| I didn't really know where to post this but since it's about books I figured this is the best place.
I am considering getting a Nook color from Barnes and Noble. Normally I prefer books to ebooks but with a nook, you can take all your books with you wherever you go. Plus instead of rushing to the store to get a book the day it comes out, I can easily buy it and download it from home. Now the books I really love, I would end up buying them in book form anyway. But sometimes it's hard for me to get to a store the day books are released and some books, I'm too impatient to wait. I have a couple of ebooks on my computer that I bought from barnesandnoble.com but I'm not a big fan of reading them on my computer.
Anyways, I would love some input on these kind of devices whether it be nooks, kindle or whatever you use. Let me know if you like them or prefer them over books and if it's worth buying.

Hi Wilda For the last couples of months all I can think is to get a kindle, right now I have the kindle app installed on my MAC and like you say is easier to buy a book and have it in like 2 seconds.. but my husband said to me to compare the amazon kindle to other devices and see wich one is better.. I did a lot of research and at the end I was totally in to buying a kindle.. but then my husband said to me... "ok so you are going to pay like 200 euros for a black and white device that only can buy books from amazon .. I dont get it!!! maybe we can spend more for more quality like an iPAD, so you can have the kindle app installed there.. you can put all your music, photos and even can install other bookseller apps.. also you can put some movies so when travelling you can use this device for everything also surfing the internet.." so Im waiting till xmas to buy it.. if my little consulting pay up!! either way i will wait till i can buy an iPAD.. | I've considered buying an ipad but they are double the price and I get what you are saying about only being able to buy ebooks from that store. And not all the stores have every single book available as an ebook which just plain sucks. I think I will just keep the nook app on my computer for when I want to buy ebooks and just buy all the other books. I don't travel enough to really buy an ebook reader. Oh yeah and for the price of Nook or ipad, I could ahve bought a crapload of books instead. Thanks for helping | |

| Idk. It just annoys me. If I sit at the computer for too long at a time, it hurts my eyes but I guess I'd probably have the same problem with the Nook.I'd rather have the book but the Nook allows you to take more books when you go somewhere. | |

| so the gossip is my brother wants to buy me a kindle for christmas.... any thoughts or knowledge about it? is it good? I doubt he will buy it because i don't think he knows it costs so much but i just want to do a background check on the thingy. I really dont like electronically reading books but I can't read much anymore because im never home and i can only read at night but I can't have the light on cause the hubby sleeps and seriously i can't find those book lights anyway. | |

| You can get the booklights at walmart, any bookstore or you can order it online. I know barnesandnoble.com has them cause I was looking at the a few days ago. As for the kindle, i no nothing about it but if I get one, I plan on getting the NookColor from Barnes and Noble. Like you, I'm not a fan of reading them electronically but if you're gone more than you are home, I think it would be worth the buy. | |

| Im HAPPY!!! my husband made me a pre-xmas present.. guess what? my iPad. I already installed the kindle app and iBooks.... LOOOOOOVE IT!!!, the kindle app has the oxford dictionary so for me is GREAT because sometimes I have to search one word in wikipedia to fully understand the sentence, and all i have to do is click the word in the ebook and i have inmediately the meaning in the bottom of the page!!!

| So turns out my brother DID buy me the kindle. I personally would of preferred the nook color. But honestly? I love the kindle. It doesn't look all electronically. It doesn't resemble reading off a computer screen or ipad or phone or laptop. It looks very much like font on a paper page. I said a couple of times its kind of like an etch and sketch. The words just appear and disappear. And it does have a dictionary which is awesome. I find myself using it alot. At first it was out of the novelty of it, but then i found myself using it more and more often, even for words i knew the meaning of but couldn't put it into words .. u know what i mean. Like u understand the word but when asked to define it ur just like uhhhh. I've been reading it on it non-stop. I turned the wifi off and put a password on it so whenever u turn it on u have to enter the password. I did that because the kindle links to ur amazon account and u can buy books directly off the kindle store from ur kindle. So if u loose ur kindle whoever finds it can either buy a ton of stuff or de-register u and use their own account. So i'm paranoid i put a password on my kindle. And the battery is amazinggggg. I've been reading non-stop all day and the most battery i used is like 10percent of it. I put it to charge and in five minutes it was completely charged. The battery life is way good in my opinion.

| I have a kindle app on my iPad. I love it! It syncs with my iPod, droid, and pc, and I can bookmark favorite passages in favorite books. The reason I chose an iPad instead of an ereader is because I personally wouldn't get enough use out of an ereader. An iPad is good for lots of things. Frex, I'm on it on this site right now. Plus, there are many different ereader apps you can download. So if you find books on sale or super cheap from kindle, and you have a nook, you're SOL. Did you figure out what you wanted to get yet? I realize this topic was kind of old. | |
