| OMG! I just read that VA was banned in TEXAS, US!!! (so far only one county) I feel so bad for the Texas fans! here is a link to more information: ( It is under 'I'm with the banned') http://blue-succubus.livejournal.com/I would move out of Texas... or I would go other places, buy the books and read them there. I have one question- WHY would they ban VA?!?!?! I am sooooooo glad I live in Florida!!! The Great Sunshine State! | |

| I remember reading about that on RM's facebook. It's sad that any book is banned. I'm trying to look at it in a positive light... banning the book will only give it more publicity and make people want to read it more u know? I wonder banning a book in a state- does that affect ordering it via internet? | |

| I hope not.. those poor Texans. At least it was only one county... Hopefully it does bring some publicity but not the whole world's attention- in case it is banned in more places... | |

It's not like VA has been banned in ALL of Texas. It was only one town, and a pretty damn small one at that. I'm a Texan, and I'd never heard of Stephenville before in my life until the news that VA was banned in the schools there. I personally think it's stupid to ban books from anybody. It really shows how ignorant these people are. But it's not like VA has been banned from every store in Texas. And it's not like it isn't available anywhere else. It's only unavailable to kids in school libraries. I'm sure they could go pick up a copy of VA at a Walmart or a Target. Hell even Best Buy carries them now. - RandD4ever wrote:

Move out of Texas? That's a little harsh don't you think? Just because one stupid school district decided to ban a book? Like other schools around the country don't ban books? Yeah, right. And why would you feel bad for Texans? Yeah I feel bad for those kids in Stephenville, at least the ones that rely on their school library to read books. But they'll still be able to find it online and in stores, like I said. You guys are all generalizing that all Texans feel the way Stephenville does. Which is incredibly wrong. I mean, RM even had signings here. 3 of them this year in fact. There was one in Houston, one in Austin, and one in Irving. I attended the one in Houston, and lemme tell you, I could barely even see her there were so many people. So don't go around *feeling bad* for Texans. We still have VA here. And we like it too. And WHY would they ban VA? Probably because it has sexual content, language, drug use, and violence. As well as an inappropriate relationship between a minor and an adult, who also happens to be her teacher. I'm not saying it's a good thing VA was banned, because it's just a book. It's not like RM intended young people to model themselves after her characters. There's a reason it's called fiction. However, I can understand why it would be banned.

| I know but , no offense, I am not a big Texas fan to begin with ( my grandparents lived up there for a while and we would visit them often.)
I know that VA has all those things in it but they and the characters, atmosphere, plot and well everything in the book is what makes it soooooo GOOD though.
Really?? Best Buy carries them?? Huh... That's news...
I thought they had banned the book from all stores an libraries... I didn't do too much research. I guess I am more surprised than anything because it is a book designed to entertain teens. How come twilight wasn't banned? It has sex, reckless immature actions and violent decapitations...

That doesn't have anything to do with what we're talking about. But whatever, you're entitled to your opinion. Also, I don't think school districts are able to discourage what can be sold in stores. And, yes, I've been to two different Best Buys around here, and have seen VA in both. FYI, they ban books in Florida for stupid reasons too.

| The novels must have been banned, because Rose is of Middle-Eastern Roots!T_T
I guess it's best to stick with Gundam 00, for now, if we need our fix in protagonists of middle-eastern roots!

Or is the real reason for the banning because the Series ends up showing Incestual Romance between Christian and Lissa? I highly doubt that the books were banned in that school district for those reasons. I think it was more for sexual content and magical content. Plus in VA Lissa was a cutter . I think that played a significant influence into the decision. Not to mention problem the student teacher relationship probably made some parents outraged.

| Seriously, the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray had a cutter named Ann Bradshaw, whom while she isn't as fun to stare at as Lissa is, is really just as mentally screwed as Lissa is, yet you never hear the Gemma Doyle trilogy get banned at all, do you?Apparently the trilogy has far more Bad-@ssed, not to mention actually good role-models, as opposed to twilight's sequels, yet they knew to respect the trilogy, at least, so what gives with V.A?The fact it has a real spine, that twilight failed to develop, correctly? Wouldn't the banning just back-fire on them all, in the end, anyway? | |

| It's just censorship which occurs everyday everyplace. Harry Potter series was banned in places. Even Twilight. I was censored in highschool. I'm not saying it's fair or right. But if people really want to read, they will seek it out.. .no matter what a school district says. It's really just about politics. Not about why one book is banned or censored or anything isn't because truthful every book could face being censored or banned in certain places. It's always a risk. | |

| I did recall the Potter-World novels being wrongfully accused of devil worshipping, when really, that's what the twilight sequels have done, so well.I guess we are more blind than we realized, in a way. | |

Funny, because i thought twilight was engaging in devil worship, after the 1st novel.

At least anyone in their right minds should know better than to accuse the Percy Jackson And The Olympians fan-base of trying to restart Devil Worship, or anything like that[if anything, the Pagans and Christians benefit most from it, really, as at least some things in the P.J.O novels would read like a potential boon for the Olympian Tales, in all the right ways, anyway!]i just hope that the P.J.O fans could stick together when 'The Lightning Thief' movie comes out, and even more, i just hope the movie could actually be a good movie, with at least remotely decent enough acting from all the cast, at least, so the sequels could be done better than the Potter-World + Twilight sequels.

| The Action and Plot-Twists are meant to be better than twilight's, for the most part[including the kombat scenes!]far better, anyway, as i won't even deny that P.J.O, for the most part, flat-out beats out V.A, in terms of kombat, at least. I hope that's not rude of me to say it, because Vampire Academy managed to do some rights, in my eyes, at least. That said, if House Of Night done anything right at all, they brought a Goddess of the Ancient Olympian tales in the series, known as Nyx, the Night Goddess[so that's why we couldn't find out what she was doing in P.J.O, but how does that explain the Love-Goddess's two namesakes?] | |

Really? At the very least, Nyx is the grandmother of Morpheus, the God Of Dreams, Lana, and i wonder if she would be mentioned in the world of the Olympians, at all, really.Nyx is said to be even mightier than Zeus, the Olympian Sky God, even.
