The thing that bothered me to most about BP was that it didn't really go anywhere. In the end, Rose is pretty much in the same place she began in.

I was slightly disappointed that Dimitri wasn't dead. I mean I really like Dimitri as a character but it seems like it's too late for that happily ever after. I mean if Rose does succeed in bring Dimitri back, will it really be the same. Dimitri has always been seen as the character that would do whatever he could to help others, and if he returned back to normal with the memories of killing innocent people, would he be able to handle it? I mean there would have to be some sort of mental trauma associated with that. Also would he even want to be turned back? would he be grateful for it? If Rose does manage to bring him back, he won't be the same Dimitri from the first three books. That would be really unrealistic and if he did come back, with out a problem and him and Rose have the perfect ending, well that would be a bit of a cop-out in my opinion.

I kind of think that's the point that it didn't go anywhere. It was a way for Rose to realise that she can't do things alone, she needs to be with people who can help her through her problems. She spent the majority of the first 4 books pushing her problems aside and attempting to solve them by herself. But by the end of BP she's come to realise that there are people in her life that she needs and who will do almost anything to protect her, just like she would do for them.

I've had those same thoughs. Though I kind of do want Dimitri and Rose have their happily ever after, and therefore have Dimitri be saved; I don't think he'd enjoy it all that much....not unless his memory is wiped or something, which I don't think they can do.

I really want Dimitri and Rose to have a life like she does when she goes into a trance because of Avery. If Dimitri goes back to normal I don't think he will be his old self. Even if his strigoi memories went he would know that he had killed. He would be too overwhemled by the guilt of killing.

ok..
at the end of the book i was really confused.
i dont like the fact that dimitri(forgive me if i spell things wrong) wrote a note and gave the stake to her.. im kinda wondering how he even did it.
but after rose staked him, i thought, "its probably gonna be over.." but not in the bad way. i want her to go to adrian.. i think they would be great together.. even though i love dimitri.. i want him to come back in the future after rose and adrian got together. Then roses feelings would collide.. ahh.. new book. she would have to choose.. but not over lissa or dimitri. over the two guys she loved most.. and there would be alot of drama. Shocked
I also dont like the fact that roses mom was all over lissa and stuff too.. it just seemed unatural.
but now with the positive, it was very compelling, i read it in two days.
i just was so dissapointed with rose and how she was acting when she became dimitri's, her time wasnt divided into day, it was divided into "Dimitri, and No-Dimitri"
i'm just glad she got out of that mess.
Im excited(and sad) about christian and lissa. i loved them together.. and i still want them together.. but this drama between them is exciting.
i also loved how lissa was jealous of jill, thinking christian liked her.. [and how she used jill again in the story.]

i would give this book a bravo, as long as the series is gonna be finished in a way it should be.
Smile
but a new book better come out soon.
itll kill me!

I read the entire book from cover to cover in one day so in my opinion I would have liked it to be a little longer. I completely freaked out at the end!!!!! affraid .... I was completely stunned. Dimitri really is a badass. But even though ciffhangers always manage to get me really hyped up about the next book I don't like them because it doesn't feel like the book ends, just more like the end of a soap opera tv show. Otherwise I thought the beginning was a bit dragged out but from there on in I was hooked. Apart from food and sleep I couldn't tear myself away from the book. (which means it ended all to quickly for me No ). I want Dimka to come back because I have fallen in love with his character but at the same time that feels a bit fake, kind of like a cheesy fairytale ending. Plus it would be really cute for Rose and Adrian to be together. All I know is that the day that SB comes onto the shelves I will buy it!

What do you guys think?

lizzyvamp1901, that sorta mistakes (the number of sisters) happened before. Like when Rose resists the urge to start a fight with Jesse in class and then later she talks about it as if she did actually fight.

Anyways, about the book: I loved it! I don't know about you, guys, but just being back among these characters was awesome enough for me to want to keep reading. I love Rose, she's simply an awesomesauce character, just having the story told by her her makes me glee. I love Adrian to pieces - which is why I hated the part where he was holding Avery's hand, I couldn't stand that girl from the very start. (That doesn’t mean I want a happy ending with him and Rose, I just like him and wish he’d get his own happy ending.) I'm sorry about Christian's absence but I'm sure things will get better in the next books. I dunno, I just love Richelle's universe so much that I was absolutely thrilled to be back there.

And the book didn't seem half as boring as I'd expected. Hell, I didn't even get bored by the long stay at the Belikov's. It somehow made sense, I enjoyed it. And I knew she'd move on to more adventurous happenings so I surprisingly found myself being very patient. The Dimitri encounter was, again, incredible from beginning to end (as well as constant heartbreak, from beginning to end), that man should be witchcrafted into existence, he's way too awesome to be imaginary. He was perfect as a Strigoi and he was believable. I agree with everyone here saying that it was obvious for him to be evil, he was Strigoi, wasn’t he? I really can’t understand why so many people disliked him in this book, would a sappy Strigoi make any sense? It would be Meyer-style. I actually think this is much more interesting than what I'd actually hoped for, which is Mason having lied/having mistaken and him not really being Strigoi. Although, I also wonder how "resurrected" Dimitri is gonna deal with all the murders on his conscience. But he can manage, he has Rose.

I see nothing wrong with Dimitri being saved (by Spirit or whatever). I think it’s no more “cliche” than the fact that, from all those people that fought in the mine, it was Rose’s secret love who was neither saved nor killed, yet turned! And after they'd just gotten laid. So while we're at it, why not go through with the cliche and give us a Goddamn happy ending? And I think it’s obvious that he will be saved, all the clues lead to it. RM wouldn’t have written in a solution and a glimpse of hope just so that she could dismiss it in the next books. AND WHY IS EVERYONE SORRY THAT HE’S NOT REALLY DEAD??? FFS!!! If RM somehow kills him (although I doubt it), I’m blaming you, people! (that's a joke, in case someone can't tell)

As for Rose being a blood whore, that was also believable. To me it made her seem more real, I guess. I mean, she did love him and she isn't a robot with no feelings. It would have been much more unrealistic if she hadn't hesitated or fallen for him at all. She too has weaknesses and her reaction was understandable. I think she put up enough of a fight before and after the bites to suit her Rose-esque character.

The Avery storyline was kinda random, I wish there would have been someone more important making Avery do those things, but it was still interesting and a good reason for all of them to come together again. The clash at the end, with Rose in Lissa's head (with Lissa aware of it!) and Adrian joining in was simply epic. Actually, Christian and Eddie were missing (where the hell is Eddie?? RM seems like she simply forgot about him) so it wasn't as epic as it could have been, but I still loved it. And you can't tell me that Avery looking straight at Rose through Lissa's eyes didn't raise the hair on your back. That was a creeptastic moment right there!

Anyways, I didn’t suspect Abe was Rose’s dad and no, I’m not slow at all, as someone here implied. I just didn’t give it much thought. And therefore was surprised. Which was nice.

I just watched Richelle on Youtube reading her excerpt from the next book (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viGbmrLk_s0) and, I must say, if this is two thirds into the book it means this is one long uneventful book. Rose seems to be in Court, waiting for orders from the queen. WHY IS SHE NOT ON DIMITRI SEARCH-AND-RESCUE MISSION??? Dammit, Mead!!

Rant over. Thank you all very much.

P.S. I dunno if anyone mentioned before but the Russian nickname for Dimitri is actually Mitea or Mitenka. Although, I'll admit, Dimka sounds better. Now I'm really done. And whoa, sorry for the ginormous post!

So I re-read Blood Promise and about the stake with how Dimitri sent it in the mail well in the book it does say that it had very neat handwriting on the front which I'm guessing wasn't Dimitri's since she knew by the handwriting that the note was from him.
Which makes me think that yes he did have a human help him compulsion is a very powerful thing or perhaps Oleg found him and Dimitri simply wrote a letter and told Oleg to send it out to Rose Hathaway at such and such address it's not such a far out thought. If Dimitri got staked and it didn't go all the way in yes it would hurt like hell but wouldn't kill him...we don't even know if he fell into the water Rose just assumed he did.
