| Well, personally I think Rose needs to go after Dimitri. It would not only give her closure to what has happened but also it might reveal a way to save him. Also if they just completely forgot about Dimitri, and didn't go after him I feel like the connection that had been built up between Dimitri and Rose (starting from the first book) would just kind of be destroyed. And I mean there wouldn't be a ton of other interesting things to focus on otherwise for BP if Dimitri wasn't somehow involved...if I had to read a whole book solely about Lissa and her struggles I would probably get bored.
But that's just my view on it...

| I think it would be entirely out of character for Rose to stay and graduate and then go off to college and be Lissa's bodyguard. That's not her style. Not to mention what would Mead then write about? Rose just "wondering" what happened to Dmitri? I agree with the poster who said that if she stayed home, it would nullify the bond written between Rose and Dmitri. | |

| Rose definitely has to go after Dimitri. Anything else would just not do. It wouldn't make sense. Rose is IN LOVE with the man! He was her first, too! How could she just continue on like nothing in this situation? They were making plans for their future and for her to say, "Oh well, he's gone now, I guess I will follow my original plan of finishing school and becoming Lissa's guardian..." would just be wrong. | |

| Agreed. And I mean Rose has been putting up with Lissa and all her problems and crap for such a long time I think it's about time she do something for herself! It's not even something enjoyable... It's not like Lissa won't be protected. I was really annoyed with Lissa, it's like um ok your best friend might die looking for her true love and you are only concerned for yourself!?
Ugh. | |

Ugh. i agree lissa need to stop with the power and worry about rosa, i hated how in the end lissa wanted her to stay when along she should have been dealing with rosa

| Yeah, I mean maybe if Lissa had paid more attention to Rose earlier off then Rose would stay with Lissa, and they could get through it together or maybe nothing would have happened...
But she didn't, so now she's gotta deal.

| Rose staying behind and do nothing is just not her. She needed to go out and find what she needs.
As for Lissa, Rose would still be able to feel/see her through the bond thing. If something were to happen I'm pretty sure the academy has phones.

exactly. its not like theyre completely seperated. rose will still be in lissa's head all the time and lissa can send rose "messages" through her head.

| Although being able to sense lissa's feelings could be a bad thing because I think she is genuinely upset rose left and that's just the way it is. But constantly feeling lissa's sadness or anger could make rose feel even worse and make her mission/journey that much harder...
Or, I know this is unlikely but what if the bond starts to fade as they are apart? I mean if you think about it they have never really been separated ever since their bond was formed. For extended periods of time anyways.

| Was it ever mentioned in the books that Rose could "turn off" that ability to be in Lissa's head? I know that sometimes she had to concentrate really hard to go in there...and other times where Lissa was high on emotion the bond thing would come into Rose's head whether she wanted it or not. (Remember when Lissa and Christian were in that church loft and they were going to get it on? LOL!) You see, if Rose could turn off the bond, then she could concentrate on her mission to save Dimitri. | |

| I never got the impression she could turn it off. But I'll be curious about the effect distance has on the bond. | |

| i think that you might be. dimitri is a really important character in the books and if rose didn't go to find him then that would be really sad. also, what else would she do? if she doesn't go looking for dimitri then her life will be boring and she will always be sad | |

| ahaha I mean she could always find another guy, have a fling or something to that extent...
But I am almost 99% certain that there would be a massive amount of VA fans that would be rather upset and crying themselves to sleep...haha me being one of them.
...ok maybe crying themselves to sleep is a little dramatic.

| Nope, crying sounds just about on the money. Its what I did when I heard it (I listen to it on audio books) and I cried on the way home He has to be ok, the only way for him to ever return is that somehow Rose is able to either bring him back with her connection to the other world, Liessa and Adrian can somehow help OR Mason got it wrong and he's not been turned. that blond guy semed to know that Rose cared about him, he looked right at her as he was biting Dimetri, he had been tauting her about Leissa...he somehow knows her and I'm hoping that he's keeping Demitri alive hoping Rose will come looking for him. He's got something to prove too Rose so hopefully, maybe, praying he didn't kill Demitri and he's still alive. just has to be...Richelle can't just build us up to a love like tht and then kill him off....just can't. Killing Mason was enough, losing other guardians and teachers...please not Demitri too. | |

| Dmitri could be Strigoi and not pure evil. Their ability to work together, and their ability to be parents to Christian for a length of time, and my suspicion that they all answer to Victor lead me to believe that they can tame their inclinations if they want.
But yes, Lissa/Adrian would be the obvious fix. But Mead may want to challenge us more than that.

| yup i really think you are alone on that theory. I love Dimitri and if he dies... well...*sniff sniff* well I shall have to hurt someone.
Dimitri is one of the major characters from since the beginning of the series as the protagonist's captor to her mentor to her friend to her love. I mean... Richelle just can't kill him off after he played such a central role. He was well-known and respected by the whole community and they would listen occasionally to him. I wonder if Dimitri would become a spokesperson for the Strigoi community or something....
oh well... essa. | |

| hmmm, spokesperson ehhh? That would be interesting. If one cannot reverse being strigoi, and no one wants him to be killed, then maybe he could do good for the world by controlling his new kind...
I like it. | |
