PostSubject: Re: V-day plans?   V-day plans? - Page 2 Icon_minitimeThu Feb 11, 2010 8:14 am

lol Tasha. I wish I could be creative and come up with something simple yet so sweet. I have decided for us to just go out Saturday night. We're going out to eat and then to see The lightning thief Very Happy i don't want to make a big fuss over V-day. We'll be celebrating the 16th a few days early. on the 16th we'll have been together for 7 years. And i agree about the whole marriage thing. our Wedding anniversary is on September 30th. We've been married for almost 4.5 yrs

anyways

I agree with the whole friendship thing. I've been through so much friend drama that i don't trust anyone anymore. I had a group of friends that I thought were the best but as soon as I got pregnant with my first they bailed on me. I mean completely dropped me but thought they could come back into my life a few yrs later like nothing ever happened. I still talk to them occassionaly you know the hi how are you doing thing but thats it. I have 1 friend that I'm close to-we've known eachother for 10 yrs and have been through hell and back together. I miss having a close group of friends but I'm so over the whole drama thing that I refuse to get close to many people...Oh and the one person who i though would bail on me for getting pregnant was my bff at the time she was a major Christian and very much believed in marriage before sex. She stayed by my side for a while. we were inseperable but then she started college and hanging with a new group of people and we started drifting apart which is understandable. we kit fairly well but haven't hung out in 3 yrs. She's did a complete 180 she now smokes, she's not a virgin, she parties...she's not the same little Christian girl i was best friends with for 5 years. She's the one person i truely miss the most. sheesh i'm tearing up as I type this. i'm such a baby lol its just a real sensitive subject for me Sad

blah anyways I hope everyone has a great V-day whether its with a bf or the girls!

Lol Kim...actually i was going over the batman theme in my head da na na na LOL

Aw Wilda. I understand about getting tear-ed up. Yesterday, while on face book, face book so considerately suggested I friend my ex-best friends. I clicked on their profiles and saw pictures of all 3 of them hanging out. It stings to see that and not be a part of them. I got kind of upset and watery eyed. And it's one of those situations that i know i didn't do anything wrong but since their still a close knit group of friends and i'm the outsider, it makes me wonder if everyone thinks that way then maybe they are right and I'm wrong.

It sucks yours friends bailed on you when pregnant. I only had one close friend who got pregnant but i didn't bail on her, she jumped shipped and moved to California out of nowhere. I know it's hard to maintain the same kind of friendship because of lifestyle chances, but it's not impossible.

I have a few Christian friends. They always make me Rolling Eyes . I heart them. But, like your friend that did the 180, they all almost always do. Or they are hardcore in the Christian ways when it fits them. Like this one guy i know, monday- friday even his facebook statuses are religious and righteous. Then come Saturday its all about drinking and partying. OR it's the fact they started off with the whole hardcore partying and sleeping around and drugs thing and NOW are hardcore believers and have the nerve to look down on you. I mean nothing wrong with having faith. I respect and look up to people who are firm in their religious beliefs. But, it's the "i'm holier than thou" attitude i dislike....especially considering the history of some of them. You don't change overnight, even if the actions stopped, your personality didn't or the reasons why you acted such ways didn't. There's even this one guy in my class. I mean we're not friends friends, but my major is really small, so half of us have several classes together- we've been in the same sign language class since the beginning. He was always religious and what not. Then last year, he's girlfriend got pregnant. He felt the need to pull me and friend aside and explain to us he fell into temptation and he doesn't want to be hypocrite. I was like "dude, frankly i don't care. It's not my business. Who am I to judge you? Your the Christian you should know not to judge. If your happy, then I'm happy."

PostSubject: Re: V-day plans?   V-day plans? - Page 2 Icon_minitimeThu Feb 11, 2010 3:44 pm

Aw, Wilda *hugs* You poor thing. I can't believe people sometimes. People can't stay the same forever, and just because something different happens in someone's life shouldn't mean you drop them from your own life.
I don't have a giant group of friends I hang out with, in fact I have about 3-4 really close friends and none of them know each other so I sort of have a way to spread myself out in different ways. But at the same time most of them don't live anywhere near me, so I only get certain amounts of time to see each of them. I think it makes it hard making new friends that way, because I'm no-longer used to hanging out with a heap of people at one time. I did it fine in high school, got a long with everyone, didn't have enemies (that I know of Razz), but now, if I find just one person I'm happy. Though I do manage to make quite a few online friends so that fills the gaps a bit Razz

I find myself laughing at really religious people. I know it's wrong and I don't want to deny them what they believe in, that's fine with me they have a right to believe in whatever they want. But I have to laugh at some of the things they say to non-religious people. My sister goes to a catholic university and because we're not catholic (or religious) all her friends keep telling her that they'll pray for her soul or telling her to stop reading vampire/wiccan novels because it'll damn her soul. And she comes home telling us these stories and we just sit there laughing so hard...it's hilarious.

I always prefer sentimental stuff. Only you know your guy so try to appeal to his interests and passions, but still not something horrid that would be a nightmare for you. Make a collage or something creative? Or take the opportunity to go out and have some fun--try a new or different place or old and favorite place you dont regularly have a chance to go too. If you want something not expensive- rent a movie, cook or order his favs , make a card.

It's a tough situation that vday is the day his father passed away. Respect his wishes, if he wants to do something mellow don't force him to go out or anything. But, i reckon he will need and be grateful for your company and comfort on that day.

I completely agree with Tasha on this

and Thanks girls Smile I do feel tons better. And I agree with you about religion. I used to go to Church and all but I was never one of those who looked down to others and all. In fact thats one of the reasons why i stopped going. I hate how hypocritical they all seem to be. At least at the Church I went to it seemed that way.

Making friends online is so much easier. I'm not the kind of girl to go up and just start talking to people. I'm pretty shy and quiet around ppl I don't know. When your friends with ppl online its different. you can talk and be yourself without really worrying about anything.

awww cyber group hug! LOL

I was raised Catholic. I even went to Catholic school until high school. My mom is not religious nor catholic. My dad is Catholic- twice , maybe 3 times a year lol . But they still felt since they were financially able to put me in catholic school i should be raised with that and make the decision myself if i wanted to pursue it. I love religion- what it's supposed to represent. But like you Wilda, i couldn't stand my church nor find one i could. Do you believe some Churches around me, you have to become a member and show them your taxes and they determine how much money you MUST donate to the Church based on your income. That's completely absurd.

I'm not shy. But, i choose to be reserved. In school and when going out, i have no trouble talking to ppl and stuff like that. In fact, i made a new friend simply while outside smoking a cig. lol. But since i've been burned by friends many many times i'm skeptical of people. Since most of my time is in school, i have all semester to get to know people. And at the end of the term if i want to be friends with them, we are. I have several people i've know for two years in school- but we are just associates, not friends. I much prefer my few selected very good friends to a bunch of people. And i love sites like these and talking to ya'll. I heart you all very much!

I'm so shy around new people. All my close friends wouldn't get why people call me shy because I can continuing talking for hours on end, but around new people I just can't open up.

Ugh, those churchs sound terrible.

Thats how I am. Loud around ppl I'm comfertable with but shy around ppl I don't know. My friends used to say I was the shyest yet the loudest at the same time...if thats even possible lol.

As for those Churches I don't even know how to respond to that. Thats about as low as they can get...

and I heart you guys too. It's nice talking to people who understand and are they even if it's only online Smile

Kim knows the future! LOL

Oh that hair cut sounds lovely. I need a haircut but I've been protesting. ALL the salons want to charge me atleast 50 bucks for just a washing set and a cut because my hair is pretty long. I was tempted to chop some off myself and THEN get a haircut...lol

Smart move about the crowds. Enjoy your night! I'm celebrating indoors. I normally hate flashy couples, and it's so much worse on Vday. I much rather stay indoors.

Actually, my V-day plans now consist of watching the Winter Olympics.

Lol, yes I could give you future tips if you want...except I don't think they'd travel across continents.

I usually get bored of sports, I'm not very big on the sport thing. But the Olympics (both winter and summer) I love. The summer one's get annoying sometimes, but the winter ones are really exciting. I've got a friend who almost made it into the winter olympics and one of her friends was in it...so I was hoping she'd do alright...but she didn't make it into the finals Sad

It's not that i despise sports... it's just the length of them i don't like. 3 hours and +... Rolling Eyes I have a short attention span..lol.

Oh no, i hope your friend doesn't give up and keeps trying. Maybe next time she will make it to the finals :hopeful:

They charge me more for my haircuts too Tasha. I paid roughly $50 just for the shampoo cut and blow dry. She told em it was b/c my hair is so long (mid back) but its worth it.

My night was blah we decided to eat at home and by the time we got to the theater The Lightning Thief was sold out. And I didn't ant to wait 2 hours for the next show. I was sooooo mad lol i ended up in bed at 10:30 but back up at 11:45 cause my son started screaming. So I stayed up with him and at 12:15 he started throwing up then 2 hrs later my daughter joined in. I only got asbout 30 mins of sleep and here it is almost 5:30am. What a wonderful V-day...

I'm the same way about sports. I'll watch it for a little while but then my mind wonders somewhere else. I just can't stay focused on any kind of sport for a long period of time. Thankfully my husbands dislikes watching sports even more than i do lol

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Thanks Tasha. They are just now starting to feel better. But they are barely eating but managing to drink enough to keep from getting dehydrated. I only got about 3 hrs of sleep last night but I'm haning in there. Hopefully tonight they will sleep in their beds and allow me a full nights sleep or at least 6 uninterrupted hours lol.

Lol, glad their feeling better and good luck on getting some sleep. I just had a wicked long sleep. I fell asleep at 3am and slept till 1:30 pm. It was just so cold in my room. I think i had the window open just a little. We have two blankets because I'm a blanket hog. But, my boyfriend's blanket is warmer than mine so i was trying to unravel him so we could share but we was cocooned lol. So when he woke up i just grabbed all the blankets and went back to sleep for a few hours.

My V-day was so corny it was great. After we woke up and showered and stuff we hung out with my family for a few. They had a bbq, but we didn't eat that. I then gave him a card with the poem i wrote and the song to go with it and he loved it, he almost cried. Then he was mad ( in a good way) because i schemed so much in getting HIS friend to make the song and he wasn't even close in figuring out what I was doing. Then my bf went to the store and bought popeyes for dinner. Lol. Since he doesn't like alcohol he used Welch's grape juice for his champagne glass and I used vitamin water. We did the corny trying to feed each other. lol. Then we just had a movie marathon. He did not play ONE video game all day. I was so happy. He's making up for it today. He's been in my brother's room playing video games since he woke up lol. My brother also got me roses which was sweet. But, i'm not a flower girl. I much prefer a single rose if anything. Not a dozen. lol. I almost always break up the roses, put rose petals in books, photo albums or i dry them out for my collection of dead roses. Lol i guess that's one of the morbid habits that stuck with me.
