| I figured there should be a thread like this on here. Anyway, does anyone on here read manga or watch anime? What are your favorites?
I'm gonna be lame and say honestly that my favorite mangas are Naruto and Hana Kimi. lol I just love Kakashi sensei!! And Nakatsu is like... my secret lover. Vagabond is also one of my favorites, even though it's like... epically long and I'm nowhere near finishing it in this lifetime.
As for anime... Samurai Champloo is my favorite. And Fullmetal Alchemist. And Death Note. And Haruhi Suzumiya.... and probably more. lol

| I was once a big manga/anime fan. As you can tell from my sig, I like Devil Hunter Yohko. Way back when I was in Uni, there were 2 videos available at the local Blockbuster. I loved both of them. I should see if there were more and I could find a means of watching them. I was a HUGE Sailor Moon fan! OMG, I had all kinds of stuff: posters, trading cards, tote bags, videos (I went to Chinatown and got subtitled videos), pencils/pens/erasers/sharpener/pencil case, loads of stuff! I just loved Sailor Moon!!! Another one I enjoyed was Lupin III. I got started on that when I was in Italy. I thought, "Oh good! A cartoon show. It's for kids, I should be able to follow along." Um...no. It's an adult anime about a guy who is a thief, and his friends, and his nemesis. Lupin is a brazen thief. He would send a note to his intended target saying, "Well I'm coming at x time to take your stuff. Don't bother calling the cops, they'll never catch me". Of course the bungling Inspector Zenigata would show up with a load of cops to try and prevent the theft. But they never succeeded. LOL! My brother had got me I think the whole collection of those on DVD for Christmas one year. Subtitled in English, spoken in Japanese. I used to also read "Maison Ikkoku". That was a fun little manga. It was about an apartment building. It starred this guy who was a university student and his crazy neighbours. He was also in love with I think it was his landlady. She was a widow from what I remember. I don't think their relationship went anywhere. As you can probably tell, I like the stories about people and relationships, maybe a bit of romance thrown in. I'm not all that big on the robot stuff. | |

| Yeah, I'm not very into the mech stuff either, but that doesn't necessarily mean I won't watch it. lol If I was ever interested in it I'd give it a try. Haven't found any that I like yet though.
I've honestly never heard of Devil Hunter Yohko. lol But I haven't watched a whole lot of anime. Japanese anime wasn't really something that played on tv where I grew up. Probably the only anime I knew of as a kid was Pokemon. I have mad love for Pikachu and Squirtle. lol And yeah, I saw an episode of Lupin once (at least, I think it was Lupin...?) and someone was getting it on. lol
I can't believe I forgot to mention Hayao Miyazaki!! Gah. Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are like my favorite movies!!!

| Yohko wasn't shown on TV here. I discovered it at the video store. I was into anime and thought, "hmm, that looks interesting, I'll try it." I saw it and enjoyed it.
Lupin is quite adult, so if you saw people 'getting it on' it's not a surprise.

| ^ Oh most likely! They don't seem to have the same hangups in Japan that they do here. Not that I need to see sex/mating. I don't. I've got a good imagination, I can fill in the blanks. But many an anime that you rent are not censored. The best example is Sailor Moon. They broadcast it in North America, and it was really censored. So much was cut to a) make it kid-friendly and b) to make it fit a half-hour timeslot. Granted, I didn't see sex in Sailor Moon (and I've seen almost every series), but there was nudity a'plenty - every time they transformed into sailor scouts. There was also a lesbian subtext. I didn't care for that theme, I preferred the love story between Usagi/Serena and Mamoru/Darien. And the series itself was just so beautifully drawn.
I think making VA and the Succubus series as anime/cartoon would be the best option. It solves the problem casting. The only thing they would need to worry about is who does the voices.

| I don't know why, but there's very few ladies in Anime that would come ANYWHERE CLOSE to Rose's descriptions, and even fewer of Middle-Eastern Roots, for that matter!
When i have to hear of Lissa Dragomir, for some reason or another, a part of my heart wanted me to weep for her, but i couldn't do that..these instances reminded me of the various instances of Princess Marina Ishmael of Azodistan, of the Gundam 00 series, except Lissa isn't of Middle-Eastern Roots!Their respective bodyguards, however, are of Middle-Eastern Roots, and one of them is a fully grown Middle Eastern Lady of a bodyguard, to boot! That was Ishmael's bodyguard..if only i could recall her name to save my life, since Rose was supposed to feel Middle-Eastern, to begin with!

| I find most anime girls look caucasian. They all have great big eyes. The guys? It all depends, but for the most part they look caucasian, too. I don't think it would be all that difficult to draw and paint a character's skin to look Middle-Eastern. I would think it's doable. | |

| I'm not that artistically inclined. I don't feel confident with my drawing skills. Especially not manga style drawing.
I was also rearranging my bookshelf (getting rid of stuff and moving stuff around) and I came across some copies of Ranma 1/2. Does anyone else remember this one? It was a guy who turned into a girl whenever he got hit with water. And if she got hit she would turn back into a guy. LOL! Cute!

My friends love that stuff and i'll watch a eposide or two of whatever stuff they follow when we hang out. Dont hate it...just not my cup of tea. I do love love Howl's moving castle i think it's called. My boyfriend watches one anime that i enjoy but i can't recall what it's called- some boxing anime. I'll get back to you on the name of it.

| I LOVE Naruto!! The manga, that is. I don't watch the anime much. If I do it's so that I can watch Kakashi sensei. Mostly I just read kakasaku fanfiction though. And Hana Kimi was the series that got me into manga!! The J-drama isn't as good as the manga series, but it's still funny to watch. Nakatsu is one of my absolute favorite characters ever. He's up there with Kakashi and Dimitri. | |

| You know vampire lovers should really check out Hellsing. Not the original that was made a while back. They re-made the series as an OVA it is really good. And I think that a lot of fans of Vampire Academy will like Vampire Knight. Have you heard of it? | |

You know I've heard of Vampire Knight and Hellsing, but I've never seen/read either of them. My cousin also told me about this anime called Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust which I later downloaded and then didn't watch... I couldn't really get past them calling dhampirs "dunpeals".

| Check out Vampire Knight. It has a vampire academy in it. I love Zero from that series. Actually now that I think about it, it has a very similar plot like the VA books not 100% but I recommend it.
Hellsing I love because it has some bad a*s vampires in it. I love Seras Victoria.

| I doubt its just Vampire Knight that Vampire Academy's similar to, but i should also ask that you add Code:Geass to the list, as well, seeing as how Code:Geass also happens to have massive eye-candy and a decent-to-good cast to like, as well. I want to see Rose Versus Kallen, or Lissa versus Shirley, now!!! | |

I tend to be confused by Vampire Academy, at times, too, so its mutual. It would help if you read the rest of the books. I know, Ashley, but at the same time, Vampire Academy would remind me of both Death Note and Code:Geass, in which one of the best parts of either series, worth mentioning, would be in two questions. One, which side has all the right cards? And two, which side will unleash the winning hand, first?
