the different names around here. I thought it was just coincidence. I paused to think. “This is kind of hard.” “Well. It can be any name you want. It usually has to do with nature, or is something unique, but like I said any name you want.” “Hmm…I’ve always been fond of the moon…” I said, smiling. “Great! Welcome home Moon.” Woah. Home? I am supposed to live here now. “Home? Forest said I would stay here for a few days. Not that I don’t appreciate what you’ve done and all.” “For a few months, you’ll live here. This will be your new home. We all live here, and it really isn’t that bad. In fact, while you were sleeping, we all decorated your room. The girls did anyway.” “Thanks.” I smiled. They must actually care. She smiled back, and for once, I wasn’t dazed. “OH!” I blurted. “I want to see what I look like.” She laughed, “I figured you would.” We walked up the grand stairway and down a long hallway until we found a bathroom. It was filled with millions of toiletries and beauty products, and painted a sparkling blue. The most prominent things though, were the giant whirlpool bathtub, and the 10-foot tall, silver mirror. “Welcome to my bathroom!” Sapphire yelled. I could swear I heard an echo. “You get your own bathroom?” my eyes were wide in astonishment. “Of course. We all do.” she giggled. Then, I looked into the mirror, surprised by what I saw. I expected there to be nothing there. Like in the old legends. Vampires had no reflection. I actually saw myself clearly. I looked so different. Like a new person. My normally frizzy and tangled, brown hair was satin smooth. My fingers ran through it so easily. My eyes glowed a greenish-blue. Normally it switched around, one day blue, the other green. Now it was stuck in between. My face was pale, no longer holding the tint of embarrassment. “Woah.” I smiled and saw my razor sharp teeth gleam behind my soft, full lips. “Well, we better go show the rest of the family the new you.” Sapphire said, grabbing my hand. We were back in the living room in less then 10 seconds. Confused by the change of places in so little amount of time, I shook my head. Someone had already moved the table back into place. I realized that we had just sort of left everything down here, to go see what I looked like. “What do you mean by ‘family‘?” I asked before we sat down. “We call each other family. So, you’re my new sister. Xander and Alix are like our dad and mom, just because they are older than us, and more experienced. The rest of us are just ‘kids’.” “Oh. I get it. So, I’m like the baby?” She laughed “Yeah, I guess you are. Anyway, I’ll call the rest of the family.” She pulled her fingers to her mouth and whistled. Immediately, everyone appeared and took there seats. I watched there shocked faces, when they saw what I looked like. “It’s nice to see you all again.” I said in my new, musical voice. “The same to you, my dear.” Alix said. “Have you picked your new name yet?” “Yes, my name is Moon. I smiled. “Good. That’s a lovely name.” I looked around the room and saw Forest sitting next to Shine, his arm wrapped around her neck. Then, I saw Star and Aiden, staring into each others eye’s from across the room. I leaned towards Sapphire. “So, you can date your own brothers and sisters?” I whispered. She giggled quietly. “They’re not real family, remember?” Someone cleared their throat. If I could’ve blushed, I would’ve. “Well, you have a lot to learn. I’ll assume that Sapphire has told you some things?” “Not very much.” I said. “We have plenty of time to talk and learn.” Sapphire said. “But for now, I think we should let Sapphire relax. I’ll show her to her room.” “So, you called us here for nothing?” the boy named______ said. “Just shut up!” Sapphire snapped and we walked up the stairs. My room was the last one at the end of the hallway. We walked inside, and I immediately felt a rush of surprise. There was a huge bed sitting in the middle of the room, covered in millions of purple plush pillows. A giant canopy draped over it, making it seem elegant, yet childish at the same time. “No way!” I yelled and jumped on the bed, comfortable enough to fall asleep. “You guys really shouldn’t have done this.” Sapphire laughed. “It really isn’t that much.” Yes it is. I didn’t argue though. “I was thinking about something.” Sapphire said, looking nervous. I was the ‘baby’ before you were changed, and most of the older girls never wanted to hang out with me. They had boyfriends and other things to do. I haven’t had a slumber party since before I was changed and I was wondering…” I giggled. “Of course you can stay!” She jumped in the air, all signs of nervousness gone. “Yay! I’ll be right back.” About 2 minutes later she was back, her arms filled with a bunch of CD’s, movies, and a giant teddy bear. She was wearing silk pajamas with tiny vampire smiley faces on them. I tried hard not to laugh. She sat down next to me, plopping her head on one of the pillows. “We have so much to talk about!” she said in a mock ultra-girly voice that didn’t suit her very well. “But in the meantime, have you checked out your closet?” I got up and opened both doors. “Woah” I gasped. There were hundreds of outfits and about a million pairs of shoes. They were definitely things I would wear, which scared me and pleased me. It scared me because they knew exactly what I liked, somehow. It pleased me because now I have a whole bunch of new clothes that I didn’t even have to buy. “That was heart’s gift to you. She’s all into fashion and that stuff.” I smiled and closed the doors. I climbed back onto the bed next to Sapphire. “So what’s that _______ guy’s problem?” I asked “He just gets moody sometimes,” she said, looking uninterested. “Hmm. Anyway, what’s all this talk about me needing to know certain things?” “Well, there are certain rules when you are a vampire. One, you can’t tell anyone that you’re a vampire. That would just be stupid. Humans would freak out and we’d have to do something about it. It probably wouldn’t be a good thing.” She paused, looking sad. The second rule is you can’t be friends with werewolves or witches.” “Wait.” I interrupted. “Werewolves and witches?” “Yes. They are enemies of ours and we are forbidden to do anything with them.” “So they exist. And we’re not allowed to do anything with them. What else exists that humans don’t know about?” “A lot of things. There are even things that we don’t even know about. It’s a pretty confusing world. It’s not happy all the time like they make humans want to believe. If I was president or whatever, I would let humans know about everything, and hope my plan wouldn’t backfire.” “Wow. Is there anything else I need to know?” I asked afraid, of what she would say. “Not at the moment. We can relax for a while. If you want… of course, I could go onto vampire health… “ “No! I’m good. What movies did you bring?” “Good. I don’t feel like explaining all that anyway. Oh. I brought the Harry Potter series and Twilight.” I smiled. “We should watch Twilight.” “I knew you would say that. Don’t you just love that movie? The books are a lot better, but I like how the author puts a twist to vampires. Plus, it’s a really good love story.” “Yeah.” We settled in and watched the movie on my giant, 45 in. flat screen. We talked for a while about who was better looking, and what team we were. We ate popcorn and laughed, but I got really tired. I tried to stay awake and watch the movie, it was one of my favorites, but I couldn’t. I don’t even know why I was tired; I had just slept for about 3 days, hadn’t I? I wish I could’ve slept peacefully, but of course, I had to dream. It was more like a nightmare though. I was walking through the forest, late at night, and I heard a loud growl come from behind me. I spun around and came face to face with a giant werewolf. I looked into its eyes, pleading for my life. It made no noise, and wouldn’t make eye contact with me. It shook its dark gray fur and before me stood the guy from my last dream. He is a werewolf! “H-hello.” I stammered. No longer scared, but curious and nervous. “Hello.” He said, now staring into my eyes, like he wanted to see into my soul. “Do you remember me now?” I groaned. “No. I do not know you. The only time I have ever seen you, is in my dreams, and now I find out you’re one of my worst enemies.” “That doesn’t matter yet. You’ll remember everything soon.” “What is it I need to remember?” I asked, but it was too late. My dream disappeared into the grogginess of the morning. I yawned and my stomach growled. I wondered what vampires eat. Can they eat real food, or do they only drink blood. Obviously, there are a lot of things I still need to know. I walked over to my closet and searched for a few minutes. Eventually I found a cute dress. It black and had red sparkles sewed all over it. I decided to keep the converse -to make the outfit me. “Sapphire!” I whispered. There was no reply, so I shook her gently. Her eyes opened slowly. “What?” she groaned, covering her face with a pillow. “Can I use your bathroom?” I asked in a quiet voice, feeling bad for waking her. “Why don’t you just use your own?” “Um. I don’t know where it is.” “Oh.” She popped up off the bed. “I’ll show you.” I guess she couldn’t wait to give me more unnecessary things. “Thanks.” I said politely. We walked down the hallway until we stopped in front of the door with a full moon painted on it. How obvious “Here it is!” Sapphire said grinning. “Wow.” It matched the colors of my room, but was otherwise the same bathroom as Sapphire’s. “I’ll let you do… whatever it is you need to do…” Sapphire said awkwardly, and walked out, closing the door behind her. I grabbed a towel from the closet and set it on the counter. I put the shower on warm, undressed myself, and got in. Water came from every which way, massaging and relaxing. It gave me plenty of time to think. There are a lot of thing I need to know. How did Vampires become enemies with Witches and Werewolves? I really needed to know this since this guy/werewolf keeps appearing in my dreams. Then there was the food thing. My stomach growled just thinking about it. The thought of drinking blood, and saying goodbye to pizza and French fries just repulsed me. Plus, think of the humans that would die because of me. Just because I’m hungry. I shuddered at the memories of what happened to me. After a good 30 minutes, I turned the water off, put on the outfit I’d already picked out, and ran a brush through my hair. I looked in the cabinets and found plenty of beauty products including the black eyeliner that I rimmed my eyes with and the red lip-gloss that shined on my lips. I felt much better with myself now, than I had before with my human self. I was nothing compared to what I am now. I smiled, showing my dazzling teeth. Then my stomach growled. Again. I walked downstairs quietly, being sure not to wake anyone up. How great would that be? Waking everyone in this house up after everything that they’ve done for me. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I looked around the hallway, trying to remember which ay the kitchen was, when I ran into the girl named Star. “Oh! I’m sorry. I was just looking for the kitchen.” I said apologetically. “It’s okay, hon. The kitchens over there,” She pointed to an area that now seemed familiar. “How do you like it here, so far?” she asked politely. “I’m doing good. It was really nice of you guys to do all of this for me.” “It’s no problem, really.” She glanced upstairs a few times, looking distracted. “Well, I have to go. See you later.” And she was gone faster than a blink of an eye. It must be something vampires do. I walked towards the kitchen and started investigating. I found a bunch of real food, but settled on a Pop-Tart. “Much better than a bag filled with blood.” I muttered to myself, nibbling on my Pop-Tart. I heard footsteps coming from the hallway where I just was, and saw Sapphire round the corner. She was wearing a funky blue skirt with a torn black and blue t-shirt. “What are you eating?” she asked a disgusted look on her face. “A Pop-Tart.” I said and took another bite. “Well, I knew that, but I meant why?” she explained enthusiastically. “Oh. Am I not supposed to?” I said dropping it onto the counter. “No. Those are _________’s. I don’t know why he eats them anyway. “Oh. I didn’t know.” I said unable to finish eating it. Sapphire got a cup out of the cabinet and opened the fridge. She pulled out a black pitcher and poured the contents of it into her cup. I could smell what it was instantly. The salty, almost rust-like smell that made my stomach turn. If I were still human, I probably would’ve thrown up. But since I’m not, the blood smelled delicious and the desire for it burned in the back of my throat. “Are. You. Drinking. Blood?” I asked my eyes wide with shock. “Duh. Much better than what you’re eating.” She took a big sip of it and looked back at me. “You know you want some,” she taunted, shaking the cup around in front of my face. The burning grew. There went my good mood. Okay, yes. I wanted to consume the whole dang pitcher of blood sitting in that fridge, but I also wanted to throw up at the thought of it. “Where did you get that?” I asked, walking closer. “A bunch of different people. There’s a whole fridge filled with it downstairs, but it’s much better fresh. This is all donated, don’t worry.” Even being as repulsed as I was, I took the cup from her hand. The vampire side of me that craved the blood was stronger. I took a sip hesitantly. The taste exploded in my mouth. Like nothing I had ever tasted before. It was nothing compared to the blood you taste from a bloody lip. No. It was like dark chocolate. Bittersweet. It stopped the burning in my throat, but the desire grew. I drank faster and faster. “Hey! Slow down!” Sapphire yelled. She yanked the cup out of my hands, and I swear I could’ve bit her head off. It was like I was a monster. I wanted to kill my friend. The only friend I have right now. Over a human’s blood. “Sorry.” I mumbled. “It’s okay. It’s your first time. But you really could have gotten your own cup.” She said, and laughed quietly. I looked out the kitchen window, and saw a giant, green forest, the sun shining brightly over the canopy. “Look. I wanted to go for a walk in those woods, and I was wondering. I won’t burn up in the sun will I?” She laughed. “No. That’s just a silly myth. But be back soon, you can get dizzy and you’ll get a killer headache if you stay out too long.” “Okay.” I said, and I took off out the back door.

It was only a short walk to the forest behind the mansion. It was peaceful, the birds were chirping, the air was warm. I walked down a tiny path that looked recently used, and took a deep breath of the fresh air. I admired the beautiful flowers and tress. They could sit out in the sun forever without even getting dizzy. Once I was far enough away from the house, I sat down on an old tree stump so I could think for a while. I shouldn’t have to get away to think. If I had minded my own business, I never would have been here. I never would have been attacked, and then changed by vampires. I put my head between my knees to clear my mind. A twig snapped. Great. Here comes a repeat of my dream last night. I took a deep breath and looked up. I couldn’t see anyone or anything, so I spun around. My eyes must have been wide with shock when I saw_________ standing there. To my surprise, his eyes were wide too. “What are you doing here?” I asked. “What are you doing here? “I just needed a place to think. It’s quiet enough out here.” “Well then.” he said, getting ready to leave. “Wait.” I paused. “Can I ask you something?” “That depends.” he said. “When I first came here, you didn’t like me. Well, that’s what it seemed like to me. I was wondering what exactly I did.” He sighed. “I didn’t not like you; I just wanted you to know what you are getting yourself into.” “So, you would have rather me have died, when Sapphire’s spell ran off?” I asked, afraid of his answer. “Do you want to be a monster? I mean, really. Have you tasted blood yet? Because once you do, you just want it more. Why do you think they keep us locked up here? They don’t want us running off, killing a human in the streets, just because we’re ‘hungry’. He kicked a rock. It went spiraling in the air, and landed in the middle of a tree trunk, snapping it in half instantly. I stood there stunned. I had no idea what to say to what he had just said. I could feel tears coming, and anger. I was a monster. I just consumed a whole glass of blood, and wanted to drink the whole pitcher. If I were out on the streets, I would have probably attacked a human, just like he said. I shook the tears and anger away. I was not going to cry in front of anyone, let alone________. “You never answered my first question.” I said. “Which one?” he said, not noticing the sudden change of topics. “What are you doing here?” I repeated His eyes fell to the ground. “I was looking for someone.” “Oh.” technically, so was I. I was just too ashamed to say it, even to myself. He looked at me like he was waiting for me to say something to him. “You aren’t going to ask me who I was looking for?” he asked. “I wasn’t going to, because it’s not really my business, but now that you asked…” “I was looking fro my friend Bailey. He should be here any minute.” “Should I leave?” “No. It’s better if you know anyway.” Know what? I dropped the subject. I guess I’ll figure it all out later. “Can I ask you another question?” He laughed. “I suppose” It was nice to see him laugh. Every other time I had seen him, he was either angry or upset. But Today. Today, he laughed. “You’re sure I’m not being too nosy?” I asked “Well, you haven’t asked the question yet, so I wouldn’t know.” “Alright. I’ll ask you.” I took a deep breath. “How were you changed?” My face was serious. His smile disappeared. “I wasn’t ‘changed’,” he said. “Wait. You can just be born a vampire?” I suppose it’s possible “No, you can’t be born a vampire. But you can be born a half-vampire.” “So…” “Yes. I am half vampire. I didn’t get to choose whether I wanted to die or become a monster. I was born one, and now I’m stuck here.” He paused. “My mother died, to make sure I lived a life that I don’t even want! And my father. He just left me in a dumpster somewhere a few days after I was born.” He picked up a rock and threw it. Another tree fell. “I’m so sorry.” I whispered. “Look, I’ve never told anyone but Xander before. Everyone else thinks I am a normal vampire, and that’s the way it needs to stay. “I would never tell anyone. But is that why there’s all that food in the house?” “Actually, it’s for everyone, but I eat most of it. I haven’t had anything but real, human food my whole life. I walk past that fridge everyday and crave the blood even more.” “I ate one of your Pop-Tarts.” I blurted randomly. He laughed and it made me want to smile. I was glad to see that he had cooled down some. “It’s okay. I’d rather you eat them than blood.” I sighed. He told me one of his deepest secrets. I had to tell him the truth. “I drank blood. Sapphire was drinking it and I tried it. I craved it and it burned in the back of my throat, but I was repulsed by drinking it.” The next thing I knew, his hands were on my shoulders, shaking me gently. “You need to keep that. That’s your humanity -that feeling that makes you want to throw up at the thought of drinking blood. It’s what keeps you, no, all of us, from becoming blood-crazed animals! Those who drink blood all of the time, slowly lose their humanity.” Then the loud howling began. “Aww, crap. Bailey’s a werewolf isn’t he?” “How do you know?” he asked, surprise crossing his face. “Because I have been having these dreams, and last night, I found out the guy in my dreams was a werewolf. Now the howling, and ugh!” “Well, that’s odd. But it saves some explaining.” “What?!” Then I saw him. The giant werewolf with the dark gray fur, standing ten feet away from me. “Hello, Bailey,” _______said The wolf calmed down, and gently shook its fur. Then, before me stood the guy from my dreams in his human form. “Hello, _______,” he said, not noticing me. “It is you!” I blurted. He saw me then, looking confused. “I don’t understand. I have no clue who you are, but you seem to know me.” “But, I saw you in my dreams! Human and vampire. It was you!” “I don’t now what you’re talking about. Who are you?” “I’m Moon. I’m a newborn vampire.” “I have never heard your name before, or seen you.” “This doesn’t make any sense.” I whined. “Look, we can figure this out later. We need to do what we came here to do.” “What is that?” I asked, confused. “We’re trying to figure out something to do about the war that is going one between vampires, werewolves, and witches.” _______ said. “Well, all I know about that is that they’re all enemies. I don’t even know how the war started.” “We’ll tell you then,” Bailey said. He pulled a huge tree out of the found as if it weighed nothing, and laid it in front of me. He sat down on it, motioning me to do so. “What the?” I muttered to myself, too low for any of them to hear. If they had heard, they didn’t show it. I saw________ sit down on my tree stump, and Bailey cleared his throat. I saw that the storytelling would take a while, and found a spot on the trunk of the tree closest to the leaves. “It all started a while ago -a few thousand years. The humans knew about vampires, werewolves, and witches. They were terrified of us, of course, so we made a little deal. If they stayed away from us, we would stay from them. “The humans split the towns in half, one side for the ‘monsters’ and one side for the humans. It didn’t work out as planned. The vampires still craved blood, the werewolves still had their bad temper and desire to kill, and the witches were so sneaky. Humans started disappearing.” He paused, shaking his head. “The humans got angry, as did some of the nicer of our kinds. Not all of the ‘monsters’ are bad. Some of them, like us, would like to protect the humans, and become friends with them. A war broke out between the humans and the monsters. The humans were nothing compared to us, but some of us didn’t want to kill them. “We eventually got the witches to put a spell on the humans so that they would forget us. Some of them escaped, and told their friends. Most of them weren’t believed or called crazy. Those who know now, usually keep to themselves to avoid trouble. “Most of the monsters from that period of time, died in the war, but their children grew up to fight. Their children fought each other, and their children’s children fought each other and so on. They don’t even know why, anymore. “The very few children who did know, passed it on down for generations. Hoping that the war would end. But sadly, only a few know today, and those we’ve told don’t believe. They’re still fighting. We just cannot see them. They fight in secret places, so that humans won’t see them. “This generation of monsters is different from the ones back then. Some of us are, at least. We’re smarter and stronger. I know that we can do this. We can stop the war. We just need more people on our side. So, a small group of us secretly meets. It’s against the new ‘rules’ for us to meet, so don’t tell anyone. “I won’t. Are humans still dieing though? I mean vampires still drink blood, and werewolves still have to kill, right?” “Yes. Most vampires get there blood from animals or they steal it from blood banks, and werewolves can kill animals too, but some choose not to. They still drink from or kill the humans.” “That’s horrible.” I whispered. “Well now you know. We just have to figure out what to do about it.” _________ nodded in agreement. His dark hair shaking in the wind. I never noticed before -he did look different. His chin was rounder, more childlike, his eyes wider, and the deepest of greens. He looked well, pretty. Not nearly average, but like a gorgeous supermodel. Not as perfect as the vampires, but 100 times better looking than the humans I was used to. He looked up at me, and my eyes fell to my feet. If I could have blushed, I would have. “Wait. You said there were others who don’t want the war?” I spoke quietly, trying to clear the new awkwardness. “Yes, why?”__________ said “Well, I sure as heck don’t want to be in this war, and it would be interesting to see the others.” _________ looked towards Bailey, wondering if it would be possible for me to me them. I waited for a response. “I suppose we could try it out.” Bailey said with a sigh. “You’re acting like it’s a bad thing, like it’s not safe for me to meet them.” “Well, some werewolves are new to our non-fighting group. They may still want to hurt you. They don’t really want to hurt you or anyone really. It’s just the way they were raised, and now it’s their reflex almost. “All you have to do is be careful. Try not to upset or anger any of them.” he said, looking at me carefully. “Okay. No angry teenage mood swings.” It seems simple enough “But, what about the witches? There are some of them who want to fight, right?” “We haven’t found any yet.” he said, looking up at the sky. “We better leave if you want to be back before you guys start to get sick.” The sun was still really bright. It must’ve been around eleven. Confusion sprawled across my face. “How long can we stay out in the sun before we get dizzy?” I asked “A few hours” A few hours?! How far away is this place? And for the rest of my life, make that existence, I would only be able to spend a few hours outside per day. Great. Walking there took forever. My dress tore in bunch of places because of thorns I had to walk through. My feet hurt, because I stepped in a puddle, and I got giant blisters. My hair probably looked like I had lived in a jungle for the past few years. I wasn’t in the best shape to be meeting new people, but I guess that’s what you get for wearing a dress in the middle of the woods. I know. What was I thinking? The house was giant wooden cabin nestled in the forest. It was like a nature fan’s heaven. It wasn’t nearly as extravagant as my new house, but it was just as gorgeous. The porch wrapped around the house, trees surrounding it, like a blanket. They were attached, almost. Like they belonged there. There was a nice chimney on the roof of the cabin, smoke puffing in little clouds coming from it. And honeysuckle climbing up the sides of the cabin, like vines. Roses grew in little bushes encircling the house, of different colors. It was amazing. I could smell all of the different scents before I could even see where they were coming from. Like the honeysuckle. It smelled so sweet, I could almost taste it. And I could smell the wood burning in the fireplace. It reminded me of the times my mom and I would go camping with my grandfather. I didn’t like the smell of roses that much. Sure, they were pretty, but they didn’t smell as good as they appeared to. It was confusing. The scents were so strong. It was like I was bent over in front of them, sniffing them, but I wasn’t. I hadn’t even reached the front steps yet. It must be a vampire sense. I could never have smelled these things so strong before. Not even if I was that close. “Hello! Earth to Moon!” _________ called waving his hand in front of my face, removing me from my own personal world. “Sorry. I was distracted by all of the different smells.” “It’s okay. You’ll get used to them in a few years.” “What do you mean? Why would I get used to a smell?” I asked, trying to hide the fact that I knew what he was talking about. I needed more info first. “Those are your vampire senses. When you are first born, the senses are really strong. You can smell everything. But after a while, they start to fade, because you get used to them. It’s kind of like a perfume. You where it a few times, and you notice it. But eventually, it’s like you didn’t even put it on.” “Oh. That makes sense.” I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get used to them. Sure, they’ll be bad smells, that a human nose couldn’t smell, but the good ones would make up for it. “Anyway. I want you to meet Holly and Swytch.” I turned to face two girls. They were clearly not vampire, but they weren’t human either. Something about them said that, I just don’t know what. One of them had long, dark brown hair that reached her hips. Her skin was a deep tan and looked like it was glowing from the inside out. She had nice, full lips that were twisted into a smile, that I couldn’t tell was friendly or not. The other had honey blonde hair that waved down to her shoulders. She stood tall, almost on her tiptoes, but was clearly shorter than the other girl. Her skin looked soft, and it was a cream color that reminded me of frosting on a cinnamon roll. I know. My analogies aren’t the best, but that what it looked like to me. The girls contrasted each other in an odd way. They looked completely different, but they stood together the same way, like they were attached at the hip. Literally. They stood hip and hip, their arms almost interlocked. It was a bit scary, and I hoped they were nice, because they looked like they would win, if they fought me. Even with my vampire strength. “Hello.” I spoke quietly, trying not to anger them. “Hello, I’m Holly.” The girl with the honey hair held out her hand, and I shook it slowly. It was hot! It almost burned, like Bailey’s had in my dream. It must be a werewolf thing. “And I’m Swytch. It’s nice to meet you.” The other girl said with a big smile, also holding her hand out/ I shook her hand, trying to ignore the warmth. It was hard to do. Like trying to ignore grabbing onto the hot burner on the stove. It wasn’t going to happen. “So, what are our plans to stop the war?” I asked. “Well, I was thinking that tomorrow we search the forests, trying to find any witches. We need to convince them that the war is wrong and get a few of them on our side.” Bailey answered. He looked like he was thinking the plan through as he said it. “And girls, I’ll need you to make sure that Smax and the others aren’t doing anything tomorrow. We’re going to need as much people as possible to cover the most ground.” They nodded and walked off. He turned to us. “You guys will probably want to wear some sunglasses so you can stay out in the sun for a while.” “I’m sure Heart’s got a few pairs for Moon, and I’ve got a few pairs of my own. Are you guys going to be your human selves or will you be running?” “We’ll probably be running since it’s faster. You guys should too. Maybe you could practice on the way back since Moon’s new to it.” Confusion struck me. Running? Why would I need practice? And how was I new to it? “What do you mean?” I blurted. “Have you seen how fast vampires move? That’s how we run, and since you’re new to being a vampire, you are probably very bad at running, and will run into things.” He was talking to me like he was explaining to a kindergartner that it’s bad to hit other kids. I would get him for that. “Oh.” I had noticed the speed; I just didn’t know that was what they called it. “I want to try it.” “Now?” “Yes.” “Well then, let’s go.” I could see a sparkle of excitement in his eyes. It made me afraid, because I had no idea why that sparkle would be there.

| The no name kid is interesting. My curiosity about HOW he is a half vampire is sparked. That's interesting. I also like the weirdness of Bailey being in Amber's dreams but in real life has no clue who she is. Maybe Amber has visions of the future just her powers haven't developed yet. Like the 'history' of the war. Gotta love em for trying to bring peace to the world. Peace all the way! | |

5.
Running was one of the best things about being a vampire. _________ and I practiced the whole way back. It was so exhilarating. I felt the wind blow through my hair, and I could run for hours without getting tired. The only time we would pause was if a branch slapped me in the face, and it was a brief pause. It was like riding a rollercoaster. A rollercoaster that I could go anywhere with, that I could control. Adrenaline rushed through my veins as I saw the trees and everything else fly past me. In a way, running was like my life. I was going too fast, starting over. I was leaving everything else behind me because it couldn’t catch up. It made me sad as fast as it had made me excited. I didn’t want to leave my life behind, but I needed to; I had no choice. To cheer me up a little, I concentrated on ________. He was very good at running; he never ran into any trees or got smacked with branches. It was like he had been doing it for years, and he probably had. He looked like he was flying or dancing, barely touching the ground. Once, I caught him glance over at me. I smiled and looked away, my heart beating fast. I don’t know why, but I think I was beginning to like him. Of course, I wouldn’t tell him. Not yet, anyway. Not until I was sure. I smiled again at the little hop that my life might actually be worth something. That I might actually have something to be happy about. When we were getting closer to the house, I slowed to a walk. He stopped too, questioning me with his eyes. He must’ve noticed how much I enjoyed running, and was wondering why I would want to stop. “Are the others like us? You know, against the war.” I asked. He shook his head. “No. It’s just us.” “So, there are no other vampires on ‘the good team’. Not even Sapphire?” “Not that we’ve found. And Sapphire doesn’t know about the war. Alix and Xander make sure they don’t know about. The don’t want them running off foolishly, and injuring themselves. They don’t know I know either. They don’t know that I met Bailey, and he told me about it, or that we’ve been secretly meeting ever since.” “But Sapphire has to know. She’s the one who told me that werewolves and witches were enemies of ours. She had to have found out something.” His face turned puzzled. “I wonder how she found out. I never told her anything, and I am positive Xander or Alix would never tell her. “That’s strange.” I whispered. “Thanks for telling me everything. I don’t want to be one of those people who doesn’t do anything all of their lives. I want to do my best to help. To end this.” “It’s no problem. You deserve to know. Just like everyone else does.” I smiled. By then, we had reached the stump I was sitting on earlier. “Before we get any closer to the house, can I tell you something? I mean, you told me a bunch of stuff, and I need to tell someone this. I feel like I can trust you…” I rambled. “Sure. What is it you want to talk about?” I took a deep breath. “Remember how when I saw Bailey, I recognized him? And I was talking about how I saw him in my dreams?” He nodded his head. “I wasn’t lying. The day I was attacked I had this weird dream. I saw Bailey, as his human self. He knew who I was, but I didn’t know who he was. Everything felt so real, but then I woke up. “Last night, I saw him again. He transformed from werewolf to human, right in front of my face. He said I would know who he was soon, and today I met him!” Everything came out in a rush. _________ just stood there, wide eyed. Probably thinking of what to say. “Do you know what it means?” I asked. “It means that you have a gift. You’re a dream walker. I’ve never known anyone who’s had this gift, but I’ve read about it. It’s very uncommon. It means you can see glimpses of the future in your dreams. Some dream walkers, are even able to actually walk into other people’s dreams or even make a person dream about something.” I stood there, stunned. Unable to answer him. I couldn’t see into the future, I only saw one person. I definitely couldn’t walk through other people’s dreams. “You should keep a journal of your dreams, so we can test this out. If anything in your dreams comes true, we’ll know for sure.” “You promise you won’t tell anyone, unless you ask me first? I need time to see if it’s true.” I asked, barely whispering. “I promise. Now, we need to get inside. We can’t be sick if we are going witch hunting tomorrow.” “Right.” We walked through the backyard and into the house. Thankfully, no one was in the kitchen or living room. They would’ve asked us what we had been doing for so long. I glanced at the clock, reading 5:00, we’d been in the woods for nearly 6 hours, and all I’d eaten was a Pop-tart. ________ laughed, and headed fore the pantry. He pulled out a loaf of bed and peanut butter, and set them on the counter. “Sandwich?” “Sure.” I reached into the fridge to get the jelly, careful not to look at the black container filled with the blood, but I smelled it, and I nearly went crazy. I leaned my head back to get away from the smell, but my body pushed forward. It was like I was being dragged into the fridge by a rope attached to my stomach. I put my hands on the edges, but it was like a magnet pulling me to the pitcher. My throat burned like crazy, and I felt like crying. I wanted the blood, but then again I didn’t. ________ saw my struggle and came over to pull me away. “Hey! What are you doing” he yelled, pulling from my hips. “I can’t stop! Get me away from it!” “I’m trying! Breathe through your mouth. Try to calm yourself down.” I tried calming myself down. I took short shallow breaths from my mouth, but it felt like my throat had been ripped open. “It burns.” I screamed. “I know. Just calm down.” “What are you doing?” a voice asked. I knew who it was instantly. Sapphire. I could picture her standing there stunned. Here eyes would be wide and her mouth would hang open. “What does it look like? Help me get her off.” “Why? Just give her the blood. You know she wants it.” she said reaching around me and________ to get the pitcher. My snapped up, nearly hitting it on the top of the fridge, to follow Sapphire. She walked over to the cabinet, poured a glass, and before she set the pitcher down, I slammed into her, knocking it out of her hands. She flew back a few feet, the blood spilling all over the floor, along with the broken glass. I automatically bent down to lick up the blood, but ________ stopped me. Sapphire got up, brushed herself off, and helped him. Together they pulled me away and tossed me gently into the living room. I was breathing heavily and felt really hyper. I could feel myself breaking down, realizing what happened, and I started crying. “I’m so sorry!” I yelled. I kept repeating it, but I never felt better about myself. I tackled my best friend over a pitcher of blood. “What is wrong with me?” I wailed, slobbering all over myself. “Nothing is wrong with you. You are just hungry. I’ll go finish making the sandwiches and clean up the sandwiches. Would you like one, Sapphire?” “No. I’m fine. I’ll stay here with Moon.” “Alright. I’ll be back.” ________ said and left. “You should’ve drunk the blood.” Sapphire said, her face looking concerned and tired. “I don’t want to drink blood, though. My body does, but my mind and heart doesn’t. I want to be able to control myself. What happened back there, I never want to happen again. Ever. It was like someone else was controlling me. The way I tackled you. That wasn’t me…“I said, wiping my nose with my sleeve. My breathing had slowed, but tears were still rolling, quietly, down my face. “Your body wants the blood, Moon. When it sees what it wants, it’ll try it’s hardest to get it. It wasn’t your fault.” “I’m still sorry though.” “It’s okay.” I stopped as much of the tears as I could then because ________ walked in the room with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. “Ugh. I don’t know how you eat those things.” Sapphire said, her face disgusted. “I’ll see you tonight.” She got up and hesitated in the doorway. “Do you want to sleep in my room tonight? You’ve had a rough day.” I nodded and took a bite of my sandwich. She smiled and walked away. “Thank you” I said to ________, my mouth full. “Your welcome.” He said and took a bite of his sandwich. “I really am sorry about what happened.” “It’s fine.” His face turned serious. “Do you understand what I meant? You don’t have any control once you drink blood.” “I understand. I will never drink blood again. Nor will I go more than 4 hours without eating and then come within sight of blood.” He laughed, and I took another bite. While we were finishing our sandwiches, we watched the news. It made me tired. I had always hated watching the news. It usually made me cry, fall asleep, or practically die of boredom. I got up and put my plate in the sink. “I think I’m going to get ready for bed. What time are we going to Bailey’s?” I asked, yawning. Why was I tired? It was like 6:00. “We need to be there by 9:00, so we should leave around 8:00. We’ll probably get there early, since you’re so good at running.” I smiled. “Okay. Goodnight.” “Goodnight.”
I walked upstairs and knocked on Sapphire’s door. She greeted me with a big smile and motioned for me to come in. She was wearing blue, plaid pajama shorts with a black tank top. I laughed quietly. Her sense of fashion was so awesome, but I don’t think it would look good on me, even as a vampire. “So, what’s up?” I asked. “Nothing much, just relaxing.” “Cool. What do you want to do?” “Well, we could act like little kids and give each other makeovers.” She said, smiling. “Sounds like fun.” “Really?” She seemed surprised. “Sure. Let’s do it.” About an hour later, my hair was in millions of tiny braids. Her short, spiky hair was in ringlets around her face. She was wearing blue lipstick and purple eyeliner, and her face was covered with pale blue eye shadow. I had purple and silver stripes on my face, and black lipstick and eyeliner. Together, we looked like those exotic supermodels that you see on T.V, except for we weren’t that skinny. We laughed and took pictures. It was like I was a kid again, and I was hanging out with my best friend. It felt like I had known her forever. Like she was my sister. It was the most fun I’d had in a long time. We had to use serious amounts of make-up remover to get it all off of our faces. The mess on the counter wasn’t that bad, so we didn’t have to clean that much up. I yawned. “I think I better go get my blankets and pajamas.” “Okay.” she plopped onto her bed. I walked down the hallway and opened my door. I searched my closet for pajamas, finding some neon green sweatpants, and a blank, white t-shirt. I switched into them, grabbed my blanket and a few pillows, and ran to Sapphire’s room. I was getting really good at it. When I opened the door, I could hear the low music that Sapphire had playing in the background. All I could hear was a guy screeching and a guitar playing. I walked over to her giant sofa and lay down, getting comfortable. “Do you mind if I ask you something?” “No. Go ahead.” “How were you changed?” She seemed hesitant, and then a bit sad. “My father was a scientist. He was human, but he knew about vampires. He had a vampire as a patient once, but then the patient died. I know, you’re wondering ‘how did a vampire die’. Well, I don’t know how. All I know is that he did. My father used the corpse for experiments, and one day he came across the venom. He needed someone to test it on, and I volunteered. The venom transformed me, I lost control. My dad didn’t know about the extreme bloodlust. I began to go crazy and I… fed from my father. He died.” She seemed like she was going to cry, but didn’t. “I’m sorry.” I barely whispered. “Now you know why I wanted you to drink the blood. You go crazy without it.” “I’m sorry. I’ll listen to you next time.” I lied. Well, kind of. I was too tired to go into the blood issue again. “Well, I’m going to get some sleep.” I said, yawning. “Hmm. Me too. Goodnight.” “’night” The next thing I knew I was wandering through the forest. It was dark, but I knew I wasn’t alone. “I know you’re there, Bailey” I called quietly. He appeared in front of me grinning. “You know who I am now.” He said it like a question, but it was more like a statement. “Yes, but you don’t. Not in real life. Not like you do here.” “Of course I do. But I couldn’t let Shadow know. He would be angry that I have a gift that I didn’t tell him about.” “And what gift is that?” “The same as yours. A dream walker.” “Really?” “Yes. Would I be here if I was lying?” “You see, that’s the thing. I have no clue about my gift. I have no clue what it does, or if it’s even what I have.” “Well. I’m not lying. And you do have the gift. I can explain more to you later, in my awake body. There’s not enough time to talk, you must have your vision. I must leave you now. Concentrate deeply.” “What?” and he disappeared. I was so confused. I looked around for a place to sit, but decided it didn’t really matter since I was dreaming. I sat down on the damp ground and closed my eyes. It was about 30 seconds later when I used my true gift for the first time. The scene around me transformed. I saw a line of werewolves on one side of me and a line of vampires on the other. I recognized Bailey and _________ in a group with a few others off to the side. Was I in the middle of a battle? And why weren’t Bailey and______ doing anything to stop this? There were a few growls and battle cries and the lines ran to each other. They ran right through me, ripping and tearing each other apart. It was at that time that I saw my family in the line of vampires. Forest, Aiden, Star, Heart, Shine, Xander, Alix, all of them. I looked over to the line of werewolves, but I couldn’t recognize any of them. I had never seen any of them in their werewolf form, except Bailey. There was a lot of screeching and snapping. I saw Star standing there, her left arm gone from the elbow down. My jaw dropped. Aiden tackled the werewolf that I guessed had done that, and I couldn’t look anymore. I heard more howling and tearing. I had to close my eyes. I couldn’t bare to watch the deaths of my new family members and friends. Something had to be done. The war had to be stopped. I felt like crying and screaming at the top of my lungs. What is wrong with my life? Everything in the past few days has gone completely wrong. Then the vision was gone. I woke up screaming, sweat pouring down my face on Sapphires couch. The sun was just rising, so everyone must’ve been asleep. Crap. I looked over at Sapphire’s bed to see if she was still asleep. She was. Quietly, I got up with my stuff and went to my room. So far, there was no sign of anyone being awake. I grabbed a good pair of jeans, a purple tank top, a big black hoodie, and the sunglasses that mysteriously appeared on my bed while I was sleeping. After changing into them, I crept down the hallway to the room I guessed was ________’s. I knocked quietly, hoping he was awake. I had to tell him about my dream. Even if he was sleeping, I would wake him up and tell him. We needed to do something about it and fast. There was no answer, so I knocked again, louder this time. He opened the door with a tired and surprised look on his face. “What’s up?” he asked, yawning. “My dream.” That was all I needed to say. He motioned me into his room, and I sat down in a big plushy chair while I told him about it. I nearly started crying when I mentioned t he amputation of Star’s arm. I didn’t tell him about the part with Bailey. I needed to figure that out myself, first. He just sat there with a blank look on his face, like he was trying to imagine it. “What was it like?” he asked, still staring off into space. “It was horrible. Can you imagine watching the death of your family? They can’t see you or hear you and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. You can’t even leave until it’s over.” He didn’t say anything. “We have to stop the war. If we don’t, people in this house and in Bailey’s house will die.” I whispered. “I know. We’re trying our hardest.” “We need to try harder. I don’t want my visions to come true.” He ran his hand through his tangled, brown hair. “We should leave sooner. I’m going to get dressed. We leave in an hour okay? I nodded my head and left. I went into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. Even though I was a vampire, I still looked a mess. I ran a brush through my hair and put it up in a ponytail. There was no point of any heavy-duty make-up if I was going to be in the woods all day, so I slapped some concealer under my eyes and some chapstick on my lips. My stomach growled. I went downstairs to the kitchen and was surprised by Star. I bit back tears. “Hey.” She whispered quietly, staring into her cup. It smelt like coffee. “Hi.” Why does she seem so sad? She has no clue of the dream I just had. I’m the one who should be sad. She nodded her head, not making eye contact. Why did she nod her head? She can’t hear me. She nodded her head again. Confusion sprawled across my face. Hey! If you can hear me look up. Say something! She looked up to me and I could see that her blue eyes were rimmed with red, from tears. ”I know.” “You know? Can you read minds?” “Yeah. I saw what you saw when you thought about it just now. I won’t tell anyone about your gift, if you stop it from happening.” “I’ll try to. But you have to forget that this conversation ever happened, okay? “Sure.” She smiled a weak smile, got up, put her cereal bowl in the sink, and left. I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet and some Honey Nut Cheerios from the pantry. Thank goodness Star left the milk on the counter. I definitely did not want to go through the whole blood frenzy thing again. I ate my bowl of cereal slowly and then waited for_________ outside. I put on my sunglasses and enjoyed the fresh air. There was a nice breeze and the birds were chirping quietly. If I could stay outside forever, I think I would. It was only a few minutes later that _______ showed up. He was wearing clothes similar to mine, and eh seemed anxious to get to Bailey’s “Are you ready?” “Yeah, let’s go.”
Chapter 6
We got there way faster than we did before now that I was better at running. “We’re early.” Shadow said. “Hmm. Is that a bad thing?” I said, a little proud. “Well, no. But we have to make sure that we don’t wake them.” “Oh. How many of them are there? The good ones, I mean.” He took some time to think. “There are 5 that I know of.” “And there’s 1 vampire, 1 half-vampire, and we’re off to find witches today. How are we going to stop this?” I said, more to myself than to Shadow. “I don’t know. It’s going to be tough, but we can do it. I know it.” He smiled. I smiled back, but my heart wasn’t in it. He hadn’t seen the things I had. We reached the front porch, and I took in the scent of the house, just by standing on the steps. I smelled maple syrup and hot pancakes, eggs, maybe even bacon. It smelt like home to me. “They’re up.” I said. “I know.” he said and knocked on the door. Bailey opened the door and the smells grew stronger. “Sorry if we’re bothering you, we got here faster than we thought we would.” “And we have something important to tell you.” I added. “Oh. You’re fine. We we’re just about to eat breakfast.” Bailey said, ignoring what I said. He motioned for us to come in. I bet he knows what’s up. He probably stayed throughout the rest of my dream. Stupid dream stalker. We walked in simultaneously and I felt immediately comfortable. Except for the teeny bit of nervousness I felt around Bailey. There was something different about him. Something that I wasn’t sure was a good thing. I looked around to distract myself from that feeling. The walls around us were wooden and decorated with pictures of children laughing and playing. It was very warm and cozy, and I felt more at home than I had in a while. “No, I ate at the house.” I said “I’m good but thanks anyway.” Bailey nodded and turned around. We followed him. I heard voices, and I knew we were getting closer to the kitchen. I took a deep breath, ready to meet the werewolves. They couldn’t be that bad, right? Shadow whispered something to Bailey. It must’ve been about my dream because his eyes grew wide, in probably fake surprise. I tried not to look at them, so they wouldn’t see my embarrassment or frustration. They kept talking and my anger grew. I don’t even know why. Something must not have been right. I’d never felt like that before. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground, a huge guy on top of me. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking and had run straight into him. It felt like my ribs were on crushing; it hurt to exhale. My skin felt like it was boiling. The guy had to have seen my discomfort or realized what had happened because he jumped backwards and stood up. “I’m sorry,” He said in a deep, wonderful voice.” “No, I’m sorry. It was my fault, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking.” He was about to argue with me, I could tell, but Bailey stopped him. “We’ve got some big news to tell you guys. So, everyone pay attention,” he said, looking at the people in the kitchen. They weren’t necessarily what I had expected. They each were unique in their own way. “Yeah, yeah, just tell us what it is already,” said a deep voice. It was the guy who I ran into. He was giant, nearly 7 feet tall. I had to look up to see him grinning, waiting to hear what the big news was. He looked like a playful bear. I wanted to laugh, but I held it in. This was serious business. Bailey was about to tell them about my dream. I took a deep breath. “I will, if you have some patience, Thorn,” Bailey said, looking tired. Thorn nodded, noticing the seriousness in the room. “Our friend Moon here.” Bailey said gesturing to me. “has a special power. She’s a dream walker. She foresaw a battle between the werewolves and vampires. One of her friends was injured. A few of us were in the battle fighting. We need to figure out a way to stop this, fast.” The people I didn’t know stared. I could feel them burning holes in my head. I looked awkwardly at my feet. “Well, we’re going witch hunting today, right?” A girl spoke up. She had long, curly hair in dark wisps around her face. She was short. But in a healthy way. She seemed eager to help, and I thanked her in my head. “Yes, although you shouldn’t really call it that, River. We need everyone to tell us that no matter what happens, you won’t fight. “I won’t fight, I promise,” the girl named River said. “Me too.” “and me,” Holly and Swytch said nearly simultaneously. Bailey looked sternly at Thorn. “Yeah, yeah, I promise,” He said and sighed. “We, I mean, I promise too,” I said, looking at Shadow nervously. “No, you’re right, Moon. We promise. “And I promise. Now, let’s go find some witches,” Bailey said. “Yeah, let’s go.” Shadow said
I felt my heart jump in excitement as well as relief when I got paired with Shadow. I don’t think I could handle being paired with anyone else. Besides, I was beginning to like him. A lot. Holly was paired with Swytch, which I suspected would happen anyway, they were nearly inseparable. Thorn was paired with River, and Bailey walked by himself. He insisted it that way. I glanced over at Shadow, while we were running, to see him staring at me. I looked the other way quickly. That was so embarrassing. Of course, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was running, and ran smack into a tree. I know, I know. Again. Oddly, it felt the same as when I ran into Thorn, except for the tree didn’t fall over and crush me. Thank heaven for that. Before I could even complain, Shadow was at my side, helping me up. “Are you okay?” he asked, a panicked look on his face. He should be concerned. It’s all his fault. He had to look at me, didn’t he? I sighed. “I’m fine,” embarrassed, but fine. He had a slight grin on his face, like he was about to laugh. Then, to my surprise, he did. “Are you laughing at me?” I said giving him the evil eye. He just kept giggling away. “Why are you laughing at me?” I was starting to get angry. He held up a finger, telling me to ‘wait a minute’. He caught his breath, and I continued staring at him. “I’m laughing at you because you’re so funny. You should really pay attention to where you run. First Thorn, and now this poor tree. You might want to brush those leaves off” I looked down and sure enough, there was bunch of crinkly, dried up leaves. I swatted them off quickly. So, he had seen me run into Thorn, and he noticed my reason for crashing into the tree. “I only run into things when you’re around,” I muttered to myself. Crap! I bet he heard me. He smiled and looked away. “Well maybe if you didn’t stare at me the whole time, we wouldn’t have this problem,” he said grinning widely. I have never seen this side of him before. Usually he’s so sullen, so serious. Now he’s laughing and flirting. With me. “If I can remember correctly, You were staring at me.” His smile lessened a little. “I guess you got me there,” he said. “I guess I did.” I smiled. So he confessed to staring at me…sort of. I’d give anything to know what he’s thinking. “Well, we’d better get going.” he said. “Let’s just try not to run into any trees this time.”
