Sorry I've been gone for so long, I kind of forgot about this place, but here is something I've been working on:
Elena is the current title, but I'm trying to come up with something else, also it is very very long (the length of a 10 page chapter)
Elena stood there, her straight, light brown hair covering her light blue eyes. The light pole she stood next to was basically the oldest thing in her hometown of Odale, Texas. The darkness the plagued her dreams was here and it was coming closer every second. Elena looked up for the moon, for the stars, but the sky was pitch black.
Elena held on to the pole for her life, thinking that the darkness would kill her if she was touched by it. The darkness surrounded the pole, coming no closer than where the light was, before Elena could thank god for her safety, the bulb inside the pole slowly dimmed, and the darkness came closer. Elena tried to cry out as the darkness completely engulfed her, but no sound came out.
Elena was in a church, or at least it looked like a church. She saw her mother and uncle sitting on the front row, her mother was crying, and he was comforting her. Elena wondered what was making her mother cried, but she looked and saw a coffin. She looked inside it and screamed when she saw a corpse.
Her corpse.
“No.” She said, shocked.
She ran outside the church, but as soon as the doors closed, the church melted away into the darkness.
She tried to run, but her legs suddenly wouldn’t move, and when she tried, neither did her arms. She tried to scream for help, and was relieved when she could move her mouth, but relief instantly melted into pure terror when she realized no sound came from it.
The light pole was then directly in front of her, and she was relieved to be able to move her body once again.
Elena starred at the pole, not radiating an extremely bright light. She reached out and touched the light, and suddenly the darkness exploded into the image of a pale boy with straight dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was smiling a strange smile, as if he was plotting something.
Elena suddenly woke up in her bedroom, sweating heavily. She grabbed her phone and checked the time. It was five in the morning, on a Tuesday. She didn’t want to go back to sleep so she got up and turned on her computer. She sat down and as she waited for the desktop page to show, she thought of the dream.
“What does it mean?” She asked herself, remembering everything that happened more vividly than many memories of her physical experiences.
Before she could get too into thought, the desktop flashed on her monitor, and before she could do anything about it, the computer’s start up sound blasted through the computer’s speakers.
She panicked and turned her speakers off. Knowing her mother all too well, Elena turned off her computer monitor and covered up the light coming from the power button on the computer, leaving the computer on.
Elena got out of her chair and slid back into bed, and closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.
Her mother walked in moments later, her hair in curlers and she herself in her favorite pink robe.
Elena listened for her mother’s footsteps to fade, and when the footsteps were muted completely, Elena silently walked up to her bedroom door and shut it, being careful not to be too loud.
She walked over to her computer, turned the monitor back on, and checked her email. She hadn’t checked it in over a week, so it was pretty full. Elena scrolled through the messages, and deleted them all.
Elena didn’t even look through all the junk mail; she just pressed the “delete all” key and was done with it.
Elena typed in Zombie-nation.net, and pressed the enter key, which took her to her favorite site of all time. Elena had lived in the same town her entire life, but never told anyone about it, mainly because her friends thought anyone that loved zombies was a freak.
Zombie Nation was a forum where tons of people constantly interacted with each other, day and night, Elena’s favorite part about it was that they talked more about pure randomness, such as one member’s trip through the US, Canada, and the UK, more than zombies.
Over the years that she had been on the forum, many people left, sometimes the forum felt dead, but the majority of the time the site’s 50+ member base was active, and tons of people were on at this time. She logged on under her username “Esmeralda” and began to look at the newest posts.
The admin of the site had left a long time ago, so the forum never got any significant changes anymore, but it still was fun to be on. The three most active people were Chelsea Dagger, Colusaboy, and Spartan. Elena made use of the site’s IM feature and sent a message to Chelsea and Spartan, who happened to be online at the moment, which wasn’t very strange, as Chelsea lived in Pennsylvania and got up at 6, and Spartan was in London for the week.
Neither replied, and Elena eventually laid her head on her keyboard and drifted to sleep.

Elena woke up from the dreamless sleep with the sun shining through her room window. Elena was confused, and checked to see what time it was. She panicked when she realized that it was almost nine in the morning—forty-five minutes after school started—and immediately called her mom.
“Elena, honey, can it wait? I’m putting an extremely important man on hold by answering you.” Her mother said.
“Mom, I just woke up.” Elena replied, quickly slipping on her navy polo school shirt.
“Is that supposed to be a bad thing?” her mother asked, strangely calm. “I was supposed to pick you in about an hour.”
“What do you mean?” Elena asked, stopping everything she was doing.
“We are leaving for Canada to visit your cousin, that’s why I let you sleep in.”
“Oh, right.” Elena said, suddenly confused about how she forgot about her favorite cousin getting married, but relived that Spring break came four days earlier.
Elena showered and put on her favorite T-shirt, there was a hole in it from when her friend Travis accidentally stabbed her with a pencil, but other than that the shirt was just a regular T-shirt with a green chibi T-Rex on the front.
Elena’s mother parked her Acura in the driveway, and immediately they put their suitcases in the backseat and left, wasting no time because they had to drive from Texas to Quebec City.
Elena listened to her iPod for the first five hours, but she forgot to charge it the night before, so it died. Elena pulled out the drawing pad and pencil that she took everywhere and started drawing.
She didn’t need any inspiration, the dream was more than enough, but as Elena put her pencil on the paper, her mind came up blank. She kept trying to remember the dream, but eventually she just forgot about it and started to draw her pet cat, Moushi.
“Crap!” Elena yelled as she remembered the cat, “we forgot Moushi!”
“Don’t worry, honey,” her mother said in her calming voice, “Moushi is at Travis’ house, don’t you remember, you took him there.”
Elena was again relived, but now worried about the recent memories losses she has had.
Elena and her mother stopped at a convenience store and her mother bought a six pack of energy drinks to keep them through the night.
Elena and her mother had several conversations throughout the drive, some involving school, and one involving the two recent murders in Odale, which are two more than usual, so people think that it was the same killer, especially since the murders happened at around the same time.
Eventually Elena and her mother stopped talking altogether, and Elena fell asleep, even with the midday sun in her eyes.
Elena spent hours in the dream, it was perfect. She was flying, the darkness was gone, and everybody was happy. She could see Travis waving at her, and she waved back, smiling.
The dream was awesome, and she could see the entire town, she saw everything, she was like a superhero.
She flew around the city for what could have been hours in the dream, but she didn’t care, it was the first time she had ever dreamt happily in months, and she was loving it.
Elena saw the only church in the town, the First Baptist church of Odale; it had a giant cross on the churchyard, with two smaller crosses behind it, one to the right, and one to the left.
She circled around and looked at the graveyard behind the church; her grandmother was buried there along with dozens of others. The graveyard ran out of room years ago, so not many people fit there.
She stopped flying and examined the crosses, she didn’t know what it was, but something felt odd about them. She held her hand out to touch the cross, but the second she did, the world around her changed, back into the nightmare, back into her own little slice of hell.
She ran from the crosses as they all combusted at once. She ran into the graveyard and tripped on something. She tried to get up, but screamed when she realized a human bone was grabbing onto her leg and showing no signs of letting her go.
Suddenly the ground shook, and skeletons bursted from the ground and surrounded her. They all reached for her as she kicked and struggled to get free, sadly to no avail. They overwhelmed her in seconds and she knew it was all over, she tried to wake herself up, but she couldn’t. All she could do was scream.
She heard a crack and yelled in pain as her left arm bone snapped under the weight of the increasingly heavy skeletons. She thought all was lost when a boy appeared, he wasn’t the same boy that was in her other dream, this boy was much more tan than the other, and this one had blonde hair.
Elena screamed for him to run, but suddenly he pulled out two machetes and cut through skeleton after skeleton with ease.
Eventually the skeletons were all in smaller pieces, and the boy then helped her up.
“What’s your name?” The boy asked.
“I’m Elena, who are you?” Elena replied, wincing from the pain emanating from her arm.
The boy’s eyes shot open from uninterested to immediate excitement. “I’m Troy, and The Elders are looking for you,” He said, shaking with anticipation. “Can you come with me?”
Elena thought about this for a second. He saved her life, but she didn’t know, but suddenly she remembered what happened to the skeletons and agreed.
“So Troy,” Elena said with a confused voice. “Are we in a dream? Are you just a figment of my imagination?”
“We are in a dream,” Troy said. “And no, I’m not a figment of your imagination.”
“Then why are you and The Elders here, then? Wait, HOW are you here?” Elena asked.
“We are here because my kind has the power to converse with someone through their dreams, no matter what the distance. I don’t know why, all I know is that I’m supposed to rescue one of the nine from the Dark ones, and you just happened to be my assignment.”
Elena stopped and stared at him, showing only signs of confusion.
“Don’t ask me,” he said, chuckling “I’m just here to protect you before the meeting. I have no idea of what the council is talking about.
They walked through what seemed to be an endless desert before they came upon a mountain towering over the desert, with light at the top.
“So,” Elena said, panting, “We have to climb that?”
“Yeah.” Troy said grimly.
“That doesn’t look too difficult.” Elena laughed.
Troy stared at her with amazement; he had never seen even another vampire with so much energy.
Elena and Troy started hiking up the mountain, stopping periodically to rest. Troy had packed two sandwiches for the dream journey, so they ate at lunchtime (or what Elena had guessed was lunchtime), and after that they didn’t stop until they reached the top of the mountain.
When they got very close to the light a large gate blocked what was probably the only way into the light. As Elena got closer to the gate, she noticed six animals on the doorway, one of a bull, one of a dolphin, one of a fox, one of a dog, one of a tiger, and the final of a lion. Suddenly Elena had the urge to place her hand on the door, and she did. The gate suddenly shot out a blinding green light, and a new animal appeared on the door, this one was an owl.
Elena and Troy walked past the gate, and a large temple was revealed to them. Elena called the area they were currently in the courtyard appropriately. It had four pillars, what looked to be a sparing ground and several tables in a neat order.
The doors into the temple opened, and a man of at least seventy years walked up to Elena and Troy. Troy immediately kneeled and motioned for Elena to do the same. Elena ignored Troy’s motions and stood her ground, noticing the man’s yellow hat and robe as well as his grey beard. Elena expected the man to order her to kneel before him, but all he did was embrace her.
“I have been expecting you, Elena.” The man said in a sweet and loving voice. He said nothing else, but motioned for Elena and Troy to walk inside.
Elena and Troy followed the Elderly man deeper into the temple, until they came into a room with one elderly woman and another elderly man.
The room had fourteen chairs all equally spread out and all facing the center of the room, forming a circle. To Elena it looked like the Jedi council chambers.
The Elders said nothing still, but motioned for Elena and Troy to sit down. Soon after they both sat down six other people appeared, all of them looking to be in high school like Elena, but it looked to Elena like she was the youngest at fifteen.
“There are now seven of you, there are two left before the prophecy can fulfill itself,” The Old man that welcomed Elena said. He chuckled as he stared at the confused looks on everyone’s faces “Don’t worry, we’re explaining this now.”
The old woman stood and spoke “Years ago Vampires existed as hunters of man, and they killed men, women, and children for sport and sport alone. Eventually during the day the men and women rallied and overthrew their vampire overlords, but not without help. This is where the prophecy started.”
The man that welcomed Elena continued “We are known as the Elders, fulfillers of the prophecy, our job is to protect the nine before the meeting, and we have made it past the most difficult part, which was rescuing the seer.”
They all stared at Elena, and she blushed a little; she hated attention focused on her.
“The seer is a major part in the prophecy, and thankfully we have her safe, at least unconsciously, anyway.” The final Elder said.
“What does that mean?” Elena asked, frightened.
“It means that we must get you to the Ural Mountains immediately. You will be safe there.” The woman said, “As for the rest of you, wake up and eat, we are going to train you rigorously for the next few hours, so you will need the energy.”
Suddenly everyone but the Woman and the Welcoming Elder had vanished, and Elena was afraid again.
“Don’t worry, the darkness can’t manifest itself into the real world just yet, you will be safe.” The woman said.
“Where did everyone go?” Elena asked.
“Everyone else is already in the temple, hidden away from civilization. The only reason they were all here is that this is the easiest way to communicate, using your dreams as a router of sorts. You needed to meet them, and you did.” The man said.
“Wake up Elena, wake up and get to Russia in three weeks. We will send Troy to Juneau and he will get you here.”
Elena wanted to ask more questions, but her legs started to disappear, suddenly her arms did as well. Finally her head evaporated, and she didn’t scream at all.
Elena found herself back in the car, with her mom shaking her awake.
“Elena, we’re almost at the hotel.”
Elena noticed that the sun was down, that meant that she must have been asleep for six hours at least.
“Mom, I had the craziest dream.” Elena said.
“What was it, hon?” Her mom looked at Elena as a truck sped down their side of the road.
“Mom, Look out!” Elena yelled.
It was too late.
