| Is it just me or half the new YA books coming out about the theme. Went to the book store the other day and so many books tht I picked up had the theme coming through. I know it goes back to the dawn of writing. I guess the Twilight phenomen started a new of the theme. VA has got it too. Looking for something different for the near future. Suggestions? | |

| So i went to jump and reply to this with suggestions for books but stopped because i realized almost all the books i read, YA or not, have some sort of forbidden love themed. I guess i never noticed because i love me my romance. | |

| I just finished reading John Flanagan"s the ranger's apprentice...it's a series. I just read the first book about to start on the second. No forbidden love theme here. Now, im not one to really like the fiction scifi adventure books.. but this one is really good and has me addicted. It's had sort of mid evil setting with castles and knights and horseback and all that. And the novel focuses on a special set of children who are orphans and wards to the castle and when they come of age ( 15) they are apprenticed to different craft masters. It written really good which surprised me and it's not too scifi so still has that realistic feel, and too much action/adventure to overwhelm you. It's the perfect blend and a good read. | |

| I wonder what would people say, about if they have to hear about Aphrodite's cases with Love?[Aphrodite, as in, the Olympian Love Goddess and Aeneas's immortal mum?] | |

| You know I've never realized all the books I've been reading all have forbidden love in them. It's always been a popular subject though I guess. I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for something that isn't about forbidden love lol | |

| No one has replied to this in a while but I realized that unless there is some kind of romance or forbidden romance, I typically don't get too interested in the book. Love is WAY more fun to read about than tragedy and death. | |

Actually, what's better than just love is love *AND* tragedy and death!! Most of my favorite books have it all (VA, Hunger Games, BDB... I could go on). Of course in most cases they focus less on the death and more on the romance. | |

| The Darkest Powers Trilogy doesn't really have a forbibben love theme from what I've red so far. There really isn't much talk about love at all. Just survival. | |

| Without love, a book seems to have no meaning to me. Although. I guess I am probably a hopeless romantic lol. I live for love! | |

| I think the author of the Trilogy I mentioned might be saving it for the final book becaus eI kind of sense there might be a connection between two of the characters but neither one of them know how to handle it. | |

| Has anyone noticed the other theme that seems to be heavy in young adult books? All of them have some character that doesn't die for a reason like being a vampire or immortal or something. They are all fairly dark. | |
