Hello, charmers. I'm currently far too excited that I've found this forum! I've been an absolute Richelle Mead fangirl since she published her first book, and I do love the VA series quite a bit. It's nice to have a vampire series written by someone smart and witty, and VA delivers in spades. (It's also lovely to have someone writing who's not afraid of the sexy--which, obviously, is the situation going on here. Who's read Mead's Succubus series? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Woman knows how and when to turn up the volume.)
I haven't read Blood Promise yet, but I'm sure someday I'll get to a bookstore and curl up in the corner. I'll probably end up staggering out--I know Frostbite really knocked me for a six. I can't remember the last time I encountered an author with as much unapologetic courage as Mead. I mean, I was not expecting what happened to happen, to put it mildly (and vaguely). She puts her characters through a lot, but they can take it. I'm glad that there are stakes. (Oh, god, awful, awful pun. I can never resist those: it's a curse.) And myths. And Russia.
I'm just a senior in high school who plans to learn Russian and get better at the tango in the next few years. Somewhere in there, I'll probably publish a novel, if I ever chill out and stop frantically editing said manuscript. For the time being, I listen to lots of music and read lots of books (Haruki Murakami, Neil Gaiman, Jonathan Carroll, The Time Traveler's Wife, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, Youth in Revolt). I will have expansive discussions at the drop of a hat, and I hope to have fun here!
