| Ladies, I have a bunch of essays to do with school so I won't be online as much bc I'll be doing those.
I also will be away on Saturday and Sunday, and 3 weeks from today, I'll be in France on a school trip for 5 days, and so will not be online then. On the following Friday or Saturday, I'll be in London.
I'm not sure when I'll be back online for good, but I'll be checking up once in a while to see what's happening and what I've missed. If you would like my skype, msn, or e-mail address, please pm me and I'll get back to you ASAP. | |

| Subject: Trip to France/Belgium (part 1) Wed Oct 27, 2010 5:36 am | |
| Alrighty then ladies, this the complete report on my little trip to France/Belgium. It's a long one, but please be patience with me and the massive thing, thanks Day 1 We were on the bus for hours, but we stopped a few times on the way to Dover, for the ferry to cross to Calais, France. Our bus driver was called Kelvin and the second he got on that microphone, the group (31 of us under 16 yrs of age), that we'd protest if he wasn't ours. We reached Dover at 2:00pm and then left for France 2:30pm. It took us an hour and a half to reach Calais, so we reached the at 4pm and another 2 hours until we reached Lille, where our hotel was. Dinner was at 6:30pm and it wasn't exactly what we wanted to eat when we got there. Before we got off the bus, Mme. Williams gave us a little speech saying that we had 30 mins to get ready for dinner and that we could do anything we like, talk, walk and I quote her own words 'fiddle'...awkward silence and then waves of laughing from all 31 of us! Starter: Pea soup with bits of the peas still in it and a bitter taste of butter. Main course: We were expecting stake and chips, like they'd said we'd be having, but instead we got a burger and chips, and the chips we'rent even that good! We all went to our own rooms again at least an hour later. I was sharing a room with too of my friends, and my French teacher (female) was next-door to us, while the history teacher (male) was in a room facing ours! Pupil wise, we had the worst room going, but teacher wise, my French teacher had the worst room going as she was sandwiched between two rooms with 2 sets of 3 girls in them! The three of us finally fell asleep about 12:00am but we got told off by Mme.Williams (French teach was was next door to us) for "shouting" while talking. Day 2 Woke up at 7:30am so we were all so very tired when we woke up! Went down for some food and what did I get, first thing from Mme.Williams, evils! She gave me evils b/c she had to tell us off for last night. After breakfast, we went on the bus and left for Ypres, Belgium. We first went to Artillery Wood, where the famous Welsh poet Hedd Wyn is buried. He was killed liked many others and there's a few pictures of his grave on my Facebook. We left there to go to a Welsh cemetery and it's called Caesar's Nose. Don't ask my why, but I have no idea why it's called that. We went to a few more memorials and then went to Ypres itself. On the way, we found out it was Mme.Williams' birthday that day, and we sang happy birthday on the bus to her. Before we got to Ypres, we went to a British trenches museum. It was really muddy but good. We then left off for Ypres and the first thing we did was spend our money in a Belgian chocolate shop. There was an offer that you'd get a choc bar and a little gold selection box for €10 then you'd get 1 free gift with it. If you did 2 choc bars, 2 little gold boxes, then you'd get 3 free gifts for €19,98. I went for the 3 free gifts. It started to rain after that, so many of us went under, like a thing archway outside corridor thing to leads to a massive church. We were there for ages and then we met up with the teachers and went to Flanders Fields museum thing nearby. After that, we went to get our dinner, which was salad for starters, chicken and chips for main, and then an ice-cream for dessert. We then left the restaurant to go under the Menin Gate and listen and watch the Last-Post where soldiers and some kids from different schools pay their respects in the memory of all those we were lost in the First and Second World War. They do this every night at 8pm on the dot, but the only night they never do this is Christmas, as the soldiers of the great wars never fought on Christmas day. We went back to the hotel in Lille, and then went to our rooms, had a shower and talked for a bit. Again, like the first night, we got told off. This time we got no evils as she couldn't be bothered in doing so. | |
