It was dark.
I knew that for sure.
I also knew that Lissa, Christian and Dimitri would be worried about me.
The last thing I remember was walking with them in the halls of the college to Lissa and Christian's first lessons of the day... Meaning me and my boyfriend would be seperated until they had the same lesson. Which sucked majorly.
"See you later Rose." Christian says with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah..." I mutter. Dimitri looks at me worriedly with one eyebrow raised.
"What?" I ask. He shakes his head smiling and leans down to kiss me.
Mmmm.... Passionate and blissful.
"Hey, little dhampir." Adrian's voice says, coming behind us.
Dimitri and I both groan.
"Hey..." I say after Dimitri releases me and walks with Christian to his class.
"Can I talk to you?" Adrian asks me.
"Err....Can't. Lissa has a lesson." I say in a stern voice.
He rolls his eyes.
"Lissa will be safe in class." He mutters.
"Fine.... but be quick."
Adrian leads me away from the halls and outside.
Something smacks me on the side of my head and my world turns black.
"Wake up little dhampir." Adrian mutters.
I groan and open my eyes, wondering where I am and why the hell I am chained to a chair with no light at all.
"What the hell? Where am I?!" I say through clenched teeth.
"Easy... You're in a basement. Away from anyone. No one can find you here." He replies in a matter-of-fact tone.
Adrian, not being himself comes closer to me.
Something about him.... seems.... off.
He leans closer, his fangs by my throat. He licks my skin with his tongue, making me shiver.
"Adrian? What are you doing?" I ask him, my voice a little hoarse and fierce.
His fangs bite into my throat, making me scream in pure agony.
He stops after what seems like forever and I cough, feeling weak. My head drops.
That's when I realise that his endorphins were too strong for a Moroi but just right for a Strigoi.
"Adrian....why?" I ask weakily.
"Because Belikov took you from me and being a Strigoi means I don't need to feel horrible because of Spirit." He answers me stiffly.
"Is that it? God... Adrian, you don't see Lissa doing this!" I say fiercely, snapping my head up to look at him.
"I'm not my cousin, Rose." He says in that same cold voice.
I call him a word that would probably get me expelled if I was still in school.
"God...." I roll my eyes at him.
"I need you Rose." Adrian says coldly.
"The fuck you do... You need me to kill you." I say fiercely.
"No, I need you to be with me. I want you." He growls.
"You want me? I'm with Dimitri! Back off and let us be!" I say between clenched teeth, trying to control my anger but failing to do so.
"Hold still." He suddenly says with a more fiercer edge to his voice. My body stiffens a little in response.
"What ..."
He suddenly has an envelope in his hands and a pair of scissors. His hand with the scissors moves forward and cuts a bit of my hair off that's lose and was hanging over my right eye.
"You bastard!"
"Shut up dhampir." He mutters.
He walks over to me with a boring plain knife with a wooden handle and he presses it against my throat.
"Adrian, stop this!" I say between clenched teeth, my eyes narrow slightly.
He ignores me and gets his phone out, knife still at my throat. I hear him press the button for loud-speaker.
"Hello Gaurdian Belikov." Adrian says, his voice twisted and cold.
"Have you seen Rose, Adrian?" someone shouts, not sounding like Dimitri but instead it's Lissa.
"Hmm.... Maybe..." Adrian muses.
"You were the last to see the Queen's personal Gaurdian. Do you know where she is or not?" Dimitri snaps, sounding business-like yet also worried at the same time.
Adrian leans down to me with a massive smirk on his face, flashing his fangs. I glare at him.
He leans closer, nuzzling my neck and his fangs break my skin.
I scream and I hear Dimitri swear in russian on the phone. I hear Lissa crying in the background.
"Roza...." Dimitri says my name in russian and my heart skips a beat.
Adrian removes his fangs from my throat, licking his lips.
"Mmmm, Dimitri, you have to awaken as a Strigoi to try her... Oh wait.... you have." Adrian says darkly amused.
"Bastard!" I shout at him. He chuckles and grabs ahold of my throat with his left hand. I struggle for breath.
"Dim-itri!" I gasp. I don't hear much on the other end of the phone now.
His hand moves from my throat to my mouth tightly so I shut up.
I move my hands a little but it's no use. The chains are too tight.
"Shhhh, little Dhampir." Adrian mutters.
A few days past and the blood loss has taken alot out of me.
I'm too weak to fight back now.
Adrian comes back in the small room after running a few days errand and..... he's got moroi and two more strigoi with him this time.
I groan and he smiles at me, flashing his fangs. I shiver in response.
Adrian ties up the two moroi and they both look at me with their eyes wide.
Adrian and the other strigoi both leave the room.
"Pssst, you're Rose Hathaway, right? People are looking for you at the court." The girl says.
"Shh, the strigoi will hear." The other moroi snaps. A young boy, three years younger than Christian, with blonde hair, freckles, blue eyes and a bad attitude, wearing a red top and blue jeans with green converses.
I ignore the both of them and the little device attached to my belt lights up, indicating that I have low blood pressure as well as activating the GPS, allowing any other Guardian to see my location - a new device that comes in handy in situations like this.
"Is she dying?" The girl's voice says.
"I think so...." The boy says.
They both gulp at the same time and then silence.
An hour passes and there is suddenly a loud bashing sound upstairs and the sound of gun shots.
The familar scent of after-shave hits me as my vision blurs around the edges. I am just able to see a fuzzy Dimitri run down the stairs towards us and Christian, my mother, Eddie and Lissa behind him. I am just able to hear what they are saying...
"Shit.... Rose!" Eddie says. My mother tells him to shut up.
"The moroi are free. Looks like Rose was here before them." She says in a matter-of-fact tone.
"She needs blood." Dimitri says, his voice filled with deep concern and a little relief. His relief would probably be more strong if I wasn't in such a bad state.
"Dim....itri..." I manage to choke out.
I fill the chains and ties loosen fully and his arms going around me protectively, lifting me up and cradling me against his chest.
"It's ok, Roza, you're safe." he says soothingly.
I groan a little and try to get down. Dimitri stops me easily and then my world fades, going white.
I hear screams and my name being shouted but I can't respond, I can't move and I can't feel my own body.
A few several minutes past and I swear I could feel something pulling me back to my body as well as someone healing me...
Omg......Lissa.
My eyes flutter open and my vision turns bright and slightly cloudy and I see chocolate-brown hypnotic eyes gazing down at me with deep relief. I manage to smile.
"Dimitri!" I sing. He laughs a little and I realise that I'm laying on the floor with him holding me, supporting my head.
I look around and see Lissa with Christian...
I don't even need to look at her to know what she's feeling.
I'm shadow-kissed again.
Lissa's emotions flood my mind; relief, worry, sadness and very drained.
I get up slowly and walk to her. Dimitri hovers behind me in case I fall- which I don't.
"Hey...." I say.
Lissa looks at me and gives me a massive hug. I grin at her and hug her tightly back.
"I'm shadow-kissed again, Liss." I whisper to her.
She pulls back and looks shocked, then smiles and hugs me tighter.
"They have their bond back?" Christian asks.
"Yes, seems so." my mother says.
I look at her, pulling away from Lissa, walk to my mother and give her an unexpected hug.
She hugs me back slowly.
When I get to Dimitri he grabs hold of me and presses his lips to mine. I close my eyes and kiss him back tenderly.
Someone coughs and the bad feeling in my stomach returns.
We all turn and see Adrian blocking the exit.
Dimitri and my mother move in front of me and the moroi.
I move and step between them and Adrian.
I grab Dimitri's stake from his belt and run towards Adrian.
He sees me coming, grabs hold of me by the throat and slams me against a wall.
With stake still in hand, with my other hand I elbow him and knock him away, giving me a few seconds to plunge the stake into his heart.
I manage to strike him in the face a couple of times before he grabs ahold of me yet again.
I squirm, trying to break free.
Adrian lets out a chuckle, looks at me with cold eyes and then looks at the others in the room.
His eyes narrow on Dimitri.
"Good for you to show up, Belikov." he says coldly.
Dimitri grunts and clenches his fists. My mother glares at Adrian, her eyes only showing that she's really pissed off.
I elbow Adrian again as he catches fire.
Christian.
Adrian growls and snarls, trying to pat himself down.
I smirk and take my chance, tackling him to the floor.
I hear my mother telling Dimitri to back off for now and a massive headache suddenly appears, putting pressure on my skull.
"Ahh, fuck!" I groan as the ghost pop everywhere with those little annoying shapes and skulls appearing around me like they did before but this time no deaths have occured for it to happen.
The ghosts surround Adrian and the fire vanishes.
Lissa moves then and before I could do anything; she stakes him in his heart, a bright glow escapes and moves around us from the stake and Adrian flies backwards into a wall. Lissa stays on top of him until the light fades completely and she can see that Adrian is no longer Strigoi.
