Exactly, Ashely!That's why if we have to hear literary face-offs, we're too many times better off with Hogwarts V.S Camp Half-Blood or The Vampires of Cirque Du Freak V.S the Vampires of Vampire Academy, because at least all 4 are well-managed from beginning to end! That, and while i don't think Vampire Academy plagerizes, i felt that Mead borrowed elements from Cirque Du Freak[she did mention all those who write Vampire Literature are her collegues, right?So Darren must be on that list!]The Gemma Doyle Trilogy[Both Gemma and Rose kept their distances from their mothers at least during book 1, plus they both mention some of the un-censored and gory details about mating, i might add, not to mention Rose and Company managed to do at least as Competent jobs at making The V.A novels readable, as Gemma and her fellow lovely Spence Academy ladies helped the trilogy soar!]And even P.J.O, for that matter[The atmosphere of abnormals or immortals mating with humans a long time ago, Rose and the Angel Princess Lissa reading very much like Annabeth Chase split in two, somehow, and even Christian Ozera reading much like a fusion of Darren Shan[Another Vampire Prince, except Darren wasn't born to position!] and either Perseus or Nico Di Angelo, the latter whom could also wield flames and not die from getting hit with fire!] Can anyone feel free to add anything else to the list? | |

| Besides...it makes matters more complicated that one of the four series[P.J.O/V.A/T.M.I/C.D.F] would have to carry the fate of the fan-bases of the other 3 series in their hands...and when that time comes, i'm not so sure we would be as friendly with each other as we are, now, instead of ripping the others' throats, for that matter!When that time comes, pray that whichever series leads us to a new direction, that it would be positive, like the earlier Potter-World days..pray, we're that lucky!
That said, i even hear cases that Mead is writing Vampire Academy as if it were the Succumbus series, in the same vein that Frank Miller Wrote 300 as if it were Sin City...granted, apparently 300 was mind-blowing, but aside from that, i hope it's just a scare tactic of a bluff, and Mead realizes the differences between writing the Succumbus Series and writing Vampire Academy!!!T_T | |
