| I finished Nevermore recently. I loved most of the book but then everything started to get really tedious and confusing toward the end. I put the book down for a few months but got really determined to finish it a few weeks ago. The ending was alright (after the confusing parts were over) and now I'm really looking forward to the next book!! I loved Isobel and Varen. lol They were so cute together. Though I did feel like some of the things that Isobel went through were pretty extreme overreactions. Her friends ditching her because of her acquaintance with Varen seemed really shallow and unfair, but things escalated so quickly that it was kind of hard to believe that anything like that could really happen. Though I was glad when Isobel started hanging out with Gwen because her other friends really sucked. In particular I thought Isobel's father had the most outrageous overreactions (i.e. not letting her drive, forbidding her to work with Varen, and his attitude in general...). But maybe it's just me because my dad isn't anything at all like her dad so I had a hard time relating to that. My dad is unbelievably chill. I got really excited when I realized how much of the Poe stuff was real. lol I wasn't a huge Poe fan before but I had read some of his poems and short stories. I think now I'm going to read some more. I think my absolute favorite thing about the book is the cover. Before you read it you just think it's a nice cover, and it is. It's a very pretty cover. But when I finally got to the end of the book and took another look at the cover... I was just blown away. lol I loved that Isobel was wearing the pink dress and that on the back you can see the ribbon she leaves with Varen. I just thought that was so cool. | |
