| Really? I read some bad reviews. They said it wasn't even clear it was a vampire based novel until 2/3 of the way into the book and it was otherwise about teen angst. Does it get better as the series progresses? | |

| I have the first one. And I found myself really... pushing myself to get through it. I haven't read the second one, or the third one for that matter. I have to agree, it was cleverly written, and I absolutely love the main character because she's out of the ordinary. | |

| I've read the first book in the series and it is witty. She, like the Casts and Meyer, has created an alternative vampire lore. They walk around, eat, live, etc., but they're immortal in the sense that their blood lives on and can regenerate the memories of their past lives....and they're angels expelled from heaven. That was a weird twist.
The only nit I have to pick is on detail: I don't really have a feel yet for any of the characters except Mimi and well...she's shallow...so she's not hard to get. The other detail is that although I get that in the age of IVF, implanting the blood is easy, how'd they do it in the age of Egyptian Pharohs? How'd the save/store the blood and then pass it on to the next embryo?
Hopefully Masquerade has some answers. I'm hitting that one next.

| So I read Masquerade while on the plane (they're like appetizers they're so easy to read!). The story definitely picks up. So my guesses/thoughts, w/o reading Revelations (I'm #10 on the waitlist at the library) is that:
1. Charles threw Chase to the Silver Blood that was about to kill Allegra which is how Chase dies and why Allegra won't forgive Charles. But then this would mean that Charles knew the SBs were around and denied it. But it also would explain why he chose to have Abaddon and Azrael called on right after Allegra goes into the coma...he needs his strongest weapons.
2. Gabrielle has two daughters. It's heavily implied that it's Bliss but Bliss has memories of Plymoth while Schuyler does not. So Bliss isn't a "new" soul. Also, she looks nothing like Schuyler. So what's the deal w/ Llewellyn and Allegra? Who's the daughter? I thought Jordan at first given how BobbiAnn keeps calling her ugly (human?) but she's too young and Allegra's been in a coma for a lot longer.
3. Bliss is Maggie Stanford isn't she? And Kingsley said she's like him...so does that mean she's a SB? Have they infiltrated the blood depository and are reborn once a generation leading to the pattern that Lawrence discovered? Or is Llewellyn the SB and that's what Dylan has discovered. Beauty went nuts after Bliss and Bliss' dog went nuts after the Lucifer's Rose necklace. Hmmm....
4. I don't know if I should feel bad for Jack or not. He's destined for Azrael, loves her, but is always flying to Gabrielle like a moth to a flame. She never breaks her bond for him (although it's implied he'd do for her) and when she does break her bond, he's not in cycle and he's human. Now he's after Schuyler. Is it Gabrielle's blood that draws him? Or is it really Schuyler. And if she spurns him, will he spend eternity chasing two women who won't return his affection while continuing to spurn Azrael until their bonding ceremony?
5. Schuyler is so deluded if she thinks she only loves Oliver as her best friend. She goes from "we were made for each other" to "this is a mistake" to "you should date" to "he's so handsome".
6. Claudia said that Lawrence would know how to stop the SBs. He hasn't done anything yet. Interesting that Kinglsey would finger Mimi right at the time that the White Vote was happening. And also convenient that Schuyler could prove Mimi innocent and save her life. I'm not saying Lawrence is the SB, but I'm just suspicious as to Kingsley's role in Lawrence's election as Regis.

| Subject: Revelations Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:47 am | |
| Well I finished Revelations last night. OMG that was something awesome. So Bliss is the daughter of Lucifer? And she is the silver blood but also the sister of Schuyler? How's that work? I was right that she was Maggie Stanford but how/why'd she die the last time? And why isn't anyone going after Allegra who's all unprotected? She'd be an easy target for SBs...why isn't she one?
And if Bliss is the SB, then what of Morgan? Did she really not drain him? If SBs can't drink human blood, then what really happened to Morgan? And if Jack pronounced him alive, was he lying? Was he going to be with Schuyler by letting Mimi go to Rio and get trapped?
Why didn't Lawrence sound the alarm when the Conclave showed up in Rio and he was all fine?
If Kinglsey told Bliss at the after party that "they were the same" then it means he knew Bliss was the SB all along. Yet Lawrence and Charles trust him....is he allowing Leviathan to come out so he can be destroyed once and for all? Is Schuyler the one?
And how is that Michael can destroy Lucifer but nothing can destroy his brother?
Egads there were so many questions answered yet so many more created.

| I read Masquerade and Revelations. I liked the stories, not the greatest written, but still fun to read. I also like the whole dynamic between Mimi (Azrael) and Jack (Abbadon). | |

| The 4th book in the Blue Bloods series brings us werewolves aka "hell hounds". I really like how she mixes vampires with the bible and now she's brought in werewolves! Well...she mentions them at the end.
This installment was jam-packed full of action. Lucifer's family ties to our white hats, grey hats, and black hat characters are highlighted. A bit of history about Caligula's fall is brought in. Traitors are not what they seem. Friends are not who you think they are. And sometimes, the ties that bind are love and not blood.
Mimi Force aka Azrael grows leaps and bounds as a person for the first time in thousands of years. Is it any wonder it's because she's not tied to Abaddon like in years past and is simply not repeating her life cycle after cycle? And she learns love is best when it's freely given and deserved.
Jack Force aka Abaddon is still smarting from the loss of Light. He is desperately in love with the Daughter of Light Schuyler Van Alen who's taken off with her human Conduit Oliver in hiding. Who will win Sky? Oliver or Jack? Who loves her more? And will he be the one who wins?
What of Bliss, daughter of Lucifer and Gabrielle? Will she continue to be used by her father's spirit to kill and set up her friends for the fall and domination? Or will she finally succeed in stopping her father like she's tried for life and life?
The author writes great stories but they're woefully short. Instead of the 350+ books I am used to by vampire teen authors, hers usually are under 300 pages. A great installment that will surely fire the computers and message boards up with discussions.

| Well how are vampires supposed to be the fallen angels? De la Cruz made werewolves hounds of hell who have come to earth. So why not?
What I don't get is that before going on the run, Sky and Oliver kissed. They spend a year together and NOTHING happens...not even kissing? That sounds a bit far-fetched for teenagers.

Nevertheless, was anything mentioned about Dracula?

| http://bluebloodsbooks.com/target/]http://bluebloodsbooks.com/target/ [password: legacy] There was too much packed into here. Kingsley's long-time unrequited love for Azrael, Bliss' birth with burned swaddling cloth, Forsyth's role in the whole thing, Gabrielle's abduction, why Kingsley told Bliss "I'm like you", that Charles "fathered" Mimi and Jack, etc. It really needed more explanation and expansion. Especially Bliss' birth and why it was the greatest threat. I mean, why was the swaddling burned? Why did Gabrielle not remember any of it? How'd she wake up from her coma and all of a sudden know all? If the spell Kinglsey did could only work if Silver Bloods were around, then why did it mean the SBs were "back" and not an indication of Kingsley himself? If Kingsley, as an SB, doesn't change/age/whatever, then how was a kid to Caligula and now a man? How come no one suspected Bliss was still alive, that Forsyth hadn't done his duty, when the Path was opened? See....lot's of questions. | |

| Lets hope the next Blue Bloods novel will have more pages, in that case, because if not, this series would be even more structureless[in rhyme and reason, not rules of worlds!]than The Percy Jackson And The Olympians novels[i still honestly don't think its out of the question for non-Big 3 Demigods to outlast most Vampires, let alone outfight them, if you give them the right equipment in a fight, but the rhyming and reasoning for such stuff is less explored than i would have liked!]
That said, if that series considered some Vampires to be Fallen Angels, finally, at least they're admitting it outloud instead of hiding it, as Mead is doing when it comes to Lissa Dragomir!

| I have the first 3 books, got the box set. I started to read the first book but haven't gotten really far, maybe up to the 4th chapter. The writing is kinda a turn off to me- the transitions are terrible, from describing the scenery and then switching to narrative , I'm often confused about who is speaking. But so far, (not really a spoiler alert but i guess if u never read the series or know about them then this can be kind of a spoiler, but like i said I've only read a few chapters) the twist on vampires is kinda alluring- the whole blood thing and retaining memories from a past life and the whole membership club. It's different and i like that. I will definitely get to reading this series soon. | |

| Blue Bloods has a scene in which the Fallen Angels[Vampires] are in a bikini photoshoot! Which book was that, again? Tell me the series is using its Eye-candy moments, sparingly, instead of overusing them to near-abusive ends! | |

Tell me the series is using its Eye-candy moments, sparingly, instead of overusing them to near-abusive ends! Lol the second book. Masquerade I believe it's called. Lol. It's not over used or anything. Just random - some characters have a job as a model So sometimes the story follows them to the photo shoot.

| I just got done reading the first 3 books yesterday and I love them so far. The first one took me a little bit to really get into and understand anything but the whole series keeps me guessing. I haven't read the Van Alen Legacy yet. I'm on a waiting list at the library for it so i didn't read any replies that talked about it (although i am pretty impatient to knwo what happens). Is the van Alen Legacy the final book or is there more coming out? | |
